The forest scene is beautiful. I thought I'd mention that the Hero Arts water reactive inks also respond to flicks of water for a distress effect. Paint some out, flick water onto it, wait a second and then dab up the water and you'll have some cool bokeh-like circles, a little like flicking white paint. Love your landscape. So pretty.

I love these too. I have noticed that newer blocks are significantly smaller than those I purchased several years ago. This is an example of "shrinkflation" because the individual blocks have also gone way up in price. I bought some 2-3 yrs ago at my local art store for $8.99; they are now $11.00 and much smaller. I recently bought a single in black that is about 1/3 smaller than the originals-both in dimension and depth.

Can it be used outdoors to do landscapes, trees, buildings etc.?

Nice to actually see how the images look, instead of simply seeing someone using it without the visuals. So I can make up my mind instead of basing my decision on reviews by people who may not have a clue on how to use it, or have unrealistic expectations.

Thanks for a nice review. Like you, I've been drawing for a long time and have been using the grid method since I was in school. I'm wondering how effective is the magnifier that comes with the photo attachment. If you don't have the magnifier, is the photo just too small? Have you tried the Lucy outside for a landscape? If so, does it work well? Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I love palm stones, worry stones and tumbled stones. I purchase mine based on either the weight, or the shape. I use palm stones, worry stones and tumbled stones as a fidget, for emotional or mental healing and for meditation. I buy stones with a little bit of weight because the weight keeps me grounded. But if the shape of the stone mesmerizes me, then I buy it, even if it’s not very weighted at all.

I've been trying to find information on these things "The Lucy," "Tim's Vermirror," and the cell-phone app called "Da Vinci Eye." I haven't purchased any of them yet, but I'm leaning toward the Da Vinci Eye, because it seems to offer more versatility in sizing, including something mural sized. That system appears to use photos stored on your phone and your phone's camera to make them seem superimposed on the view screen while you trace onto the canvas or paper that the camera is focused on. Thanks for your video on this!

Thank you for a clear review. I could not get the QR code videos to run at all and about threw the thing away until I saw your video. It’s frustrating that they don’t give real instruction with the product. And they want to charge extra for a few lessons. I’m still returning mine, (in my opinion, it’s not worth the box they shipped it in) but it was nice to see something that makes sense.

On the gooseneck arm it seems kind of wobbly. However when you demonstrate looking through the actual viewer, The wobbling doesn't seem to transfer to the image projected onto the page which is encouraging.

To equate Princeton Select budget brushes to the top tier Princeton Aqua Elite is one thing. But, calling Fuumuui “Fancy” is downright blasphemous! Knowing the characteristics of each brush and/or series of brushes is essential to any review. Usually, the more expensive a brush is, the harder they are to control in practical watercolor use. Too much water and lack of consistent form can hinder the inexperienced. Less expensive, less thirsty, more snappy brushes are easier to control and better choices for students and beginners. But, they are also not likely to produce extraordinary art pieces either. Having said that, brush choice and preferences is different for every person. As they can be costly and a large investment, do research and educate yourself on the characteristics of a particular series of brushes before committing to a disappointing purchase.

I think you make these colors look the best I have seen. I have them and have worked only once with them but didn’t get the great spread of color you have. I’m sure I need to use more water.

I love these!! I have a bunch of her colors from some dot cards I bought - I peeled them off and put them in half pans :) they’re so beautiful!!! Especially on the black paper!

This will seem trollish but it isn’t. Please, people with the super long nails please dip your nails in rubbing alcohol AT LEAST once daily. You have no idea the germs and microbes that long nails harbor. I cring when I see them. We swabbed nails in nursing school and if made me sick to see what grew on the agar plates. You may not get sick but someone else could esp if you prepare food for others. Thanks in advance !

I bought a sketchbox grab bag a few years ago and I received a set of primaries plus black and white.. tbh I've hardly looked at them because I'm not sure how I would use them... I tend to gravitate towards colored pencils and they're too messy for me.. I always get totally covered when I use dry pastels

Thanks for a coherent, informative review/demonstration of this device. It helps to have a real artist testing this. Some others I've found were company shills (didn't show enough of the actual view through it--just talked about it) or were not coherent or artists. The way you plan to use this camera lucida - making sketchy, loose tracings of subjects that will still have fairly accurate proportions makes good sense. We have many high-tech ways now to produce accurate images so the 'Lucy' can be put to more 'creative' tasks perhaps. As artists I believe we need to mention -- for all the beginners wanting to "learn to draw"-- that this tool won't "teach you to draw", because it's just a tracing device. It can help beginners practice how to hold various drawing tools and how to vary line weight or texture all without the 'pesky simultaneous problems' of judging proportions and placement on the page, etc. and still get an image more pleasing than a scribble. It takes practice, practice, practice,... to "learn to draw" but the "Lucy" might help those who need a confidence boost by making a 'pleasing' image by tracing and excite them to learn more. Or they can just trace things.
