Fun clan battle showing off a bit of zellbrigen rules (mostly seen on the targeting graphics) on a very cold Durgan City and piloting some Pirate's Moon mechs every now and then. Unity Mechwarrior 3 AMS implementation

Just implemented this. Not sure if I got the AMS fire rate correctly (8 fires per burst and using MRM 40 vs 8 missile takedown as reference), but I think it looks nice, and even a bit funny.

Reading files and scene data directly from the original Mech3 asset database. This is not a "remake" but a fair rebuild of the engine itself. Bushwacker has a strange skip on its running animation, which has been fixed by now. Soundtrack: Solar Fields - Light Control

Very.. very dark night version based on the Colmar Highlands map. Made this dark in purpose for representing one of the Mechwarrior 3: Pirate's Moon night maps.

Unity port of Mechwarrior 3?! thats actually crazy, gotta check this out
A Dire Wolf jump scare a 3:35, the worst kind of jump scare. This looks amazing though!
The best Mechwarrior 3. On Unity?! How? Is it a port?
Yes, it requires the original game installed, then the Unity add-on loads every asset and some extras added by our team.
I still feel nervous about playing in these enclosed spaces because the original Zipper engine has a nasty tendency to chunk the Head if you bump into any low ceiling... I hope you fixed *that* particular bug.
Is this open source? Where can we get this? This is awesome (well technically its a bushwacker)
You can get it on unmech3.org , but you also need the classic game installed and patched to 1.2
lighting looks friggin awesome there Sake!!! imagine if this is what it looked like 25 years ago :D
that sparkler hack back in the day with this installed would have burned the house down
what about the lrm deep crater hack XD
this has come a long way
Those JJs are very smooth, nice.
The pinnacle of Mech bro coding
Is there a download for this?
Wow - now we need vehicles, aerospace fighters and heavy artillery. This could be the ultimate wargame, from the jumppoint to the palace.
Any chance of vr support for this in the future? Feel like Mech3 would be a good fit because of the cockpit models and glass impacts
Why Mechwarrior 2 and 3 I feel then realistic (like simulators) and 4 and 5 like an arcade game? I dont like 4 and 5 maps, look like you are in a forced closed area
Wow... seriously loving the look of this :o
can't wait for the campaign to work with this
oh yeah baby
It looks so good! There’s still some uncanniness in the way some of the explosion/smoke visual effects cast light, but besides that it’s so faithful and really does the game justice!
that poor soldier @2:10 ... will have to send a letter ^_^ you can actually see his soul leaving his body 2:12.... amazing <3
Keep up the good work!
It's getting better and better.
Nice, impact animations are in!
LET'S GOOOOO
Can you do mechwarrior 1 and 2 next?
This project has been so cool to keep up with man, I really love seeing this continue to grow. I might need to re-build my sim-pit sometime soon 😂
NO WAY this is really amazing
Amazing work old friend!
I had just been thinking about this project a few weeks ago after I got my old Mechwarrior 3 disks to run after getting the ZipperFixup for it. Absolutely splendid to see another upload! Really nice to see stuff like medium mechs doing work in this video, since I know doing missions in lighter mechs just got you killed on Hard difficulty in the original where the focus always seemed to be on going full Assault mechs as apposed to getting to enjoy lighter mechs for their unique roles, so I do hope this port allows them viability. One of the cool things about this game is definitely the Ops being all one big map, but being unable to explore it all in one run due to mission boundaries, it would be really cool to explore unrestricted as an old player without the splits in loading through this perhaps, especially if multiplayer's a thing this port plans on having someday. Do you suppose Pirate's Moon itself, or at least some of its contents are possible for inclusion in the unity port someday too? I have to wonder if it's possible to see that if this project ever reaches a complete framework, especially because we were denied Alan's Atlas from the intro as something to pilot until Pirate's Moon, and Elementals in any campaign form. That and Pirate's Moon is still quite a splendid experience, and having a port of it someday would rock, but one step at a time, as they say. It's extremely nice to see this update, so to ask, is there a good way to connect with this community on Discord still? Or at least be pointed in the right direction? I saw an invite on an older video to a Mechwarrior 3 server thing, but the invite invalid showed up because it likely expired. Keeping up with this project and the Mechwarrior 3 community would be really swell, especially this project as there's so much potential in this unity port as one of the most exciting pieces of fan work in years since I still play the older Mech games today. You have my support no matter how, keep up the wonderful work and know that your commitment to this port will always be appreciated!
Thank you very much! Pirate's moon is now partially supported, but the library in charge of reading the original assets can't quite reinterpret the world files yet. Progress is being made, however. Mechs from the expansion are already accessible in theory, but I haven't updated the port to read them just yet. You can connect to the community here: discord.gg/J2yfqAWV It is pretty much the main mech3 hub right now. We try to hold multiplayer matches every sunday via Gameranger or direct IP connection, and have a vast array of instructions to get it working. Multiplayer on the unity port is already in place and we have already had many matches. I should however forewarn you that the port is very different in regards to mechlab equipment and control schemes, so it needs a bit of relearning. We sought to go full classic battletech rules also, so the mechlab has a bit of an intimidating collection of items now. Hope to see you around soon!
To be honest, hearing that forewarning about the mechlab being different and needing relearning it, with tons stuff based on full classic battletech rules, and all the new weapons sounds actually _leagues_ better than it does vanilla. MechWarrior 3's got a foundation to make it all work with it's paper doll mech mechanics, so if there was ever a game that works nicely with the rules, it would be Mech3, so immediately I understood why the project would lean into something like that.
I wish you get this project as good as Unity-Daggerfall. This game definitely deserves fresh coat of paint and people's love.
Great work! But MW3 with semi-modern lighting looks somehow ... weird to me. Not something I am expecting from MW3. Still, it's REALLY great!
The project is running on Unity's linear color space, so lighting looks a bit off right now. Just tried gamma space instead and it looks a lot closer to the original. I never thought of that.
It's so wild to see a game I know so well but it's just sliiiiiiightly different. Excellent work.
SO MUCH YES
How do you extract assets from game?
Damn, that looks great
Is this still being worked on?
Seems the cracks on the cockpit ferroglass are predetermined on the cockpit model and MW3 can visually hide them from view until you take Head damage. I assume you're having trouble hiding those decals in Unity?
Sorry it took me a long while to respond... They are predetermined by the 3D model and can be very easily hidden. I just haven't done anything about them yet, focusing on the bigger aspects of the game first like mechlab, AI or multiplayer.
0:07 I legit smiled when your 'Mech did the little step-in-place before properly starting to run. That's attention to detail there.
It looks like you took the cockpit model and scaled it down to fit inside the external model because not only can you see the twin Machine Guns and ER Large Laser on the nose but the legs as well. I like that approach because it gives a much better sense of scale like Wandering Samurai did in Living Legends. I'd like to see how this turns out.
this looks like a very solid basis, not sure whether you want to keep the original assets but if you want to improve the graphics over the original I might be able to help with the 3d assets. keep up the great work!
Hey Sake. How are you doing bro? Very long time no see.
Hey man! Indeed it's been crazy long. I'm doing well and hope it's the same for you in times like these. I'm hanging out on the mech3 discord server a lot now, come and check it out! Plenty of nice folks in there.
@@Sake906 Do ya got a invite? The one below don't seem to be working anymore. :)
@@AKNightHawk discord.gg/pE4tgFHU here you go!
This is awesome. do you have like a discord or some group for more info?
We definitely do! It's the main mech3 discord ran by old school zone players.
@@Sake906 oh uh how i get into that server? or should i say could i have an invite or something?
Missiles are still OP lol, but at least AMS works now
Hey Sake!! That looks awesome. You make me miss playing MW3 :( Hope you're doing well my friend.
There's no memory of this game without your name on it man. I'm so glad to see you around again! I'm not sure if you use it, but if you're on Discord you should definitely visit the mech3 server, plenty of folks from the Zone days in there. We have matches every Sunday, and a series of threads dedicated to getting the game to run on modern PCs. I'm doing well, and hoping you're as well.
Awesome!
YEAAAAAAH
Hell yeah
I am now very interested...
I don't know exactly what I'm seeing here but I feel like there's a lot of potential here.
very cool, i believe you
Looking good, keep up the great work.
