Two archers and a priest costs about 400 gold, which if they are mining in high upkeep requires them to mine 1000 gold to get. If you throw away those "worthless" units like that just a couple times, and you're already talking about thousands of gold. Add on to that rebuilding heroes, buying scrolls of teleport, replacing workers that the blademaster is constantly killing, all taking a penalty for either low or high upkeep, and it really starts to add up. Meanwhile, we try our hardest to take zero losses. We use staffs of sanctuary to heal things like flying machines and zeppelins instead of spending money to repair them, we use healing wards and holy light/heal wave instead of spending money on items. We use staffs of teleport and staffs of sanctucary, reusable items, as much as possible to move around instead of speed scrolls or scrolls of teleport. All that money adds up.

I gotta thank blizzard for making me quit this game! Desecrated an endless time of fun, ripped my soul in half! Me and a few mates made it to top 50 worlwide ladder! 10 years ago, no more like 11 I quit cuz of damn stupid admin mistake, after horendous conversation over emails they apologised for deleting my 10 year old acc, of which I accumulated thousands of games! Seeing ya brings mixed feelings... but mostly, spite!
