    Videos of his tour when he was a Yeoman Warder are available to watch elsewhere on RUclips and they are a joy to watch - if he were a history teacher, I'm sure he would be loved by his pupils!

    This gentleman should be known as "Sir William Callaghan"... It shall remain a stain on our country until he known as such.

    Hi, really enjoyed this video clip, a perfect balance of factual history and smut for the Dad's after a few shandies! Would love to have seen you at one of our Christmas Dinners (we sadly had Gary Wilmott one year, don't, I am still having flashbacks). All the best to you, and thanks for posting.

    To the detractors: This is obviously at an event where a few glasses of Vino have been consumed before this superb orator's speech took place. Have YOU never laughed at something which you know to be inaccurate, but nonetheless, bloody funny? FFS, this guy could easily stand there and spout dry, boring, historical facts all night - and dry and boring they would be! Instead, he ENTERTAINS! PLEASE, get a grip and ENJOY - or seek your entertainment elsewhere..... Just a quick point, the 'edit' was because I missed the 'e' off the end of please - alcrehil <hick!> is a powerful mind fuddler! LOL

    Had the pleasure to have heard Bill speaking after dinner once. Not only is he super knowledgeable, as you would expect a person with a history degree to be. His ability to engage and keep his audiences attention is supreme. I am hoping our paths will cross again so I can hear more from this bloody brilliant former serviceman.

    The twenty something today - talk constantly about startups, artificially intelligence, a Master of Finance degree - but can't write eloquently, despise history and have a narrow worldview, no pride in anything, can't think critically, no oratory skills - meaning - no charm, no character, and little basis for the human touch. What they don't realise is that as a client I have no interest in doing business with people who are boring. Bill should set these people straight.

    You, Sir, are a legend. I went on the Tower of London Tour this year and enjoyed it immensely, but I would have loved to have been at one of your tours. I have, however, watched them on RUclips and found your sense of humour and your knowledge to be extremely entertaining. I hope you are enjoying your retirement and the (no doubt) many interesting things you are taking part in.

    Lovely stories, not very accurate but fun. Henry VIII meet Anneat Rochester, Kent. He decided to surprise her and came on her in disguise. She did not appreciate being accosted by a fat old man in merchant clothes, so did not react well to the “surprise”. That may have had something to do with Henry’s dislike

    as a foreigner i dont catch all but "Brave Heart" is an exceptionally good movie and i think it shows the history right. this speaker is not bad but trying to clearly lie about the history doesnt give him any honour. even jokingly.

      i mean 2:10 about a disastrous comedy -- i made a mistake , maybe, saying about history, but this film is about history, has some humour in it, but is certainly not a comedy and not bad. even very good. long--and good.

    • @martpast1
      @martpast1 8 лет назад

      i think that the film mostly rightly shows the relations of that time, only my remark could be that then Englishmen of nobility were practically still like Normans . and they were invaders and Scotts justly defended themselves. so its strange to see that some modern Englishmen try to defend those Norman descendants .

    • @martpast1
      @martpast1 8 лет назад

      i think that ruling English class can be called really English after the Hundred Years' War and when English became an official language instead of French Norman dialect.

    • @terrywilliams4824
      @terrywilliams4824 7 лет назад

      this film was almost pure historical fabrication where to begin ? the part where William supposedly fathered the future Edward the iii ? , or that Wallace ever met Isabella the she wolf of France ?!, the lack of a bridge at Stirling bridge ? the Irish no fighting for the English at Falkirk, and in fact no even being present, a good yawn but as for historical no damn way, it was pure garbage from Hollywood, the mistakes are well documented and many as written about by academics and scholars, but here is an article among many to highlight these many inaccuracies and its Scottish to boot, in short the battles were wrong, the way they were fought wrong, place names were often wrong, and even the context of the situation was erroneous too, great Hollywood spin doctoring, the only thing it got correct was that there was in fact a Scots rebel named Wallace, that he fought and won at Stirling and was then defeated at falkirk , where he went into hiding and was later captured by sir john mentieth, and swiftly dragged to smithfield to await punishment, the fact you believe this movie seriously undermines your historical knowledge seriously read a book on the subject, and most insultingly it misses out completely the role played by Williams fellow commander Andrew Moray totally dismissing him, read a history book on the subject or watch history of Scotland by Neil Oliver for a much more accurate unbiased view, anyways here's the link i promised, ENJOY !
