Lapras charged moves does not deal any significant damage but it would slow down the Max Meter charging speed, which in turn gives Articuno opportunity to use more moves. It is simply not worthwhile to do so. If you are using Excadrill/Metagross, Rock Slide and Meteor Mash would be a great damage source, though.

Someone has tested no shroom solo. The best they got was around 60% without weatherboost/helper using Excadrill.

Yeah, I did that no mushroom test just to see if I could solo with mushroom, not with the actual intention of beating it without. If Articuno comes back after we get ourselves some strong Dmax rock types, it might just happen

Gigantamax Moves has 100 more base power, which usually translate to ~25% more firepower to the Pokemon. For Zapdos you want to use Excadrill (you got Dynamax Drilbur in next set of time reserach) and a heavy hitter like Gigantamax Lapras/Gengar or Dynamax Articuno

I have that exact setup and wi was working much better than my gmax Tox, who i dont have enough candies to level so is only level 30 with level 2 attack

Probably so he can focus on dodging. Doing a charge move stops you from dodging I think.

Slows down max meter progress against bosses with high HP

The main objective is to survive, Lapras does not have any strong charged move (against Articuno) so it won't make any meaningful contribution on damage anyway. Using only fast move make sure the Max Meter charges as fast as possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But the reason you only want to use the fast move is that it adds the same amount on the max meter, but it will take longer if you did charged moves. Even if it was Metagross with charged moves you're The idea is to fill it up and use the Gigantamax Attack to deal the real damage. For example Metagross with Bullet punch takes 900ms Flash Cannon takes 2700ms. So you could be doing 3 more fast attacks to charge the Max meter up instead of dealing a charged move. Even in a team i just always use fast attacks, especially doing a Solo like this.

If you go deeper it is a trade-off between using Charged Moves (like Meteor Mash) vs taking more damage from the boss and compensate it with Max Spirit/Max Guard. I believe Metagross would still prefers using Meteor Mash in general, since it has a slower fast move and lack of G-Max moves. It also tends to stay in field such that there is no switching overhead differs to glassier attacker like Toxtricity and Charizard.

Metagross does not have access to 0.5s fast move so it is not desirable as a tank. It can be used as shield though (switch into Metagross when Articuno attacks, and switch out again after the hit)

Does having a quickier fast move allow it do dodge more precisely or generate more gauge? I believe zaptos is next, what will be your strategy?

@ It is mainly for charging Max Meter. For Zapdos, Excadrill is the only practical choice as tank. And the choice of attacker is also very limited, it would be either Gengar or Lapras

3rd try on having Icy Wind/Triple Axel or Triple Axel/Icy Wind. First two attempts failed into server lagging during Max Hour when a lot players playing the game together. It was almost impossible to dodge during that hour (so don't think the NZ players who duo'd it were playing badly, it was not their fault to fail dodges)

Just make sure they would cheer after their Pokemon are all fainted and you should be fine.

You dodge when there are 3 lines shown above your Pokemon. You have to swipe before those lines turn red. T3 helper is the number of gloves shown in the lobby. It applies to power spot with 4-14 helpers

It should be very manageable with a group of 3 players using Blastoise, Blastoise and Excadrill

Noo, you only dodge one time when the lines are yellow. If you do it right, your pokemon will move by themself back to the same position just when the attack comes. If you dodge when the lines are red you most likely will fail

@@Aeronixable yea the second "swipe" is the result from server lags, the server only register the dodge a few seconds after and it shows the animation again

The remaining two birds would probably be duo, there is no Pokemon tanks Moltres/Zapdos moves as well as Lapras on Articuno.

Excadrill can tank Zapdos better than Lapras with Articuno. Moltres is gonna be hard

For Moltres, maybe with a Max phase using 3 Shields. Fast moves Will add over time and gmax kingler is stronger than toxtricity, só, maybe.

@@hunterofbosses Problem with Moltres is to survive between Max Phase. It would nearly defeat Excadrill from full even with Ancient Power/Sky Attack.

Lapras move is too weak, it might be better to let Toxtricity participate more in the fight though. Lapras has the advantage of double resisting the moves and also higher HP stats. Blastoise won't survive as long as Lapras unfortunately.
