sgdk shump: playing with stacked sprites
Not so much today. Just some stacked sprite testing. Guess where the assets came from? sure hahaha Anyway, also worked on more level code refactor in order to add easly them and started to work on a idea to bring some depth feeling to the walls. Done some testing and i guess it can be done... The only draw back is that i will have to work on the assets very hard.

New assets takes me time, but today i made some little progress on the palette management. Just that... and ofcourse, introducing: "the scanlines". No, really, just kidding.

So after some refactoring, i started to work on the different worlds assets for the game. Adding some color improvement - two pals at the same time for the bgs - and color palette changes for the "floor" (just testing it).

Those days i've been busy refactoring the shump code in order to start coding the real game. Also learning palette management - thanks again @PigsysRetroGameDevTutorials - and thus, no visible news still. But this weekend i was wondering what can be done with vint and hint and tile and color changes. The main point here - still dont know if its useless haha - is that all its drawn with a line o...

Early works on adding a wall to crash the ship in the future. Still need so much to polish on the asset part and on the endless scroll values for the center "walls". Maybe that shouldnt being published, but why not? as there are many people following this channel, just to keep them updated and to say that i'm alive XD. But again, still need to polish so many things.

Today some easy but grateful additions. Playing with the priority of the tiles and testing music sync. You know, PAL - NSTC - timmings... well. That's all for today. Music credits to Darxide. Hope the video will not get banned :P I do apoligize for the video pixel ratio, today it seems that OBS and OpenShot joined to troll me XD. Or maybe i'm to tired and making something weird with the convers...

Today not so much - it seems but glad to see it all works together - just joined the bg_a and bg_b to do the 3d trick. Also some refactor behind the scenes on the hint callback.

So the work those days was to know how to play with high tile count... need to add the second plane to do the 3d effect from the last videos though. Anyway it was not the purpose. Also achieved some more smoothness on the scroll and started to work on the real assets - need to rework on the textures once the python script transforms them in order to clean the results from some artifacts.

Last video has more description on that... This is the same but using "textured" walls... just a fast test, not really very good assets in deed XD. Just to see if the hw stills respect my idea.

First attemp on simulating 3d walls with hints, line scrolling and two maps. Still not as smooth as i want... but i think is not bad taking in account the limitations of the hw. But i guess it is related to how y use the line scrolling. Need to debug... but i'm tired this week. It has been so frustrating until getting that. Next step, use "textured" walls. No real 3d involved... just old school...

It seems not a step forward, in fact, backwards XD but is not. I achieved how to fast change maps on BG_B so the effect of just 3 builds traveling left using the "streetfighter2 floor perspective" technique that in fact just uses one image. Tile memory limits, dma, hints and soon had to be refactored, as on first attemps that can be seen on my channel had some flickering. Happy to got that... N...

A tower to put shooting turrets added. This allowed me to see how i reached the tile limits and will need to start using more simple assets in order to speed up the "" enginge "". So the demo phase is ended. Now starting the real game. Stay tunned if you want XD

added some effects to the ship, so it looks better... just trying. Music is not from the emulator nor the game. As we say in spanish, just "chapa y pintura" XD

Added texture to bg_b transition... still some flickering on the "front" of the change. Need to debug. Guess its due to where the load of the new bg occurs and the need to enable/disable the interruption in order to not corrupt the scroll.
