This will not work for precision and accurate shooting, especially using ballistics at long ranges if you are holding your gun out of level and canting sideways then mounted your scope to be plumb and level while holding your gun cantering to one side then all i can say is lol hope you are not going to try long range shots by dialing in different dopes with your scope you will not be very successful 😂😅

For all you naysayers this video is correct. The only thing he didn`t say is that it is esential to have a scope bubble perfectly aligned with the perpendicular reticle - to reference on every shot.

I just want to know how you got that finish on that RPR?

Been using the plumb bob method for years. Set out plumb bob, neon pink or yellow line, at 25 yds, set eye relief, level rifle, align crosshairs with 'bob line. Set the 'bob in a bucket or coffee can of water if it's breezy to prevent movement.

Works out fine to 1200 yds

I keep it simple. On the living room floor. Put level on picatinny rail perpendicular to barrel and level it, then I put level on top of the scope cap which it is designed for then match scope level to the barrel level. Done

Oh yay.....lets show the worst possible method to mount a scope the wrong way......well done for having no idea what you are doing.....and by the way its insanely easy to test a bubble level for accuracy......and by looking at your setup Im even more convinced you know nothing about accurate long range shooting....

i want my verticle scope line to be perfectly in-line with the center of the bore that way with no wind the left to right will be perfect from zero yds to infinity yds

Good info. I have mounted a lot of scopes for customers in gun shops. You have to do it the way they want it. If they think the reticle is not level, just set it up for them. Also set up the eye relief to their eye. I like the DNZ mounts. It has a one piece base machined to fit. They also have a clever reticle crosshair alignment tool that works great. Saved me a lot of time in the shop. I dont work for them.

Drop the plumb bob in a coffee can filled with water. The wind won't move it as easily, regardless if your rifle is plumb with the scope or not.

You might be better off taking the video down. It's a choice between the number of views & everyone thinking you're an idiot. Although I assume you've probably seen the error of your reasoning by now, this is a hard lesson in learning the consequences of the reality of posterity, for she can be a cruel mistress indeed.

would you also do this technique not for body mechanics but to check the level of a scope? You said mount a level at the end, you did a fold out one or under the scope type?

Just another guy giving people wrong information. If you have a rail that has MOA built into it you absolutely have to level your scope to the gun.

Ive tried this stupid old fashioned way and its way harder to do than youd think. It doesn't really work for me. Laser bore sight is the way to go. Laser bore sight wont be 100% accurate but it will put you on paper and cost $15 on amazon. Spend the $15 on a laser instead of on ammo wasting your time.

This would be correct if the vertical line of the scope passed through the vertical line of the barrel. Unfortunately your instruction guarantee's that will very likely not be the case.

I do this but I use a door or window frame.

Took me like an hr to level my rifle .. level the barrel the picatanny an the scope they all evenly match … I feel like in longer than 100 yards ur leveling technique will fail .. but if it works then cool ..

Check level on level surface pick up rotate 180° it should read the same! Level your square target set cross hairs to match target.

You have to use a mirror for this method to see the reflection of the barrel axis

Your way is wrong. A Picatinny rail is flat on top. A rifle scope under the center turret is flat on bottom. Just use a feeler gauge set. Slip as many as you need under your scope to level it out, tighten your rings, and your done. Easy, peasy.

I like your attitude! Yah, laser boresights are OK that the laser is actually centered in the cartridge housing used for that caliber. Remember that they're cheap and mass produced and likely not checked for operation let alone for accuracy. To test that, secure the rifle well, aim it, make a mark on the paper, then rotate it at 90-degree intervals. If the dot moves in a circle, then it's not centered in the cartridge housing. That alone will make you crazy and cost you ammo on a live test at 100. Remember that most of this stuff is made by the same shops, from the same country with different names.

Sorry, but wrong. If a scope reticle is not leveled both vertically and centered horizontally over your bore then the cant will mean your projectile will leave the bore to the left or right of your line of sight. The bullet will intersect the line of sight 2 times vertically. First as it arcs up from leaving the barrel and second when gravity pulls it back down to dead on at the yardage you've sighted it in for. However it will only be dead on 1 time when it reaches that distance you've sighted in for. The rest of it's flight will be to the left or right of the center of your target. That distance to one side or the other will increase once you pass your dead on point and to hit a target well beyond that will require you to hold off the target left or right in addition to adjusting for the wind.

This only works on a 0 moa rail. 20 moa or any angled rail the scope has to level to the rail.
