15:45 Killer Kinsley!!! That's my uncle Walt!! Oh man, I wish I could have seen him drive!! ❤
Anyone know frank antoniello he raced dragster called the dragonfly in the 60s early 70s the antoniello brothers
I'v never bought a Doo Dad or a Hee Haw...
RIP Atco. At least Maple Grove is still around.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,The grove will be around as long as Drag Racing itself,,,,,,,,unless the fascist feds shut it down..............................
I will forever love this track man so many memories. RIP ATCO DRAGWAY
Unfortunately, Atco Dragway is permanently closed.
😔 'PromoSM'
BTW, they didn't make firesuits out of asbestos!
Thanks for the memories
This is a hidden gem of a video
He has his wife trained to go drag racing, it’s a family thing!
Did he say they wear clothes of asbestos?? Lol
White ‘s only !!!
wonder why that Torstveit guy ran out of dvi 2 if he was from Arizona
I lived in Sicklerville and W.Berlin NJ after i got out of the Navy back in the 80s I raced a 73 Plymouth Duster.@ Atco
Little Correction this would be from 1993.
Taken from the 1992 Running of the event which was also the 30th anniversary race of Maple Grove.
In this video at 0:35 seconds you can see the back end of miss Phil worth the last name baker that is my family’s old care really cool to see in the video
It was less safe then and I'll bet there was less anxiety among those guys.
No laptops hooked to tuners,,,just an ear , reading plugs, and pray like hell.
Looks like an old VHS copy of the film. Any idea where the original footage came from?
Drag Man ! Drag!...yeah!
“Overpriced hotdog and a cup of flat Pepsi”. Boy. Nothing has changed! We can make better power out of smaller engines but can’t even get a Fresh Pepsi?
My dad owned the Hairy Canary former factory a/fx car converted to small block Chevy fast for the times , campaigned from 65-70 fun for me as a young teen 🤪
good stuff...great memories
Not sure why the masks, barely hitting 100mph
The video said 200 MPH
Paint stocker running over 100 at 12 seconds? Huh
loved that description of our forfathers.
I had a 750Kawasaki triple 2 stroke Drag bike for over 33yrs. AWSOME sport
If you know what they look like, at 2:26 that's a young as fuck Bob and Etta Glidden!!!
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,dead wrong.........................................................................................
Would you please give my Yotuube channel a subscribe
That's me at 0:24... Good times!
I like this track close to my home&i hope it continues keep these young kids off the street as i say race the strip Not the street
Philly Modifiers
He is wearing a chair!
Good video. I was a customer of K&G Speed Associates with the meager money I had. Chris was always helpful, even with people like me who weren't really 'players.' Their "Chop your ET" executioner T-shirts, sold for 2 bucks in the '70's, were a regular part of my wardrobe.
We ran both cars and bikes at Atco. Later when the other drivers were coming in from the cities, we moved to Maple Grove Dragway. Then we had the same problems there.
What problems?
@@garybrader8447 I assume he means long lines. When the staging lanes were packed years ago you’d be lucky to get four runs.
@@shadowdog500 OK, thank you. I would think that spectators might consider that an acceptable problem.
Video quit right before launch ? UGLY !
the 554 Coupe sounds Fat ! (running too Rich )
95% good old Chrysler "Early" Hemis ! They're still doing it all over North America, they were only built from 1951-1958, pretty amazing eh ?
great video! I happen to own the Lyndwood dragster that is seen at the 11:33 mark in the video. originally owned and raced by the team of Solomon & Rorre's A/D team out of Havertown PA. they ran in A/D with a 98" wb Lyndwood dragster with a 394 Olds and a 6-71 supercharger on gas.
My dad and his buddy Ed Bernier ran BB/GD's back then w/a 392 Hemi and a 6-71 blower. Wonder if they ever raced each other. They ran Shirley a number of times, my dad has home movies of it.
Way cool!
Cool video cars where slow back then
No deodorant yikes
Don't you just love the lack of ANY guard rails?? Awesome!!
Jungle Jim used to go into the grass and back on to the track back then I saw it with my own eyes
@@barryanderson6318 Yep...so did I. A few others come to mind too. We had US 30 and Great Lakes where I grew up....safety in the 60's was an after thought. It wasn't just drag racing though, Formula One was way worse!!
Great time capsule for Drag Racing. Stand up racers or our sport will be stamped out by the same people that want liberal leftist socialism and won't let Trump build a southern control barrier for our safety.
Do you have to make this about some stupid political bullshit?? Jeez....
@@larrydrozd2740.... he's speaking the truth about making a "stand for the sport"..... there Are those on the "left" who want ALL forms of motorsports... "Gone"!
@@Romans--bo7br Who cares? This is the same bullshit "they" have been saying for decades.....ain't gonna happen. You know what will kill motor sports? Lack of interest!!! Nobody shows up......it goes away. Again....not the format for this stupid political bullshit.
Simply Tweet Donald and remind him that "Drag Racing" is an all American Sport, and he'll probably promote it ! Help keep it going, it's important
No beer? I was involved in the mid 60's and there was always beer. Beer in the garage, on the strip always. And no one ever talked like this guy. We had no quarrel with bikers and they had no quarrel with us.
In those days, those Slingshot dragsters smoked the tires all the way down the track. If they could’ve hooked they would have went a lot faster.
No sound?
gettin noizy in joizy!!! now e town shuttin down absolutely sad state of affairs!!!
If people don't start standing up our sport as well as all carbon footprint sports will be shut down by the left liberals. But don't ask them about their frequent plane trips causing pollution and ruining the environment.
@@edwardchascsa4191 Liberals? Um....its more of a fact that kids are just not into cars like we were beck then. There are way too many other things to preoccupy themselves with instead of some complicated, expensive drag race car. I know suburban kids in their 20's that STILL do not have a drivers license!! Don't need one and have no use for one. They like cars, its just something "old guys" are into....they're not.
@@larrydrozd2740 partly right. We have plenty of young people racing. History is repeating itself. They love street racing. The reality is it's motorcycles, powerboats, snowmobiles, tractor pulls anything with a engine. Oh yeah the Green New Deal includes your daily driver. Check that out.
These are the original Street Outlaws !
