Charles and Colter join Michael and Charles Rudolph for an 18 mile trip down the Devils River. We got a shuttle from our good friend Darrel with Amistad Expeditions. We caught well over 100 bass on the trip including a 5.88# largemouth. I like the spare trailer wheel in the bow of the boat. I’ve hauled them all around the lake hundreds of times and never needed yet.
Awesome trip! Beautiful country!
It really was! Glad to have you along Leader! 😂
Where on the nueces does it look this good
Dylan this was between Camp Wood and Uvalde. I think the river is a lot lower this year however.
@@cfjranchoutdoors I have recently moved from Houston to right outside of corpus and oddly enough I’ve had an extremely hard time finding places to fish freshwater without getting in trouble or having to drive 3 hours away
@@dylanmilford8802 the Nueces looks a lot different down that close to the coast. I don’t know much about the freshwater fishing in your area. I’d stick to saltwater. My son is fishing in the Laguna Madre just south of corpus as we speak.
@@cfjranchoutdoors I like fishing anywhere for anything but my favorite fishing is bass fishing and where I lived in Houston there was ton of options from neighborhood ponds to reservoirs even creeks with huge catfish and carp going through my neighborhood, even though I hate it, if you look on fish brain and compare how many spots there is to fish, you’d think out in the outskirts of chorpus there would be plenty of ponds but even directly in the city of Houston it’s not even close surprisingly
@@dylanmilford8802 yessir. My sister lives in cypress and seems like there is a pond around every corner down there. We haven’t fished much there though. We just got back from a bass fishing/kayak trip down the Devil’s River. I’ll bet you would love it. Caught some really nice fish. 5.88# largemouth and several 2# smallies which are a blast to catch. I should have a video up in the next few days, so check it out.
I literally just learned about it, lagopthalmos. I don’t wanna explain it right now look it up 😂
He is handsome
Across from McCown Park cove?
Yes, @noway57 ! That’s where we were. We were just out yesterday and they are finally moving to the shallows.
Just seen one today. Didn't know they were in Texas
That’s awesome! Where did you see it? We are in Hamilton Texas which I understand is at the Western border of their range.
Giddings Texas. Have otters always been in Texas? WE have Beavers around here but this is kind of new to me, it got hit by a car so everybody was stopping to see it cause they were puzzled too.
@@979djyoungc my understanding is that they have always been in east texas and Louisiana and are probably native in central texas as well but were killed out. Now they are making a comeback and moving their territory west
@@979djyoungc www.texasmonthly.com/travel/river-otters-on-the-rise-in-texas/. This was an article from a few years ago in Texas Monthly
That was a lot of honey for such a small box. You got lucky with them moving up. I have seen that it is very hard to get them to move up on plastic without any honeycomb already established but I guess the hives were going so strong they decided to fill it out. It might not have happened with the original bees.
You are absolutely right! I was surprised for sure. I have spread out those with drawn comb now into my other hives so hopefully they will produce better this year! Thanks so much for watching!
Wow. That was a full blown attack. They did not enjoy that pickup ride. That's scary. Probably also have been crossed with local bees that are a lot more aggressive. My sister got me bees for Christmas and I have the exact same setup as you so interesting to see. I guess the first bunch thought they could better than a store bought hive. They did not get much done. I get mine from Mountain Sweet Honey in a couple of months.
Yes that was a scary day. They were ticked off at me. I did not use smoke because I thought all I was going to do was open the door for them and walk away. I won’t ever make that mistake again. Check out my later video where I got the honey from them though. They were much calmer and produced a lot of delicious honey.
@@cfjranchoutdoors I don't think the smoke would of helped except to give you a running start. They probably needed an hour or so to settle down.
@@randomthoughtsfromacrazedm3372 probably true! 😂. They are way better now thankfully!
Good luck! Nice job. We have 150 trees kanzi, Ochnee, Pawnee. Our orchard is 11 years old now. New follower.
Thanks so much for watching. Trees are doing great. Can't wait until spring to see them take off. Just checked out your channel as well. I have been out to Telephone before. ;) Subscribing
I tried planting in my backyard, but the squirrels kept stealing them. So I tried inside. I have 2 that already have leaves.
That’s great! They are beautiful trees. Mine outgrew their pots pretty quickly. Be sure to transplant them all in the spring. Good luck! 🍀
Hi.. cool video. Gives me an idea what to expect at Racha Yai.. May I please know also what the name of the song starting at the 8:45 mark is? TY
Thanks for watching! Not sure what that song is. I was making my videos with CapCut and it was a free song on there. Wish I was going back with you! Safe travels and have a great trip!
Wow! Exciting! Cant wait for some samples!!!
Yes, thanks for the advice! They were probably a little over half a mile from my hives, so hopefully good on that. Thanks for watching!
Be careful leaving leftover honey too close to your hives. Foreign bees will be attracted for miles, and when the leftover honey runs out, they might find your hives next and raid them if they're too weak.
Major action on the Pecan, I see! 😂
Definitely! 😜Although it is pretty much dry now… this was right after we got a good rain this spring. Ready for some more of the wet stuff
Ew
I really appreciate you! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much @Dara-Fishing

Looked like a perfect adventure, enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching @FishingTexan . We had a great time! Hope you enjoy some adventures of your own.
Too sit in the shade of a tree is good. Too sit in the shade of a tree You planted is great. ☆
So true! These trees are now mostly in the ground as young saplings. Not quite providing that shade yet, but give it a few years. :)
This is awesome! Your coaches reaction is priceless! 😊
Congratulations!!

Back in the late 80's my father and I and one other man from where we lived had night trolling for stripers all to ourselves for several years on Lake Whitney. We called out 25 lb stripers as they were not big enough to keep with his many very large stripers that we were. The last time I went rolling at night on Lake Whitney I watch my brother in his boat tangle downrigger wires with some jackass they got way too close. I would do just about anything for another fishing trip with my Daddy.
That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing. This trip was with my son and one of his buddies. Can’t beat a good fishing trip and the memories we make! Thanks for watching!
Going there this weekend, any lures you recommend?
We used a 3/8 oz jig head with a Watermelon or opening Night colored Little Jon XL. Also some rattle traps work as well. The fish are still deep so you have to get the bait down to them. Good luck to you!
Wow! Nice fish!!! Congrats!
Awesome catch!
Thanks for watching Marcos!
Sorry, not a giant, a good eating size but no giant 😮
It is rare to catch one this big on Lake Whitney. If you live in the Northeast you are correct.
Thanks for watching!
You're right about that. Every one I catch seems to be 17inches. Thrown back more than I kept.
I had fun fishing w y’all
Glad you could join Lawson! Have to do it again soon!
Love the vid keep it up😂
oh gosh! good catch colter!
Thanks for watching Lyla! 😊
No thumper for Striper fishing?
We actually do have a thumper. These fish were all in shallow water. Air temps had been in the 70s for 3 days in a row and they were in 3 ft of water
