Ren Kyst II - on a mission
Version with Norwegian text here: ruclips.net/video/SitSTmiqHZc/видео.html
A short film about the effort to remove marine litter from even our remotest coastlines. It does not matter where you are, marine litter finds its way, even into the Arctic. Plastic marine litter does not break down, but stays as plastic howwver far it travels. This film was made as part of the Ren Kyst project, which aims to clean up the coastline in four nortern Norwegian municipalities. This film is funded by the Norwegian Environment Agency. This film is a follow-up to this: ruclips.net/video/xzklQprO59g/видео.html

REN KYST - rydd en strand for miljøet
Chris Jordan on sadness - sadness can drive you into action
CJ on how sadness, a feeling we often try to repress, can actually make you want to take action to change the reason for that sadness. He feels sad, even angry, about the littered state of the worlds oceans, and it helps him take action. Filmed at the Hold Norge Rent conference on marine litter in Oslo, Norway. Feb 5. 2014
Plankton munching microplastics.
Even the tiniest animals in the sea are exposed to the global environmental challenge of marine litter. These little creatures are filter feeders, and indiscriminately feed on whatever is around. Microplastics in the oceans accumulate POPS, and these might then be accumulated up through the food chain when the plankton is eaten by larger animals. The little green dots are pieces of plastic colo...

this is truly horrifying
Come back
Excellent film !!!
Mmm... tasty😋
hello class today we are learning about a plastic eating talking plankton.

How about an air quality test for the skies over Exeter and mental attitude to this weather modification by the planes over Exeter. Are you using ionosphere heaters to make clouds? Yep.
"What we eat, you eat"- that hit hard
Ok boomer
Watch this, zoomer: ruclips.net/video/RS7IzU2VJIQ/видео.html
9 tenths of beach plastic is under the sand! A beach cannot just be cosmetically picked over once, it will have to be done for the next 50 years, even if all plastic waste stopped today. They are not 'our' or Norway's 'beautiful' beaches. An administrative line on a map, a Department for Tourism, a GDP. A seedbank under the Permafrost which is now defrosting. What about all the invisible lines, connecting everyone to everything. Slick production values don't enhance, or weaken, your sincerity. They do reveal a closed mental gymnastic loop, the escape from which needs more than using plastic bags to pick up plastic. What right have you been given to journey to a 'scenic' view, if you're not living there because that is the only access you have to food and shelter? And the Ad that was up to intro this video was for a crisp snack - IN A PLASTIC BAG! The only issue to address is how to find leaders charismatic and dishonest enough to get everyone to cut their consumption of everything by 6 times. Even the poorest in Bangladesh...who already have nothing compared to a tramp in America. Not likely, is it! So, climate change continues and the 1% protect their 99% of everything with wars and then it all plays out the doomsday scenario. Like the Middle Ages in Europe. If a salesman can convince millions a crowded holiday 'factory ship cruise' and a 'crowded unreality experience' in some 'exotic' location has made anyone any happier - then the hope still exists that enough people are gullible enough to send their old folks to a 'combined heat and power plant', stay at home tilling the corn on a co-operative local farm all their lives and use their iPhones as ornaments. You can expect the infrequent visit from the elite, using a NH3 Ammonia fueled antique vehicle, attend an annual cheer-you-up carnival in the next village, talk philosophy and some can even adopt a new religion in which all 'technology' is evil.
What happened to the plankton? Did they get sick or die? Has this been studied?
They're to dumb to deferintiate whats food or not and now the whole food chain is fucked
These look like hypoplankton to me.
Thanks for sharing this, its a very important message.
Much respect
Do a cleanup on the International coastal cleanup day, Sept 16. The best way to spend a day by the coast. oceanconservancy.org/trash-free-seas/international-coastal-cleanup/
I ate a tennis ball last Friday and I'm fine, so man up plankton. Sharks can eat licence plates and tin cans without a fuss. Dolphins and penguins regularly wear six pack holders as hats, I don't see any of them complaining either!
You are a blind idiot.
How can plankton survive eating plastic particles, I mean, Are their bodies able to digest them?
The sequence with plankton was filmed under micropscope in a lab setting with abundant plastic particles added, primarily to see if the plankton actually would ingest plastic. In true life situations the plastic concentration would very much lower than this, and as far as we know not represent a significant part of the plankton organisms diet.
Thank you for a nice video. I wonder which wave length of uv light did you use to luminescent the plastics. thanks!
Great video, great message!!! thanks for it
HIghest respect for the Norw EPA
Good stuff people! keep it up!
Godt jobba :)
Excellent film, bringing home the real problem of plastics etc on our coastlines. This is an international problem and if more people were as public spirited as you guys maybe more of our beaches and coast would be cleaner and safer. Well done and thanks for the extra publicity on such matters. Herb (UK) ps great filming, photography, sound and editing.
i will go myself clean a beach this weekend
Great video, just showed it to my students learning about micro organisms and marine ecosystems. I like to call plastic "the most invasive specie in the ocean." Marine biologist joke... How did you highlight the micro-plastics in the micro-scope like that? Would love to take a water sample and do this activity with my students during our next field experience.
+Jack Nessen Sorry for my late reply. The plastic fed to the little ones are specially made fluorescent particles. *I do not know were you can get it, but you might ask Matthew Cole at Plymouth marine laboratory - that is where we filmed it. We just launched a follow-up to this film, have a look here: ruclips.net/video/_jTVgH-dlFI/видео.html
Bo Eide, thanks! Great video as well.
Superbra! :)
Came here from a Japanese website... living in south coast, it made me think. Will share on FB!
RYUTSU Thank you for sharing, and caring. If you have a favourite beach, why not clean it?
+RYUTSU Hi again. We have now made a follow-up film. Please, have a look and tell me what you think. ruclips.net/video/_jTVgH-dlFI/видео.html
sad true, we need to do more about this situation, for our kids for our generations,, I do not like that new generations were like plastic dolls
hello, Do you have a version of this video subtitled in Spanish? thanks!
Yuli Blumen Hello! Unfortunately, no, we made it in Norwegian and English versions only - it has been more popular than we thought it would be, otherwise we might have thought about Spanish and French too.
it would be fantastic... I can help of course I want to everyone here in Mexico understand this video :)
+Yuli Blumen Hi, we just finished Our second film, I would be pleased if you had a look! ruclips.net/video/_jTVgH-dlFI/видео.html

+MailOnlineVideo -;For Neil, hello, we just finished Our second little marine litter film. Please have a look and tell me what you think. The first one made quite an impression, much thanks to you, and we hope this one will do well too. There is still a lot of litter out there. The film is here: ruclips.net/video/_jTVgH-dlFI/видео.html
Things like this is what gives me faith in the future of humanity.
Did anyone see the camera at ruclips.net/video/xzklQprO59g/видео.htmlm23s :)
A lot of that plastic comes from shipping so it would seem to make sense for all ship owners to pay a plastic clean-up levy so that litter collection can also be done officialy through paid contractors - it should not all have to be voluntary - as great as that is - as so often environmental solutions are to do with economics, taxation and the responsible actions of industry.
Husk 10. mai. Da er det nasjonal strandryddedag! Se www.ryddenstrand.no
awesome work, keep on!

Flott film og bra innsats! Gratulerer!
First what a beauty of a place youve got there! Second, this video is very very professional man the script, the shots, the way the message was developing. Must have been a great effort to make, but what a piece! I hope this gets to as many people as possible!
+Rushiano Hi, have look at Our second little film, if you please: ruclips.net/video/_jTVgH-dlFI/видео.html
