This is disgusting overconsumption, and anyone who defends this video is delusional in thinking that it’s useful and even pretty. It’s just a waste, and things like this is exactly why there’s such a big problem with overconsumption: because of videos like this showing that people nowadays have stupid amounts of money and not enough knowledge of where to spend it, or even put it into a savings account. It’s honestly ridiculous.

Yes, let’s add to an already serious problem of overconsumption and adding even more trash and waste to our oceans and landfills, instead of donating it and saving our money for ACTUAL life-saving essentials. While at the same time, people can barely afford to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Great logic there. Social media has definitely rotted everyone’s brains. We didn’t need all this crap in the past, and we certainly don’t need it now. Same goes for the drawers upon drawers of makeup and things that are just going to expire in a year and end up in a landfill anyway. And 99.99% of what we see on social media isn’t even real life. Also, the moment you flaunt your so-called wealth and spending habits online, displaying it and your overconsumption of items for all the world to see, it’s no longer a private “It’s his/her money, leave it be.” kind of situation. Especially when it’s from influencers like these. The calling out is more than justified, and it needs to be more commonplace. But hey, anything for them views, huh? Screw our planet and our own survival! Let’s feed our pride and ego instead! I’m a woman with mild cerebral palsy, brain damage on all sides, and even I’m not this brain dead and ignorant. I’m also one who lives a perfectly semi-normal life without all of this. If in the off chance I do overspend, it certainly won’t be on anything designer and outright unnecessary. I’m 41, and when I was in my 20s, my weakness was books and tote bags. I’ve never cared about trends or designer anything or makeup and such. And guess what? I’ve only grown more wise and frugal as I’ve gotten older, and anything I no longer want that is still in mint condition, I donate it. I know my needs from my wants, and strive to live below my means and I appreciate what I have. Just like I did in the past. It’s benefited me and so many others greatly. So much better for our wallets, our mental health, and our environment. I still treat myself, sure. But this time, I’m smart about it and have better self-control. Very rarely will I ever buy something on impulse anymore. And if I do screw up, as we are all prone to do, I take mental note of it and make sure to do better next time. And believe me, the consequences and effects of social media and all of this overconsumption will be felt and has been felt, no matter how much we may try and say otherwise. People just don’t know how to be humble anymore, and they certainly don’t know how to treat themselves responsibly anymore and live below their means, separating their wants from actual needs. It’s really quite sad and disgusting. All these years later, and I STILL feel ashamed for all the money I’ve recklessly spent, past and present alike. It’s rare for me to hear anyone share that same sentiment. But at least a number of RUclipsrs and then some like myself are finally speaking up about social media and overconsumption/overconsumerism, and how damaging it is as a whole. Anyone who supports this overconsumption and doesn’t feel any guilt or remorse or see a problem here needs some serious help

reminder to society: YOU DONT NEED THIS WHEN YOU HAVE A PURSE THAT ALREADY SERVES YOU A WONDERFUL PURPOSE‼️‼️‼️‼️

I’m a woman with cerebral palsy who uses totes and backpacks as my daily, and I’ll switch them out from time to time, depending on my mood and the seasonal weather. And sure, I have a handful of them, as some were also gifted to me. But they all serve a purpose. Both at home and on the go. At the same time, I also have a couple of purses that I will use for the very rare special occasions. They’ve all lasted me for YEARS. Same goes for my clothes and shoes. You’ll never see with a closet that is filled with dozens of shoes, drawers filled with makeup and makeup bags, and walls filled with purses and bags. That’s not healthy, nor is it realistic. I replace stuff only when I absolutely need to, and I donate regularly. I have also never overpacked, outside of overnight stays with the family, and I have never once felt the need to own an abundance of makeup or any of its fake accessories. I never buy more than two of anything, depending on the size and price. Nor have I felt the need to own anything trendy and especially not anything designer brand. Including a Stanley and its “purse”. Such a waste of money through and through. I do treat myself, but I’m smart about it now and have better self-control. Which is something I’ve grown to learn and appreciate as I’ve gotten older. Very rarely will I ever impulse buy something. At 41, I’ve certainly had my fair share of financial screwups through the years. Back when I was in my 20s and early 30s, I used to buy so many books that I drove myself into debt, which my aunt thankfully helped me get out of. And I have never overspent like that again. It still shames me to even think about how much reckless spending I’ve done, past and present alike, but it also makes me determined to do better. As we should all strive to do regardless. So much of what we buy and already own is unnecessary, but on the flip side, much of what we own is also reusable. There is no need for all of this, especially to such an excessive degree. And it’s rare to hear anyone express their remorse as I have. What we see on display here is not reality, and I’m glad so many people on and off of RUclips are waking up and speaking up about this overconsumption/overconsumerism issue, as well as the toxic effects of social media, which has only fueled this problem further. If there’s one thing we need to relearn from previous generations, it’s how to be humble and happy with what we already have, living below our means as best we can and as much as we can. Only keeping what we actually need and replacing it when absolutely necessary, and buying ONLY as much as we need when we actually need it. Anything else, especially if it’s still in mint to pristine condition, can be donated. And the money saved by being financially wise going towards ACTUAL necessary essentials for our survival. Don’t make the mistake of learning this lesson the hard way, do it before things escalate. Your wallet, mental health, and the environment itself will thank you
