Heat pumps are amazing. Heat pump water tanks are beyond ridiculous. New monoblock units should take care of that but the current setups are absurd.

Weird that the solar panels aren't on the rooves of the houses too and just used as shades for the parking.

I am building a new off grid Homestead. We have a 20kw soloar system. The heat pump water heater looks like a winner

Except when there is no sun and it is cold. Then it looks like you'll be using a wood burning stove.

Ive been in HVAC for 36 years now, I have and continue to install many heat pumps every year. From basic stuff to hybrid systems from Mitsubishi and Bosch. But there is zero evidence of man made global warming, it has been debunked over and over. And we need more co2 not less, plants need co2 more co2 greener planet, more crops. The fact is that the climate changes over time based on various impacts, primarily the sun. It always has and it always will. I don't know about solar panels, but its been proven that it takes more carbon to produce wind turbines and thus their is no net savings over their lifespan. Plus they kill birds by the millions, that is when the wind blows, they spin, except for the broken ones not spinning. Wind turbines are a scam.

If you have solar with battery storage maybe. At California rates no.

I would point out that a heat pump will produce less carbon than fossil fuel heating, even if the electricity is generated from coal. If you assume the fossil fuel appliance is 80% efficient and that the coal-fired generator is 40% efficient, then a heat pump at 400% efficiency will produce half the carbon of the fossil fuel appliance. In practice, the grid is rarely just coal generated so the carbon savings will be greater.

I wish there was a system that put the heat from a heat pump hvac system into a water heater in the summer. Of course it wouldn’t work in the winter.

You can modify the compressed refrigerant before condensor to a coil and put it undet water and then let iy continue to the condensor. That's it you get free warm water

30 mins for 150 miles is still too long and time itself is money. I refuel my ICE cars more than 300 miles in 5 minutes.

EV's are great for a select few who can afford to lose money. 20 year old cars are affordable and reliable for 100's of millions of people. EV's are toxic paper weights at 20 California is a prime example of how not to regulate and legislate.

3:07 - "3 miles per kWh"?? That is pretty sucky "milage". I have a Model S Plaid and my average "milage" (including mountain driving and A/C - I live in AZ) is 3.68 miles per kWh. The Model 3 and Model Y can do significantly better. The Model 3 has an MPGe of 132 which converts to 6.8 miles per kWh and the Model Y has an MPGe of 122 which converts to 6.3 miles per kWh. So the most popular EV Teslas are twice as good as your "estimate".

Firstly, efficiency can’t be more than 100% 😅Secondly, heat pumps have a fan and a compressor which runs on Electricity. Fan has to be running all the time, I guess. If air is not hot enough then it will use the inbuilt electric heater 😅 How will it save electricity??

Our AO Smith element hot water tank is 27 ( twenty seven yes ) so I guess it about time for a new hybrid hot water tank. Here is the problem, once the contractors found out we are getting the tax credit and power company rebate, they jacked up the prices and now they want $5 K to $8 K including the hybrid unit. I tried to tell them the tax credit was for the consumer , not the contractor ( through raising the price ) but they don't seem to care. Any suggestions other than just to put in a conventional tank in. Can't see any savings with the initial price so high and only saving $400 per year.

I thought that you were going to talk about some of the disadvantages of these hot water tanks ? What about the noise that they produce ??? That is a major concern for many people. This was more La La Land California , save the planet propaganda. Greasy Gavin Newsom will be proud.

I’ll be getting a heat pump water heater soon. From what I gathered, one has to clean the compressor every so often. Depending on the model, that can be a pain.
