Videos of his tour when he was a Yeoman Warder are available to watch elsewhere on RUclips and they are a joy to watch - if he were a history teacher, I'm sure he would be loved by his pupils!
This gentleman should be known as "Sir William Callaghan"... It shall remain a stain on our country until he known as such.
I just discovered this man. I could listen to him talk about history all day. Phenomenal communicator.
Did you make any of the letters he’s using Mel?
Viva le 27th new letter of Victorian English. Arguable but here’s a test. Did I fire 6 or 5 bullshits mutha?
Did who make who do what taxation driven.
Pride?
I do like a jaffa cake.... lol!!
Love bill hes brilliant
If ONLY we could have a Parliament full of gentlemen like this!
Bollocks.
Hi, really enjoyed this video clip, a perfect balance of factual history and smut for the Dad's after a few shandies! Would love to have seen you at one of our Christmas Dinners (we sadly had Gary Wilmott one year, don't, I am still having flashbacks). All the best to you, and thanks for posting.
CRACKING 🌹👍
The minor veil prominently report because competitor predictably relax forenenst a thankful closet. boring, homeless armchair
To the detractors: This is obviously at an event where a few glasses of Vino have been consumed before this superb orator's speech took place. Have YOU never laughed at something which you know to be inaccurate, but nonetheless, bloody funny? FFS, this guy could easily stand there and spout dry, boring, historical facts all night - and dry and boring they would be! Instead, he ENTERTAINS! PLEASE, get a grip and ENJOY - or seek your entertainment elsewhere..... Just a quick point, the 'edit' was because I missed the 'e' off the end of please - alcrehil <hick!> is a powerful mind fuddler! LOL
enjoyed the video. very interesting & funny, but my overprivileged Tory voter radar has gone a bit loopy looking round that room....
I'd like to see the entire speech unedited.
He is about as funny as a BOIL ON YER ARSE!
Had the pleasure to have heard Bill speaking after dinner once. Not only is he super knowledgeable, as you would expect a person with a history degree to be. His ability to engage and keep his audiences attention is supreme. I am hoping our paths will cross again so I can hear more from this bloody brilliant former serviceman.
The twenty something today - talk constantly about startups, artificially intelligence, a Master of Finance degree - but can't write eloquently, despise history and have a narrow worldview, no pride in anything, can't think critically, no oratory skills - meaning - no charm, no character, and little basis for the human touch. What they don't realise is that as a client I have no interest in doing business with people who are boring. Bill should set these people straight.
Would love to see Bill team up with Al Murray and do a history documentary series!
That is a fantastic idea! Hopefully this comment is seen and something comes of it.
It really would work!
Where's the full version.
Best 'stand-up Historian' ever. Tower of London tour filmed on a phone was my first introduction to this 'teacher'. bravo, stay safe and happy retirement :)
ill pay you £200 and take you the pub for a few pints real ale , exceptional man that you are sir!
Very good Bill, keep on at it mate keep on at it
Absolutely brilliant!! Would love to have seen his speech in full. 👍
That was magnificent.
You, Sir, are a legend. I went on the Tower of London Tour this year and enjoyed it immensely, but I would have loved to have been at one of your tours. I have, however, watched them on RUclips and found your sense of humour and your knowledge to be extremely entertaining. I hope you are enjoying your retirement and the (no doubt) many interesting things you are taking part in.
Upload the whole video please.
...he painted inner beauty ..😂😂😂
Ex Royal Navy myself, I can't help wondering how many of the Lar de dars sat drinking wine are ex services.
Lovely stories, not very accurate but fun. Henry VIII meet Anneat Rochester, Kent. He decided to surprise her and came on her in disguise. She did not appreciate being accosted by a fat old man in merchant clothes, so did not react well to the “surprise”. That may have had something to do with Henry’s dislike
The ultimate raconteur, with a dry wit, cheeky irreverence which he does so well.
he needs some new material...
You Tube at 5:32. TYVM I've enjoyed your choice of video.
Very very funny man.Sadly, not as funny as me.Still, you can't have everything. Could listen to him all day.
He is brilliant love this guy
I say! Who is that giggling sycophant to 'Sir' Bill's right?
This man is a genius.
What a top man and he kinds of reminds me of good old blaster bates.
such a famous man
You sir, are awesome! I love your sense of humour mixed with history. Fascinating! I could listen to you explain the tower stories all day long. Cheers!
If you pardon me,i believe ,sir Gallachan would be more pleased to explain the tower stories to you,all night long...if you are unmarried,offcourse...Cheers!
An absolute star
I hadn't known his name until i came across this clip, i particularly enjoyed his commentary to the visiting group at the Tower he was giving the guided tour to. So what if he's Irish !!
Richard of ORPINGTON he was born in Manchester he said.
This man is a natural wit. A rare breed.
Not a rare breed in England lol
But... But... What happened to Monmouth??? (apart from just being executed)
Mehitabel watch the video of him doing a tour whilst working
Hacked to death by a drunk executioner! Go on a tour and learn more , very grisly details!
as a foreigner i dont catch all but "Brave Heart" is an exceptionally good movie and i think it shows the history right. this speaker is not bad but trying to clearly lie about the history doesnt give him any honour. even jokingly.
What lie did he tell?
i mean 2:10 about a disastrous comedy -- i made a mistake , maybe, saying about history, but this film is about history, has some humour in it, but is certainly not a comedy and not bad. even very good. long--and good.
i think that the film mostly rightly shows the relations of that time, only my remark could be that then Englishmen of nobility were practically still like Normans . and they were invaders and Scotts justly defended themselves. so its strange to see that some modern Englishmen try to defend those Norman descendants .
i think that ruling English class can be called really English after the Hundred Years' War and when English became an official language instead of French Norman dialect.
this film was almost pure historical fabrication where to begin ? the part where William supposedly fathered the future Edward the iii ? , or that Wallace ever met Isabella the she wolf of France ?!, the lack of a bridge at Stirling bridge ? the Irish no fighting for the English at Falkirk, and in fact no even being present, a good yawn but as for historical no damn way, it was pure garbage from Hollywood, the mistakes are well documented and many as written about by academics and scholars, but here is an article among many to highlight these many inaccuracies and its Scottish to boot, in short the battles were wrong, the way they were fought wrong, place names were often wrong, and even the context of the situation was erroneous too, great Hollywood spin doctoring, the only thing it got correct was that there was in fact a Scots rebel named Wallace, that he fought and won at Stirling and was then defeated at falkirk , where he went into hiding and was later captured by sir john mentieth, and swiftly dragged to smithfield to await punishment, the fact you believe this movie seriously undermines your historical knowledge seriously read a book on the subject, and most insultingly it misses out completely the role played by Williams fellow commander Andrew Moray totally dismissing him, read a history book on the subject or watch history of Scotland by Neil Oliver for a much more accurate unbiased view, anyways here's the link i promised, ENJOY !
Hilarious. :D
British humour at its best.
Is that Roberto Alagna sitting next to him? o.O
This man is fantastic and very funny and very knowledgeable. Very impressive keep up the grate work BILL
