Majima for the 8th hokage!
Try GBF Relink if you think this combat is top tier, IMO its equivalent or better
so, where is the top tier combat? Because I'm not seeing it
There is perfect evade/parry system well balanced, many enemies have weak points/weaknesses from different weapons (the one you see get way more damage when hit on the head), every character has different playstyle (fast, slow, ranged...) and has fully customizable skills, depending on enemies you can stun, break or throw them in the air. Everything is fast paced, fun, easy to learn and hard to master.
This isn’t even the craziest this game gets by far. I’ve done this with three or four of these things attacking me in normal combat.
Cool i also make noob videos
It's genuinely as technically complex as fighting games but as intuitive and approachable as a button-mashing side-scroller and I fucking love it.
no it's not, and I don't like fighting games and I love Ys. The combat in modern titles amounts to hitting dodge when the enemy attacks. Get the timing right, and you are an invincible god for a long period of time, during which, you can chain your god-mode status by significantly more easily dodging future attacks due to slo-motion being active from previous dodges.
Tell me you don't play fighting games without telling me you don't play fighting games. I mean, seriously, give me a break, how can it possibly be anything like fighting games when the most important aspect for competing in a fighting game is the HUMAN on the other side? Get a grip.
@@anonimoosea.9423 Tell me you can't read without telling me you can't read.
that would only be right if you were talking about tales of vesperia
I see no Captain Cop, only 3 Kaito San.
Is this combar reeltime ur turnbased?
Bro does it look turn based ? It’s real time as hell almost a dmc game lol
try playing on inferno. That first hit u took would take 60% of your life.
I want to at some point but im playing ys the oath in felghana rn
1 million views
When i was facing fing fang foom i got Bob Marley as well. I couldnt help but laugh.
Years later, Ichiban and friends would get absolutely _mauled_ by the Mad Dog and his _canonical_ shadow clones!!
This is how good SAO wished its combat was.
Better than 9 in terms of combat imo
Turn off vsync and spam the tornado projectile and with a decent computer you end up instant killing bosses with a insane glitch which hits the boss like 50 times in a single frame.
I’m some devil may cry games there’s a hidden glitch/ intended mechanic where if u enter or exit devil trigger with very specific timing during powerful attacks you do the damage of human and devil dante at the same time, in dmc4 it became a full feature/ advanced tech .
This Game is Fantastic.
Dont Wory be Happy because Guardians 3 is Here.
Bros gaming
its pretty basic ass combat mechanics for an arpg
Basic doesnt mean its not fun af
Yeah I like the game, but its not as mechanically solid/versatile compared to other action rpgs like kh2, tales games like xillia 2, or astral chain etc
@@Radio_CosmicRay yeah all those games are great to although I havent played the xillia games sadly. I just feel like ys 8 is just extremely fun even if its less mechanically in depth. More of a shut your brain off game and just have fun playing it
The point of Ys combat is to be more arcade-like with fast and fluidity to it. Almost all action games in modern time feels more grounded that sometime slow the attacks and skills and required strategize combos.
YS 8 is basic in every aspect. The story, characters and rpg elements too. There's not a single saving grace to make it worth the time investment to see it through to the end. IDK what is wrong with people saying it's a masterpiece.
Imagine if u do that speech, they got pumped up and then u get Rick rolled
What
recently got ps plus extra and saw that it was on there decided to download it yesterday and so far its one of the best game I have played in a long time
Ys 8's combat is peak Ys gameplay. I understand they wanted to do something refreshing and new for Ys 9 but it that wasn't it.
For Ys9, due to the use of 'food' items, all you do is consume Apple Pie and use the character's special moves that has time stop functionalities, like the Rapid punching Lion Fist one... You literally stop time so much that the gameworld only moves forward 0.1 second in between the moves. Infinite SP for regular moves is one thing, but infinite SP with time stopping moves is OP.
IX had great combat too but for me I just need more than one city for a setting. Granted they did a lot with that one city, but for me personally I like a bigger game world with more variety.
Super cool
The most horrifying thing here is that Saejima does not have schizophrenia like Kasuga, meaning Majima canonically can actually summon clones of himself
Ngl. I still feel like Ys 8 is the best in the series after playing Ys 9, Memories of Celceta, Seven, and Oath in Felghana.
Have you played Origin? That one is my favorite so far! But I'm just starting out Lacrimosa. Very excited
@@yakadefi9579Origin was amazing
Still the best after playing X
Fun fact tho you may know. When he summons his shadows just use go after the one with the jacket. If you can't see him notice the one that keeps dogding for no reason
Ah thats cool ty!!
Wow! Super lame
Astonishing game, very superior to any other of the series
Wow! Super cool
Ok does anyone else have a hard time with the quick time event with the sword at the end? No matter how fast i hit the button i get crushed and have to start over.
lil tip when u do the qte press the button thats on screen and start moving the left stick in a circle that speeds up the qte so u dont get crushed
@@shanethemythicwolf15 havent played in months. Now i will try again. Thanks for the tip.
@@shanethemythicwolf15 i beat the boss. Thank you so much
Well I'm not surprised because Falcom is the first game dev that invented Action-RPG Genre
god I hope you're not being serious
@@dangox3370 Just casually telling the fact, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Yeah, “Dragon Slayer” is a historical game!
Ys 8 is better than ys 9 hoping for ys 10 to be much more better
Did you just not look at the explosion?!?
Man, Ys grabbed me by the neck in memories of celceta, and 8 was just " if you have fingers , it's better use them. " The battle system is chef's kiss
Can't get into any action rpg its just to repetitive for me just practically spamming the attack button acasionally having the slow motion dodge lol just not fun imo
Reminds me of the mana series
Yeah, we really don't have the same definition of "top tier"
Whats your top tier combat in a video game?? Im looking for some more good games to play
@@dreamdesigner4492 Devil may cry, Code vein, Sekiro, Nioh
@@lenain3932 i couldn't really get into nioh but those are all solid games

@@shutup1037 Combat is good tho
Hey mate could you recommend some jrpg with a good combat system similar to Ys 8?
Tales of arise
Nier Automata was made in collaboration with Platinum Games so its combat is a step above most action RPGs Most of the Tales series games are very action oriented and it's great The Mana series is a critically acclaimed action RPG spinoff of Final Fantasy, and most of the games are very good, but the recent Trials of Mana remake has some similarities to Ys Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Crisis Core (and its recently released remake), and Stranger of Paradise have fairly good hack and slash combat mixed with classic JRPG gameplay Kingdom Hearts is a classic action RPG with a lot of combos, though you have to play the games in order to understand the story Persona 5 Strikers has classic musou gameplay mixed with the RPG elements of Persona and lastly the obvious answer, the other Ys games, specifically Ys 7, Memories of Celceta, and Ys 9 (though, if you're gonna play Ys 9, play the PC version, the console versions have some bad frame rate issues)
Ys 9
Seconding Nier Automata. I know this is a late response, but Nier Automata deserves it.
Gbf relink
Man just picked up that sword that's like 100x the size of him with no problem
nah man the rickroll music is the best
it looks like you just smash buttons for 5 minutes waiting for a single enemy to die
thats exactly how combat works in this game. Mindless button mashing.
Its a boss
you just described every game ever made
YOURE SO TALENTED!! AMAZING VIDEO!! 🥳
I love this!!
In the era when almost everything seems infested with "souls" crap, Ys remain one of the last remained actually fun action games
Gid gud
Souls crap is fun too though. The first three Steam games I installed to test out my fresh OS were Ys 9, Elden Ring, and Trails from Zero.
That is true, never thought about it that way. Not a fan of souls "difficulty" being having bad/clucky controls. No matter how much the soul fans cry skill issue, to me, having a hard time controlling your character just screams fake/artificial difficulty. Let the difficulty come from enemies. I will always refer to Monster Hunter vs God Eater for this type of argument as well. I can’t stand Monster Hunter at all for very much the same reasons; difficulty comes from annoying controls rather than anything else. God Eater actually gives you good controls and as such it is the superior game.
@@flariz4824 Unironically a skill issue. There are many valid criticisms against the Souls games, such as the obtuse quest lines, but the combat is not one of them. The games are very responsive and your button presses come out immediately. I think some people just don't like how you can't mash on the attack button like most action games and get away with it, which is fine, but the combat is not bad at all. Same deal with MHW and Rise, I will agree that the old MH games are pretty clunky though.
@@AshenWitchElaina. "I think some people just don't like how you can't mash on the attack button like most action games and get away with it, which is fine" Spot on. This is an absolutely deal breaker to me and, frankly, reeks of fake difficulty in my opinion. Make the challenge come *from the enemies or obstacles* , NEVER make the very act of controling your own character *the* challenge..to me this is just plain not aceptable game design. I am sure I could power though it- I have done way harder challenges in the past, but I just don’t find it fun nor fair. If I reacted in time with a dodge but my in-game guy takes 3 seconds to roll/react (Obviously exaggerating but you get the point) then there is a huge problem. Evidently there is a market for it though, which I am cleary not a part of. And yeah same thing with Monster Hunter. I tried World after certain people in the God Eater community insisted me to try it saying it was the grandfather of monster games and better in every way than God Eater and.. I hated the experience. God Eater beat it it almost every way except a higher budget of course (Admittedly impressive looking game ngl) EDIT: I just realized I basically typed the same response earlier in this thread... oh well it is a bit more detailed I guess.
Shame they scrapped the idea of playing as other characters after the Avengers shitshow. That's literally why they avoided that for this game. But what if they had the Dual Play system of Arkham Knight? Taking control of other characters during the battles sounds like a good idea.
How was this easier than the 2nd one?
I mean tbf they are all incredibly easy
i know right? I just beat the game and currently playing tales of arise and man I miss the fast paced combat of this game.
Nah... the best huddle music was the Rick roll. For me it started playing during the Knowhere fight where you have to disconnect the cables.
Awesome
