@@GetPrettyWithPuff Finally got off it about a month ago after a literal DECADE on it. I started taking it when I was 26 and I'm now 36. I kept experiencing symptoms that just got worse, and worse, and worse. No sex drive, could not lose weight no matter how hard I tried, my hair kept getting thinner and thinner, pain during sex, depressive mood. The whole nine yards. The crazy thing is, you aren't supposed to stay on depo for more than 2 years straight and my OBGYN let me stay on it for TEN. YEARS. Even worse than that, nobody ever told me that these side effects were from going into early menopause. I had to figure it all out my damn self. I am beyond lucky that I didn't experience irreversible bone density loss! I'm now on a combination progestin/estrogen oral pill. I'm also currently going through what I would call "reverse menopause". Where my body got so used to not having any estrogen for 10 years that it is now freaking out now that it has it again. My hair is mad, my skin is mad, I'm always either super hot or super cold. A lot of other stuff as well. It sucks. I know eventually it'll all even out and I just cant EVER take that stupid medication ever again. Bottom line is, I don't think we should even ALLOW women to use this medication as a means to prevent pregnancy. It should only be available as a puberty blocker for transgender folks or to be used for a few months to help women with things like fibroids or endometriosis to be used in a similar way to how they currently use depo-lupron. It's insane that we let women put themselves into medication induced menopause just so they don't have to deal with taking a pill every day or don't want to use either an IUD, arm implant, vaginal ring etc. There's SO many other options out there for birth control that we just do not need this shot.
