First Story. My sister was given 15-20 years notice that her liver was getting bad. That she had to quit drinking and smoking. She wouldn't stop either until the day she died. She was like a skeleton with skin, her belly would get extended out as it filled with fluid, and she would have to go and have it drained. She had several years at the end to stop but still she would not. She would not do anything to stop. I offered to be tested as a donor, but she was not a candidate for transplant because she would not stop drinking. She died in 2010 at age 67. Her father (we had different dads) died of the same thing in his 50s. My sisters youngest son died in 2015 at age 48 of a heart attack brought on by his years of drinking. I am not a drinker. There is even more to the story, but I will stop here.

Three people in the first story husband and wife both have great southern accents but his mother has no accent what so ever.

Ok so the term "Getting along like a house on Fire" was never a good thing. It never meant they got along so well. It meant that the people Hated each other. You never want a House to catch fire because it can destroy the house. So saying two people got along like a house on fire, always meant they fight constantly and can get destructive. Idk who or where people got the idea it was a GOOD thing to get along like that. But when we said people got along well we would say "Like to peas in pod." Or "Like Birds of a feather"
