After having watched many videos talking about why we shouldn't use and ever learn 반말 (until when?? until we're fluent??), when it's actually really essential to understand anyone, even at a lower level, because most everyday conversations are spoken in it, I finally found someone willing to teach it. I know it can be rude if not used correctly, but 반말 is essential for understanding Korean people's conversation because it's mostly what is generally spoken these days! This is the only video I could find that actually teaches 반말 instead of telling us why we shouldn't learn it or use it! I probably won't speak it for a long time still, but I wish Korean teachers would actually at least TEACH it instead of constantly telling us why they won't teach it, because we can't understand anyone without knowing it. Understanding has to happen before we can start listening to conversation, and listening has to happen well before we can speak properly, and speaking has to happen before we can actually have a conversation with anyone to actually become friends, lol!! 반말 has to be taught, at least for listening purposes, even if it's not spoken for a long time! Not understanding 반말 effectively locks us out of communicating with everyday Korean people and understanding everyday language, not because we can't speak it, but because we can't understand Korean people when THEY speak it. This is why a lot of people quit learning Korean - because they can't understand people speaking 반말, which is almost everyone - because no-one will teach it to us. So ridiculous! We're all ever taught only the formal language levels that are rarely spoken, so we can't get proper listening practice outside a textbook! 반말 must be taught! Thank you!! 🤗
