Nope, not if let to dry 💯 before you take it out of the mould. You can also apply wax and then bake it and it’ll never go back to flat. Let me know if you’d like a tutorial video on how to wet mould leather!

I think so far, i‘ve seen it with vege tan exclusively. Can it be done with suede? Chrome-tan? Do they posess the necessary rigidity? I‘m really enjoying your channel. Pricking irons vs Stitching irons. There's a difference. Stitching irons you can hit with a maul or leather/plastic hammer. Pricking irons are not designed to be hit. They are pressed with your hand and then punched with an iron. Yes on those Japanese knives, love mine. You can use a head/round knife but a Japanes style knife can be a little steadier and more compact. I've been working leather since 1974. Learn your craft by yourself and by those that have come before you. It's a wonderful experience that will have a product last for a lifetime.

My favourite tool is my round knife, but what steep learning curve even just to sharpen it so it's not a beginners tool. One way to get a relatively cheap knife that is good quality is to buy a cheap second-hand woodworking plane since you are only after the blade it will be cheaper if the plane is in poor condition. Whilst there are different grades of tool steel, the bare minimum blade is always tool steel.

Out of those two, John James. I don’t actually use either, I use a German brand whose name escapes me. Check out Pro Atelier Plus’s needle offering. Probably a 0.55 or 0.6 for a piece that size
