Tobacco Road - The Nashville Teens (July 1964) SHQ
Просмотров 957 часов назад
The English group The Nashville Teens' garage rock/blues rock rendering was a bold effort featuring prominent piano, electric guitar, and bass drum parts and a dual lead vocal. Mickie Most produced it with the same tough-edged-pop feel that he brought to The Animals' hits. "Tobacco Road" was a trans-Atlantic pop hit in 1964, reaching number 6 on the UK singles chart, number 3 in Canada, and num...
Sandie Shaw - Heaven Knows I'm Missing Him Now (1969) Sandie at Trafalgar Square (SHQ)

"Heaven Knows I'm Missing Him Now" is the twenty-third single by 1960s British girl singer Sandie Shaw, and her final single of that decade, marking the end of a string of singles which had made her the most successful British female singer of that era. Although the song failed to enter the UK chart, it would later influence 1980s singer Morrissey, a big fan of Shaw, to write a song for his ban...

Dennis, lead singer was an older friend of mine. I got to know him through his younger brother Laurie. The used to play together in the late 70s in the Badger Pub in Chigwell. A nice guy. Great guitar player and vocalist. The landlords of the Badger, Den & Edie has a house in Dagenham and a few times after the pub shut we'd end up round there drinking and Dennis would play songs on his acoustic guitar. Thanks for posting the video as I haven't thought about Dennis for a long time.

Excellent compilation. However, Herman’s Hermits aren’t a Merseyside band. Lead singer Peter Noone is clearly not a scouser. In fact, most original members, including Peter, were born in Greater Manchester. Derek was born in Leeds, and Barry is from Cheshire, exactly from Prestbury. This town is not far from the River Mersey, though.

What’s wrong with synthesizers? You’ve still got to be a skilled musician to be able to play and programme a synthesizer well. It’s not as simple as pushing a button. Also the producer of this track Joe Meek was one of earliest pioneers of electronic music 🤷🏻‍♂️
