Pollar express in real life
What time in night ?
When I was little, I had an electric train set of which the engine was "The Duchess of Atholl". It was painted the same colour as the engine in the video.
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore; not they did back in 1954!
What a wonderful sight.
Excellent video :-). Duchess of Sutherland, a splendid looking engine indeed :-). Wonderful :-). Its certainly not often I go rail trainspotting at London Victoria Station but nonetheless an excellent video all the same :-). Excellent departure of this enchanting looking steam engine steaming and leaving London Victoria Railway Station :-). Well shot :-). Well done :-). Thanks indeed for sharing so :-). I certainly do hope all is well and I wanted to repeat thrusting out my utmost thanks for sharing this wonderful, excellent, enchanting and most interesting video of yours of the wonderful steam engine, Duchess of Sutherland :-). See you later Kiddleston :-). Many happy returns :-). From your new friend Foxy in Brighton, East Sussex, England, UK :-D :-D :-).
It's good that one of them is still running, pity the others aren't. I guess Mallard will never run again as she is just too precious to both this nation and indeed the wider world. Wouldn't it be nice if they built a new one.......?
Fantastic video 👍. Made the hairs on my neck stand up . I saw Union of South Africa at Severn valley soMe years ago ,We used to be good at everything once , what the effing hell went wrong with our country ☹️
I love these trains my dad used to drive them I am from Darlington co durham where the railway started Anne Livett
Don’t want to sound weird but I bet it smelled great in there for hours after!
Especially enclosed in the King's Cross... The smell of hot brass and vigorous steam at the moment was memorable for sure!
I took the footplate experience twice with her ..... she is amazing .
Completely envy!
you can't run a high intensity coal fire inside a mostly closed shed .... the whole place gets smokey and sooted up
Such a beautiful loco - one of my favourites
Surely the don't go all the way to Edinburgh in reverse 🤔
Just the sheer elegance......majestic.
They always over do the drain cocks, engine disappears in unneccesary clouds of steam ! seldom saw that in BR days
Real trains, absolutely lovely
Greta thunberg has just commented how dare you all ze smoke you have ruined my childhood 😂😂😂😂😂
With her private jets and her bodyguards.
The Duchesses have been one of my favourite loco's since first seeing them in the early 60s. So wonderful that not only is this one preserved but is kept to such an amazingly high standard! A sight and sound experience to treasure.
Still going strong this old lady .I hope she has more happy year to come. 😚😚
Interesting :-). Very interesting shot indeed :-). Thanks indeed most for sharing this :-).
Gorgeous
why did i think it was mallard for a second 😂
For sure have not seen the Mallard moving around on her own steam for quite some while! Would definitely be a sight :D
❤ Flying Scotsman

SO much leaking steam. What on earth is the matter with maintenance nowadays?
its a steam engine, steam engines steam like crap
It was not leaking at all,
It's POWERED by steam. In fact, if there are less to no steam on this thing, THEN we got a problem
@Keith tanner. Cylinder drain cocks open on starting , less chance of blowing off a cylinder cover
Fab to see at Swanage
Super shots ! 👍
033 23, Subject to Khan's ULEZ ?
Great to see this footage, happy memories (I was a volunteer platform steward on a couple of the days). However, wasn't it October 2022 rather than Nov? The view from the footbridge gives a different perspective, showing Scotsman's double chimney. Also hadn't realised the Devon Belle observation car and Maunsell coach had cream roofs! This was Flying Scotsman's first passenger working after overhaul and was useful for sorting out a couple of teething troubles; the Swanage Railway mechanics did a fine job!
Oh yes you are absolutely correct.. Thank you for pointing out that careless mistake mate!
Nice video. We were hoping to ride in June but it’s sold out. Just subscribed too
Appreciate the support mate... Steam on!!
I needed to know why don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it bigger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into a High-Speed train? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train station in Chingford could they extend the DLR? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! And please do something about these very important Professional ideas Please Prime Minister of England, the Prime Minister of Sweden, the Prime Minister of Germany, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.
I love the echo of the whistle👏
I think that’s the same Pullman Observation Car that it hauled around USA and Canada in 1970.
Yes indeed! It was stranded overseas for quite a while in San Francisco, until recently being repatriated and sent back to the UK in 2007-08!
HI FROM GREEN BAY WISCONSIN USA 🇺🇸 😀!!!!! GO PACKERS, N.F.L., LOL!!!!! 4472 VISITED OUR NRRM IN 1970, AND LEFT 2 PULLMAN CARS, NAMED "LYDIA", AND "ISLE OF THANET". BUT SADLY THEY SUFFERED BADLY FOR 30 YEARS WITH VANDALISM, THEFT OF ARTIFACTS, AND MISMANAGEMENT IN 1984 WHEN THE OUTSIDERS MANAGEMENT GROUP DECIDED TO REPAINT THEM WITH THE SLOPPY JOB OF YELLOW PAINT ALING THE WINDOWS, AND BROWN PAINT ON THE BODY THAT COVERED THE ELEGANT GOLDEN LETTERS AND STRIPES. AND STORED outdoors IN THE OPEN ENDED TRAIN PAVILLION, AND SUFFERED BADLY IN THE FREEZING COLD WISCONSIN 🥶 WINTERS, THEN IN 2001 THESE 2 CARS WERE SENT BACK TO ENGLAND 🇬🇧 😀 👍 YAY!!! AT THE NRM IN YORK THEY WERE PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED TO THEIR GLORIOUS HISTORICAL CONDITION, AND DISPLAYED AS A SMALL PART OF THE CHURCHILL FUNERAL TRAIN IN THE 1960S. THEN IN 2013 THE EISENHOWER 60008 A4 GRESLEY STREAMLINER, WAS ALSO SENT BACK TO YORK FOR REPAINTING, AND PARTICIPATED IN THE GRAND GATHERING FOR MALLARD 75 FROM 1938. 60008 WAS RETURNED TO THE NRRM IN GBW IN 2015, NOW RESTORED, AND DISPLAYED NEXT TO OUR BIG BOY 4017. GOD BLESS US ALL, IN ENGLAND 🇬🇧 AND AMERICA 🇺🇸, AND ALL AROUND THIS WORLD 🌎 🙏!!!!! GLORY ALLELUIA!!!!! AMEN ✝️ 🙏! WED., MARCH 1, 2023, A.D.// S.E.S. OK, 12:19 P.M.C.
The observation car, unlike the engine, is now permanently at the Swanage Railway where it has been beautifully restored. The people who went for the luxury afternoon tea seemed to enjoy it very much! But it can be enjoyed all the year there behind various other steam engines. Hoping to get connecting trains from Wareham in 2023.
Happy Birthday to the Flying Scotsman. One of the two world famous steam engines. The other being Union Pacific Big Boy 4014.
Can't believe that this engines 100 years old. Now that's amazing.
Wow... !!! My best friend, It's always great. I wish you every day of your development. Have a happy day!
🚂🚃🚃🚃 💛🧡❤💛
A truly handsome machine. 👍 🇬🇧
I love the Duchess, mellow through and through from this paint scheme, the Stanier whistle to her 'bark', which is more of the woof of a great Dane.
Nigel's in good shape. Splendid and handsome as ever.
It's not pushing, it's a precaution because main line must be kept clear.
I would certainly say it had a push during the start out of the station. As powerful as the Duchess is, it couldn't accelerate like that from a standing start with that load.
wait so mainline railtour diesels do not push the train but are just simply pulled, always thought they helped
It was doing most of the work there
@@DarlingtonWorks1863 thats what they say when you hand them (a lot) money. but they seem to be shoving hard most of the time these days.
an almost totally unnecessary precaution. and the excuses as to why these buckets of scrap are on the back polluting the experience for which you pay varies depending on whom you ask suggesting its really there to lessen the work being done by the loco...
Absolutely beautiful
?00
Loved the arrival scene, which also had LNER prominently displayed on the train in the adjacent platform. Also well done to the footplate crew for the chime whistle.
Gotta love the class 91 at the back... and the whistle's definitely a blast! (no pun intended!!)
Why is there a diesel loco pushing at the back ?
Gotta due to the mainline steam protocols I reckon... Check out the Ebor Flyer incident in 2018 where 60163 Tornado breaks down on the mainline and holds up a heck lot of traffic while waiting for a diesel tow!!
Also, the diesel is able to supply heating to the coaches as the steam heating arrangements has long since been removed even from old Mk 1 stock. The diesel makes things easier at the other end of the journey enabling the train to be propelled out of the station to a suitable location/siding without the need to summon a shunter or other loco to do this which would necessitate additional planning, time, money, risk assessment...you get the picture.
larger profits. less work being done by the steam in addition to ever spiralling costs for tickets. std class on a uk tour now around 110 quid average. sold as steam tours. can fly to france and have 2 days on a 241p on the sncf mainline in 1st class for roughly the same. or go to denmark and do copenhagen to helsingor on a 1900 4-4-0 with wooden bodied 4 wheel carriages on the dsb mainline. note these are not broken down loser countries, they are tip of the top of the 1st world pile with modern infrastructure and demands and yet id expect both to be sans diesel. which tells us its really just excuse making in blighty as per...
@@andrewyoung749 Yeah, seems UK has become a broken down loser country
Just simply awesome. Lovely filming.
Appreciate the compliment! 😀
The sound of that whistle reminds me of my childhood happy times !
Hi there I'm looking to find out how I go about finding out what steam trains are running and where they are running
