Stavesacre - Blind Hope
Просмотров 11 тыс.14 лет назад
lyrics: A room, thick with wine And all of the sadness Of a heart that time alone won't heal. Do you remember all the bad times When precious few were found by my side? Yet you stood by While others whispered word of my demise Your presence... a comfort in the longest of nights I cried and cried and you let me Hide behind the love you always gave. (chorus) I know you had no blind hope of saving...

Eric Bachmann from Archers of Loaf
class , top shelf
Need this on Apple Music 😭👏🏽 I missed this song so much I’m so glad I finally found it again!
Why is this making me cry
I immediately like this a bit better than the full band version.
PURE SNEED CORE!!!!!!!!
our local Tom Waits
@Erich Bachman you are of the most talented, complex, and deep indie folk musical artists. I wish you success, your works deserve to be widespread. Man o war is my favorite yet, looking forward to more poetical pieces. All the best, Moe.
word
Beautiful lyrics. Thanks for the upload!
One of the great rock singers of the 90s, as well as possibly the most unheralded.
i adore this version
has anybody figured out the tabs for this? Amazing
its pretty simple..just play along with it and work it out!!!
Stuck a pin in your backbone. Spoke it down from there. All I ever wanted was to be your spine. Lost your friction and you slid for a mile. Overdone, overdrive, overlive, override. You're not the one who let me down, But thanks for offering. It's not a voice and I'm not around. But thanks for picking it... Up, on the radio. Sampled your rust from a faucet, I know. I've got a magnet in my head, A magnet in my head. Extra thick, extra long, the weight was wasted. And there's a chance that things'll get weird. Yeah, that's a possibility. Although I didn't do anything, No, I didn't do anything. All I ever wanted, All I ever wanted, All I ever wanted was to be your spine. And a mouth kept shut and a tongue twist-tied. You're the web in front, you're my favorite lie. You're a hook my lip, you're a latch my line. You're the web in front of a favorite lie. Stuck a pin in your backbone. Spoke it down from there. All I ever wanted was to be your spine. I've got a magnet in my head, a magnet in my head. Extra thick, extra long, the weight was wasted... wasted.
Passage of time indeed... in '94 he was young, and AOL's members and sound were far more aggressive. Bachmann "ruined" his voice by over-straining it. I've heard the strain was mostly from him intentionally singing an octave under his natural level, but obviously I don't really know. Obviously he has aged and gained experience, as we all have... he's found a new sound that's far less guttural and aggressive, and that seems to reflect his (and vicariously our own) experience of maturation over the years between hearing the two versions. Beautiful stuff. Both versions are absolutely amazing, and the differences between the two just add to both.
That's beautifully put, also accurate.
this never gets old
I undestroyed the replay button.
Stavesacre is great, but the recording and mixing on this album inexcusably bad.
Anon Amuss it was their first album after departing tooth & nail. While I don't care for the recording sound quality the mix is good. Sadly it was simply a choice of style that impacted your listening experience. Sounds more garage band with a great mix.
What. A. Song.
@@mikaeldickinson6808 it's far from quality...it's Matt Hyde's fault....in the few video clips of the recording process for this album The most prominent is of Hyde saying "We've got to get away from DROP D!" Uh.....Drop D is what makes (stavesacre)'s sound!!! In retrospect this is one of Hyde's biggest commercial failures so fuck him! The band wanted the late Bryan Carlstrom who'd also recorded absolutes and speakeasy and the bull takes fighter ep...all of which are LOW END HEAVY....and clearly missing from the self titled. Carlstrom was allegedly dealing with personal issues and Dirk in particular was a big fan of Matt Hyde and Hyde did have a string of very successful albums produced around this time....but like all things (stavesacre) after the recording of the album NITRO seemingly did very little to promote the album or push the band...there's very noticable differences between live versions of Witch Trial, Blind Hope, Alice and A Place Where I Can Breath. But it goes to show, sadly, that (stavesacre) were misunderstood by even the most successful industry types and given Abacus's response to How to Live With a Curse it might not have mattered had the self titled recieved the proper mix it deserved! I think, especially given the Cold & Silver timeframe, that an opening gig on an AFI tour would have fit and would have been GREAT EXPOSURE.....and I think Mark Salomon likely would have shown Davey Havoc up many a performance....buy I'm a big stavesacre fan and I'm also a big AFI fan and although different ends of the proverbial spectrum I believe they'd of complimented one another rather nicely!
the original has always done it for me, and this is fantastic too. i wish i could remember how to play all my old songs... i like my acoustic guitar the most now too....
becool, thursday, this music, always good nights
He's talking about whatever you want him to talk about. That's the beauty of their songs. You can get a multitude of meanings from them. I suppose that's what good song writing is all about.
Love this song! Always have. But Jeez, what the hell is he talking about?
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.helll yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
This is so incredibly underrated. I swear I'm the only person in Portland, Oregon of the US who has listened to this.

esta rolla esta bien chida me prende cuando la escucho.... I ♥ this song!!
The best Grunge/Hard Rock band of the 90s.Highly recommended people!
This is far superior to the original version. Why wasn't this song originally recorded acoustically? I killed the replay button.
fuck yes. this is some awesome shit, sorry to be the lame simplistic asswad....
@sebazztard absolutely agree. the truth hurts I guess.
cool, now i know a lot more of the words!
whats solo ? =
@jpietron : Wow! Yeah, you said it just right. Eric has lived a hard life all these years but continues to age gracefully, methinks. Great fellow, great songwriter.
I like this version a lot. Very poignant.
Fantastic remix
Awesome beat :D
hate to be the one to say this... but i dislike it. when he was in archers of loaf, it was pure fucking genius, the passion in his voice in the original, is gone....as well as he changed his style of singing which doesnt appeal to me at all. im glad to see this guy is still playing, but i wouldnt go out of my way to see him.
@Agos1993 OH nevermind dude its sampling Digitalism Echoes hahaha I was going crazy cuz I fucking love that sound! thanks anyway
@Agos1993 Hey what daft punk is this sampling!? ITS SOOOOOOO FAMILIAR BUT I CANT FIGURE IT OUT!!!!

The mighty Loghova declares this to be awesome.
yall throw up the best comments here ....yever find yerself lookin up some stupid mainstream song cause its got some undeniable hook you cant sluff from yer head.and you find yourself confronted with that genres demographic??? its like a slap in the face ... you guys rock though...cool to see some younger people getting into AOL and Bachmann.....hes a genius if youve never seen the guy hes like 6'4 with huge hands that you wouldnt think would be so nimble.. but they are
AWESOME.
I had a friend post these lyrics for me. Great stuff. Took a bit of getting used to the vocals but I'm enjoying this. I've become a big The Crucified fan over the years. Gives me another reason to finally dig into this band.
cheers jack
