Master Your Reading Goals and Track Your Books
"Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Mk 10:15. Don't you see why now?
I’ve heard that Martin Luther said, regarding the hopelessness of concupiscence, to ‘sin on bravely.’ I think this is where they get the idea that believing in Jesus is enough.
Pseudepigrapha, Hagiographa and outright frauds. No wonder these bogus tales never made it into the canon. But ''lost''? No.. they were never lost. They were just rejected for being the garbage that they are.
(Headcannon) I think Ronan was being purposefully rude with how he ate to make everyone else uncomfortable.
Sounds like a tale of when there were plently of hunt and fruits to gather, and then we transitioned to work intensive agriculture life style, followed by surplus and the start of trade and empires
Such a fun episode! I think the only flaw, and it's a minor one, is that we never saw Cadman before this and only see her once after this. A slightly more established recurring character might've been more fun. But it's still such a great comedy!
That was a good video on Resurrection of the Daleks. When I was a kid, I was like this is the best Dalek story from the classic series and now looking back on it as a grownup it's the most depressing Doctor Who story I had ever watched. I will tell you I did not like Tegan's departure and when she said it is no longer fun, it's like she is saying the show is no longer fun. I had visited the warehouse where they filmed the story, and it is near the River Tames and it is close to the London bridge and if you do visit that site there is a restaurant under the London bridge called the Vault and it has a great view of the River Tames.
Oh thanks for the shoutout. I've gone to a couple of the Autistic Catholics zoom meetings.
Thanks for another great episode! Lots of thoughts. First the best Boba Fett is in Shadows of the Empire (but idk how many video games you play). It’s interesting that you mention you guys are on Tick Tock (for the first time?) right before it gets banned. And finally, although the British police force was unarmed at the time of the episode is that still the case? I think they are regularly armed now but I could be wrong. Anyway keep up the good work.
The power of the Holy Rosary from others brought him the grace of a happy death AMDG
Great discussion, as always. This is when the Silmarillion really picks up for a first time reader, IMO. It's more of a narrative than a list of people and places. Also, the Middle-earth depiction of the Fall is in Morgoth's Ring - it's an appendix of the Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth (itself very much worth a look, especially from a Catholic perspective).
Just went today it was so cool
Love Padre Pop!!!
Great program. Excellent.
No Rings of Power needs to end. It is an abomination of Tolkien’s work.
I feel like a heathen for saying this but I absolutely love lower decks it's legitimately my favorite Star Trek and I feel like it's a tragedy it's over
This has been our attitude about Lower Decks too. We love it and wish it wasn't ending. Thanks for commenting!
Happy Showniversary, gentlemen! This was a lot of fun - I checked out Downtime before watching it and enjoyed the story and the review. Here's to 400 more!
I'm excited for this! Found you on X!
Richard Doty's role was to spread information, why would anyone believe him now? There are other people in the UFO/UAP community who should be taken serious and given more credit, but Doty is a fraud and is given more attention than he deserves.
Congrats on 400! I will say Downtime is very interesting and it was good to see Nicholas Cortney, Elizabeth Sladen and Deborah Watling in this story, it was great to have the Great Intelligence and the yeti to come back. I have point this out and Jimmy Akin is right the Brigadier did return in the David Tennant era but not in Doctor Who but the Sarah Jane Adventures in the episode Enemy of the Bane and that was the last time Nicholas Cortney reprised his role as the Brigadier. I will say Downtime looks a bit like the Matt Smith story the Bells of Saint Johns because you have computers do you think Moffat used Downtime as inspiration for the Bells of Saint Johns?
It had to be better written because the concept ripped off Babylon 5.
I truly miss DS9. Watchiky DS9 as it was being produce was a once in a lifetime opportunity and i al greateful
My brain keeps trying to tell me that I've seen something like Trash Crabs before, but it might not be in the Star Wars franchise. Aargh!
When they watched the tape of the captain he mentioned he had ship armored.
I'm curious about the method that was used to enter the dream conference. If it was something you had to physically touch or inhale (ie. the letter/candle that was sent to Clara, then how was the data ghost of River able to connect?
You mention nothing about his prayers for the sick
I’m surprised that Ambassadors in Star Trek are so bad with people skills - isn’t that their whole job?
This episode of DS-9 should have been titled, 'The Ambassadors of Unhappy.' Much more appropriate.
The Why Files researched and debunked this story...sorry😊
Rewatched this one today so I figured I would search the podcasts for it. Great story. It truly is sad that Clara only really showed up part was through Smith's final season. They had such a great chemistry. Much better than Capaldi. The Ponds took up far too much of 11s tenure. Cheers guys 👍
Dang, do you really need a whole year? Can't we just summarize it in one word and be done with it? "Disaster" would do.
Bluebells are a Texas flower. Perhaps the ice cream was named after them.
Alas poor Ford! I liked his enthusiasm about gate travel, etc. and wish they could have done more with him (he gets a resolution in the SGA 'season six' novels), but Ronan is far more interesting and charismatic. This is when the show really became interesting to me when I watched it through for the first time a couple years ago.
Thank you for your comment. We definitely need to start reading those novels! 😊
Dr Fastiggi breaks up pretty bad on day 2 video. Missed some of what he was saying about half way through. Thanks for putting this together!
Looking forward to it very much. You have a big job ahead of you. All the best.
"I'm not nearly as good-looking as Father Mike" 😂 cap
Excellent discussion of the very wild ride of a Christmas special. After listening I decided to give it a rewatch. So much fun. There is a Rose and Crown pub not far from me in Kingston Ontario. At one point perhaps 30 years ago there were two. Excellent fish n chips. Cheers guys
I'm really enjoying this so far! It's so interesting to hear the background of Church teachings that we take for granted now
I think the "Guardian of Forever" may have been followed up in a Lower Decks episode (I watch very little of Lower Decks).
If you google "hot Star Trek women" (Gene Rodenberry LOVED beautiful women!) what google pulls up is OLD TREK of Enterprise and BEFORE. Little to NO new Trek.
Best episodes are from "Star Trek The Original Series," "Star Trek the Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager," and "Picard" Season 3. I loved "Enterprise" and there are some great ones - just not sure if I could find one from "Enterprise" that would make the list.
How do you not see it as sacrilege? Dr Who is a parody of itself at this point, an insult to fans.
Thank you so much for this podcast. It's been years since I took classes on Vatican II. I have my book of documents out, and I am looking forward to the refresher.
i really enjoyed listening to this, nice work :)
I'm interested. I do have to say, you run your words together causing me to have to replay them. That will cause me to disregard this series. Simply slowing down a tick will solve that. Just saying. Good luck though.
You can slow it down yourself, guy, just click the gear at the top right and then "playback speed" and change it to 0.9
Also, weird to "disregard" an entire 400 episode series based on the first episode
Thanks for this. I will try to adjust accordingly. My dad, who wears hearing aids, often tells me I talk to fast.
@@frmatthewp.schneiderlc7754 I appriciate your understanding. I'm down to only one working ear myself; maybe part of the problem. :)
Good review of the Time Warrior and this is a good debut of Sarah Jane Smith and also the Sontarans. This story is the first one to have a new title sequence and I believe this story was the story that got Robert Homes the job as Script Editor under Phillip Hinchcliffe.
Good review of Nightmare of Eden! I am one of the people that says it's so bad, it's good. I am a fan of this story as a kid and rewatching it I still like it. There is an interesting plot that deals with drug smuggling. One of my favorite scenes when the Doctor gets attack off screen. I remember hearing that there was drama behind the scenes, I remember hearing Alan Bromley got fired when they were filming this story, and this story was the first and only time to be written solely by Bob Baker.
I enjoyed the episode overall. A lot less shoving woke stuff in our faces. I really appreciated them calling out the hypocrisy and pain Joy felt in regard to her mom. I lost my dad in 2020 and we had to fight to get into him and to bring him the sacraments. It wasn’t until he was unresponsive that they finally let us in.
Good review of Joy to the World and I love this Christmas special, and it was good. My Dad is an LCMS Lutheran Pastor, and he knew what religion they were starting. Speaking of Geeks I am a railroad geek, and you failed to mention this. The Orient Express in Italy, that bridge the train was crossing, that was not Italy, that was Switzerland. This episode did feel like a leftover of the Steven Moffat era and is there an era you could see this episode in like the Matt Smith era or the Peter Capaldi era? And what are you looking forward to in Series 15?
Ori means light in Hebrew FYI
Thank you! I didn't know that, but it fits!
