I went to a thrift store and bought an aluminum cake pan to do my carb cleans in. That way when I dump out the fuel in the bowl I can see if it's cruddy or there is water in there. This also lets you know if you should flush the fuel line and fuel pump. Might also need to flush the tank.

I have the same engine i am wonder if its possible to mount to a frame and ride as a bike if possible engine turns over no spark

I got my cover off.... and pretty much all the oil in the machine came pouring out. Somewhat confused at this point.

Good video but you did not replace that broken gasket on top of the float bowl. Mine is broken as well can you just run with out it or do you have to replace or use RVT

Are you missing the little square gasket thar should go inside the bottom of the float bowl?

Main jet has a thick hole. Low speed jet hole is much thinner and you need to clean it. It is screwed behind the black rubber. I have done it many times in a large number of carburators that keep getting dirty too easy. I'm desperate!

Man been trying to rebuild my 7.5 for awhile now just took off the flywheel tonight after pulling it all day with barely any spark in the mfer I found the spark plug wire connecting to the electrical box is fried so I’m hoping that’s all it is 🙏

Your bowl is missing the gasket that sits on the bottom of the bowl.

Very often we take youtube postings like this for granted. I have a 1993 15 HP Johnson, and I wanted to clean the carb. Your video enabled me to get at the carb in 5 minutes ! The little metal rod was the clincher ! Thank you very much !

So does the water go through thermostat before it gets to tell tale? Why does it need to close? What is the negative of just removing it and having water flow around head at all times instead of only when thermostat opens?

Very good description. My motor gives problems at the start of every season. Also the gear change lever breaks if you lay the motor down on that side. Will never buy another Mercury. Yamaha for ever.
