Blixa + Mick = Mixa :)
A montage of stills taken from the 1988 interview of Blixa Bargeld by Mick Harvey on The Ghosts of the Civil Dead DVD. Blixa, Mick and Nick did the soundtrack for the film. The other man present is John Hillcoat, the director of the film. Mick Harvey is singing a song the name of which I don't know. The actual interview can be found at: ruclips.net/video/LN9pk6SBqNg/видео.html

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Carny
Filmed for Live and Loud on MTV on 18 May 1997 after Nick Cave had been nominated for the best 1996 male artist and refused the honor (see his letter to MTV on www.nick-cave.com). The songs performed were: Into My Arms, Brompton Oratory, West Country Girl, Far From Me, and The Carny. Sorry for the mess up in the middle of the clip, it's how it was on my copy. Far From Me can be found here: rucl...
Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld, Mick Harvey, Thomas Wydler, Martyn P.Casey, Conway Savage, Jim Sclavunos e Warren Ellis. The best Bad Seeds lineup.
Genius 😎 All the record is a macabre master piece
Beautiful song, so deep
A masterpiece
love Mick Harvey on the xylophone, or however you spell that word!
was this written for the wings of desire ?or was wings of desire written around this?
Der Himmel Über Berlin
First saw in Movie Himmel über Berlin, than live in Qusrtier Latin in Berlin. Just good memories and legendary
THIS SONG TILL THE END AND AFTER
Perfect, just perfect! Long live Blixa and Nick ❤
Very hard song to play. Bad seeds and Nick Cave are great musicians
If « red right hand » is related to Peaky Blinders, the Carny, one of my favorite BS songs, could be at the end of the first « Nightmare Alley » by Edmund Goulding with Tyrone Power, Helen Walker, Joan Blondel, Ian Keith. The novel (William Lindsay Gresham) is incredible, twisted weird story about circus, the geek, creepy nightmares around tarot. Your funeral is underrated: one of the strangest songs, violence, boose, mud we are stuck in, drug’s sorrow sides and loneliness. This version may be the best. What a wild world, what an odd circus: Cave’s intensity at its best. God I love the world: next time could you make it a beet sweeter, warmer: thought I loved you, I hold you. Then I realized you did’n’t breathe anymore.
I will look up the novel. It sounds great.
Someone should waltz to this
Outstanding. Better than the album version. Nick Cave is an incredible storyteller !
Nick Cave should have been a megastar.

Pure magic - thank you! <3
La mia canzone preferita di Mr Cave. Grazie maestro per questo capolavoro
Anche la mia !!
From the times MTV was MTV
these silly ancient infj guys. I have been listening to nicky here for almost 2 decades and I have never seen an artist better than him. Me and nick met in highschool actually and we became pretty good friends. One of his song is actually based on our friendship. Love ya!
😂😂
Always memory of awakening in the wee hours of early dawn on a property in the Australian outback , I'd slept in a photography dark room, at a weekend gathering of punks, Goths and this classic song blaring from the outdoor speakers saturating the whole place.
warren on the accordian, wonder if that was the first one he ever played which he found in a garbage heap?!

I’m a kid and thanks to this book I’m reading called Pilo Family Circus, I got into this song. I looked this song up so here I am ^_^
Hood up.
It's wonderful thing
A bit depressing.

You may be cool but you'll never be as cool as Blixa.
@@stefaniapartini5825 Grazie a te Stefania!
I read somewhere that Wim Wenders used this (and "From her to Eternity) in his "Der Himmel über Berlin". Very fitting, though. Bizarre, morbide, strange, weird.
Yes, this song was used in two scenes, one where the character Marion (she is a French trapeze artist in an travelling circus) plays it on her record player, and another where Nick performs it. He also performs from her to eternity in the same scene after it. It’s a really cool film, Wim Wenders is a legend (as is Nick Cave, and the Bad Seeds)

for some reason comments are switched off on the other videos. This is like just utterly dark and awesome.
i briefly entered a dimension where Blixa had passed away, and now i'm back in this one. so that's comforting.
Omg❤️❤️❤️
Fantástico 👌
the carny vs wild billy’s circus story. discuss.

I could listen to this non-stop. So perfect at all possible levels!!
I agree but my hubby, who is a Nick Cave fan also, can't agree with me on this
BLIXA!!!! This is SO good.

OMG The Carny is one of my favorite pieces of music from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. This version is the best one I've found so far. This man is such a story teller. I put him up there with Leonard Cohen.I don't see the comparison I notice comparing Cave to Tom Waits(not a fan of Waits). I see much more similarity to Cohen. I love Blixa's part in this he is so chill. I believe I see Warren Ellis on accordion and Mick Harvey as well as Conway Savage on Keyboard. This ensemble is an eerie wall of sound and Cave in the middle it's awesome. I've been listening to this man and his many incarnations and changes from about twelve years old on to now.
It's my favorite version too, aside from the one in Wings of Desire. The one from Paradiso is too frenzied. Glad you like it.
☀👍
One wonders, Jim Morrison, had he had the time of life, would he, perhaps solo perhaps with the other Doors, ever ventured into this kinda territory? There some signs on more than one walls, like their liking for Berthold Brecht, soundscapy stuff they done like Unknown Soldier, Texas Radio, the End and so on. After all, this song came only after Nick had had a first run of genius in the Birthday Party. Morrison might ve come up with some brilliance after some pause in the Paris Jazz scene - and he might ve discovered Berlin while in Europe. If only.. Who fell off the trolley, Jim ?
Lol I always compared Nick Cave to Tom Waits and I thought I was the only one😂
Not liking Tom Waits is weird, especially because this song sounds like a lot of Tom Waits songs
great song but imo it doesnt work live maybe nick thought the same
