Hi! If your coffee isn't coming out as strong as you'd like, there are a few things to check. First, make sure you're using enough coffee grounds. For a stronger brew, I recommend using about 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of coffee per cup of water, depending on how bold you like it. If you're sticking to 1 tablespoon per cup and it's still too weak, try increasing the amount of grounds. Another important factor is the brewing time. When you bring the water to a boil, make sure you reduce the heat to a simmer and let it brew for around 10 minutes. If you pull it off too soon, it might not extract enough flavor. Also, check your water-to-coffee ratio-using less water (by filling the pot with a bit less than the full 12 cups) can concentrate the flavor and make it stronger. Lastly, if you're using a coarser grind for your coffee, try using a slightly finer grind, which will help extract more flavor during the brewing process. We have had it for almost 1 1/2 yrs. Our boys are 6&9 so you can probably imagine how rough they can be on things. But surprising its holding up very well. The only wear that you can see on it is the scratches they have made mostly from moving the ladder and slide around.

I have not noticed any. But if you are concerned I would suggest doing some research on this product, and maybe check Dr.Bergs website for a customer service email, so you could ask them directly.

Boiling is common in canning to sterilize and seal jars, but for fermentation, it's not needed. Just clean the lids with warm, soapy water or a sanitizing solution. The salt brine does the work in keeping the process safe!
