Mrs. Allen
Добавлен 26 сен 2013
Welcome to the band room! I'm Mrs. Allen and I've been a band director since 2005. I am passionate about teaching middle school band and love to share what I know with others. My channel is going to teach you all about the instruments in the band (and how to play them!) and the music bands play. I hope to encourage young people to join their school's band and to bring old band kids back to a time when band was a part of their everyday life. So get your instrument out, grab a stand and get ready to warm up with Mrs. Allen!

How to Put a Clarinet Together with/Mrs. Allen
My band director switched me from tuba to oboe last week. He could’ve picked 1/20 flutes and instead picked me 1/3 tubas. He left me with a fingering chart and a reed and expected me to learn the instrument on my own along with all our Christmas music😭
lmaooo tip for other horn players recruit, from the trumpet section. i’m a Senior section leader and was the only mellophone and it would’ve been that way for my whole junior year but i recruited a trumpet quick at band camp(he was a sophomore who played trumpet at first) and we toughned it out until one parade when a middle schooler who played trumpet came to and was talking to the band director. And the moment his mom started talking to the band director we took the kid and started showing him cool things about the mellophone and french horn. Turns out we convinced and for ny senior year my school is 3 French horns strong. best in years💪🏾
no trombones mentioned 😢😢
At my school a couple years ago they started this club called “aveidum” (which is basically just one really big group therapy session) and this year on the first meeting we had of the year they grouped us up and told us to learn something new about someone in your group, well I got grouped up with this kid I had never seen before (for reference we are a small school and I am a senior so I know like everyone) but I just assumed he was a lower classman like 7 or 8 grade or something and we had like the world’s most awkward conversation because we had no clue what to say and we both felt out of place well a couple periods later I had band and come to find out it was his first day at our school (he is in like 9 grade) and he is a percussion with me so that was a very awkward discovery and still to this day every time we interact in every way it is just awkward especially because I am a senior who is more of a leader so I kind of direct the percussionists a lot and help with planning (and tend to take the harder parts) and he is new so he doesn’t know much and can barely play any part and just always seems lost which overall reminds me of myself when I was his age now that I read that back
By the case and the cup I knew it was an oboe, the clarinet players in my school had semi bigger cases than our oboe played
I am in band and I play the basoon not to brag but I think I have a telltale good band director you might know her she is Amy gillich a basoonist and studied at auston university in texas
As a sax, if the note doesn't come out right, here are the ten steps from a totally legitimate professional: 1. adjust reed 2. tighten ligature 3. adjust embouchure 4. repeat steps 1 and 3 5. question your existence 6. check if keys are pressed all the way 7. repeat step 4 8. assume it's an octave key leak and 'fix it' 9. blame the other saxes so you don't look like a confused idiot 10. ask for help
1Yes 2clarinet 3 yes 4no
Guess I’m lucky I have band first class instead of second
I can stick my hand pretty far into my sax without getting stuck. Maybe I should see if I can go further ….
As an Oboe player, WAH-HOOOOOOOO
Why does he look like my best friend I gotta ask him if thats him on Monday 😭😭😭
To be fare it takes a long time
hear me out
as a saxophone player, it is NOT easy!! even though we don’t have to change our face shape, there’s a lot of keys!! it’s not easy to change what fingerings to do every second- and the smallest mistake can change it so much and play a note that’s way different than the one your supposed to be playing!
I am in band and I play the flute and I love it ❤❤
I played the French horn and I was the only one... for 4 years... everyone else is missing out!
How about Tuba? Some Tubas are built with the vaules of F Horn
No hate but we had a band concert and my friend had to course between the band concert or her basketball game
My band teacher is a famous sax player his name is Craig Thomson look him up on google he is really cool
I’m a sax player and sadly I don’t have a comfortable neck strap.
Oboe are slept on but it a strong instrument 💪🏼

Josie using her critical thinking & curiosity to advance her talent is reason enough to keep arts in school
Someone from the county needs to be sent out to Mrs. Allen's band room to fix that leak and change out those ceiling tiles!

Ima tuba, euphonium, drum, piano, pracution player for my schools band lol
I was a bass clarinet player in high school but I always had a really fun time playing my school’s alto clarinet when I got a chance to. Now I own my own and I’m quite happy to play it when I get a chance
The trombone line was CLASSIC
I remember playing this for a concert. Now I have to play “you better sleigh” which is super hard.
Bro my school did that play and that was the one song that was stuck in everyones head
I love you all

Do you have a Band-Aid in your hand?
And oh my goodness i couldn't imagine the amount of money it takes to teach new band kids because a box if reeds is NOTT CHEAP
I’m not in band but I’m in choir and this is how it feels 100% 😭

As soon as I heard "Looks like a clarinet case", I knew. As an oboeist, this is so real, I'm the only one in my band though I no longer sound like a duck anymore because I've worked hard to live up to my solo standards lol
She is being so dramatic
I play trumpet
Im a french horn player and thes was so real until my high-schooler friend played it with me
Don’t forget person who always has something wrong with their instrument *cough cough*, *Raylon cough* Oh and the one that never takes their instrument home And the one that doesn’t ever practice The one who forgets their music The one who chipped their reed The one who doesn’t know what dynamics are The one who keeps slowing down The one who goes too fast because it’s an easy piece The one who can’t play high/low notes The one who is barely awake The one who blames their mistakes on other people in their section The soloist The octave higher/lower player The one who doesn’t play what’s written The one who forgets fermatas The one who doesn’t know what a dotted note is The one who only slurs notes and tongues with air
You dummy
Gat the trombone plz im missing here
As a right handed euphonium player her euphonium is making me lose mind like how is a right handed person supposed to play it
