Yes Matt. I struggle with the fact that Lot was willing to hand his daughters over to these rapists in exchange for the 2 angels. I scratch my head at many bizarre actions people in the Bible took. Sometimes the punishment God dishes out doesn't seem balanced but who am I to question. One incident in particular. I remember, when Aaron and his wife were talking badly about Moses behind his back and God severely punished Aaron's wife but seemed to do nothing to Aaron. Why was that? Seems Aaron got passed over more than once in the punishment department for being a party to things he shouldn't have done. What are your thoughts on this?

In Romans 8, when Paul says he knows that all things work out for the good of those who love him, he’s directly contradicting the ancient and long-held Jewish theological error that taught that Yahweh only loved the Jews, no matter how much the Gentiles tried to love him they could never be Jews. Paul is saying no, it’s been revealed that even though it seems like the last 2,000 Ulysses of Jewish teaching taught that God was unable to love Gentiles, that has all changed. God CAN love everyone, even if they’re not Jewish. This thinking about bad Jewish teaching is why he moves into Romans 9 the way he does. That chapter is all about correcting Jews. And it’s also why he can say in Romans 10:11-13 and 11:32 that ALL are chosen. It’s because he’s not teaching that only some are chosen. The doctrine of election is false.
You’re not teaching “salvation” correctly. We absolutely have a part to play. The part we play is surrender, not works. God does all the “work” of what we call “salvation” so he gets all the credit. But it’s not a 1 step process it’s at least a 3 step process. God forgives everyone, we have to surrender, if we do he grants us eternal life. So God does the work of forgiving and granting, all we do surrender. But we do have to do it.
No, we can understand Paul. The doctrine of election is completely false. Paul is so clearly teaching that everyone is elect. In places like Ephesians he is correcting the bad Jewish theology where THEY taught God only predestined/elected SOME. Paul corrects that by teaching he chose the Gentiles ALSO. See Eph 1:11, 2:11-20, 3:6. And so many other places.
I have just been watching a bunch of videos on creation/intelligent design that were very interesting! So cool that the Bible starts with something it took a long time to prove - that there was a beginning. The Big Bang, expanding universe, DNA, and cellular machines point to a designer aka God!
