Tabasco Factory Tour! @Explore More With Sue
What a spicy adventure! Tabasco pepper sauce has been produced since 1868, and is known around the world (it's available in almost 200 countries). With its distinctive red color, white label, bright green foil wrap, and red cap, a bottle of Tabasco is easily recognized. Located on Avery Island, Louisiana, the factory is a scenic 2-hour drive from New Orleans. There is a museum, a gift shop with tasting opportunities, a nature walk, and a self-guided tour.
If you like hidden gems like I do, a visit to the Tabasco factory is well worth it!

Carnival Valor Review April 2024
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.3 месяца назад
We sailed on a 4-night cruise out of New Orleans on 4/25-29/2024. Our aft balcony cabin, 6487, was spacious and had quite a bit of privacy. While the service, food, entertainment and ship maintenance weren't up to the usual Carnival standards, we still had a great time. Sailing out of New Orleans is easy and sailing along the Mississippi River is definitely a high point. Please feel free to que...
Pier Runners in Cozumel-Carnival Valor April 27, 2024

Watching “pier runners” (people who don’t return to the ship on-time and are in danger of the ship leaving without them) is something that many experienced cruisers enjoy doing. (Simply pick a spot with a view of the pier and gangway, and let the fun begin!) Cozumel is one of the best places in the world to see pier runners (the combination of being on vacation and not paying attention, lack of...

Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah is known for its large collection of brilliant red and orange “hoodoos”. Hurtigruten’s MS Trollfjord REVIEW “North Cape Express”

We sailed on Hurtigruten’s MS Trollfjord “North Cape Express” voyage from December 31, 2023 through January 13, 2024. The ship holds 500 passengers, but we were lucky and had only 250 on our voyage; the passengers were from 16 different countries, including Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Brasil, and the U.S.. Great video and some helpful tips from your experience. We've just booked the Bergen to Oslo Cruise in February 2025. It sounds like you did the same cruise and enjoyed it. There appears to be loads of opportunity to spend time in different locations, did you take loads of Norwegian Kronor or could you use contactless payment? If it's not too intrusive, what kind of cabin did you have?

    • @ExploreMoreWithSue
      @ExploreMoreWithSue 3 месяца назад

      @anonymouspdg6121 Thank you for your comments. We did the same cruise you will be doing in February. We arrived in Bergen two days before the cruise departed so that we could spend some time there. Taking the cable car to the top of the mountain was definitely a highlight. (If you do that, make sure you take coils/spikes for your shoes because there were some very icy parts at the top.) There is lots of time to spend in almost all of the ports. We enjoyed walking around the villages and meeting some of the locals. We visited a lot of yarn shops. ;0) We went on a few hikes, and even took part in a 5K race (we walked while everyone else ran) in Tromso. There are some excellent museums in several ports (some of them are small and not very well marked, so you have to search for them). The Hurtigruten museum is right next to the dock in Stokmarknes and is not to be missed. (Allow more time here than you think you'll need.;0).) I have posted photos and descriptions of many of the ports on my Explore More With Sue Facebook page, in case you'd like more details. We actually didn't use any Norwegian Kronor as credit cards are accepted everywhere. It made it very simple. We had cabin 631, which technically is "obstructed view"...but it was not completely obstructed (many are fully obstructed by a lifeboat) and we could see things out of the window. Cabin 622 is the same. Since our cruise was during early January, we knew we weren't going to get much daylight and we wouldn't be able to see much out of the window anyway. Plus, we were only in our cabin to sleep, shower and change clothes. We were extremely happy with the cabin, and we got a bit of a price break because it was "obstructed view". Deck 6 has a walkway all the way around the ship, so all of the cabins on that deck are next to the walkway (so...people walking around can see in if it's dark outside and the lights are on inside the cabin, if the curtains aren't closed; during the day, the windows reflect so it's not as easy to see in). I hope you have a great time on your cruise! Please feel free to ask any additional questions here or you can email me at exploremorewithsue@gmail.com.

      so good of you to reply and with really useful information! We didn’t fancy deck 6 and the walking route so decided on deck 4 which although lower down isn’t much different, apart from a lower vantage point but as you mentioned, it’s going to be restricted daylight and we probably won’t be in the cabin much. So many things to experience and enjoy! Thanks again for your video and information.

      @@anonymouspdg6121 You made a great choice by picking Deck 4. It's a relatively small ship, so everything is very convenient. You'll be close to the free laundry room ;0) (Laundry detergent isn't free, and it's rather expensive at the guest services desk (plus there is a really strong smell) so I would suggest picking up a small amount in Bergen if you think you will be doing laundry.) Thank you again for your kind review. P.S. If you are on Facebook, I posted details and photos of many of the ports we visited on my Explore More with Sue page (I have a private and a public group).

    On our sailing, there was a "daily activities" show with 2 members of the crew discussing what was on the schedule that day. This was live, but was also being filmed, so my guess is that it was probably re-run on the TV. So you learn that XYZ was at noon, but also what that consisted of. They'd talk about the next day's port and what you could do there as well, and if you were in the roundabout, after the planned discussion it was open for questions. This took the place of a lot of what would be announcements on other ships, but was more informative. There is a small smoking room that is part of the casino, but because it is a separate room with a closed door, it doesn't stink up the rest of the ship. A couple things worth mentioning--the gratuities include not only the normal "daily" amount that other lines charge, but also the tips on the spa, bar items, etc. We offered a tip at the spa and were politely told that grats were included and that she was well paid by the cruise line! That $10 glass of wine is really $10, not $11.80 or $12 as on some other lines that charge auto-grats on bar items. We liked our first VV cruise enough that we booked 3 more using the rebooking while on board offer.

      Hi Semaebu. The gyms on Carnival usually have pretty convenient hours, opening around 6am and closing at 8pm or later. I sailed on the Panorama in October 2021, so the hours may have changed since then. Double check once you get onboard. In general, going right after it opens or in the early evening until closing will be the least crowded times.

      Hi Teresa H. Thank you for watching my video(s). As an avid cruiser/traveler, I want to help get as much info as possible out there, so that people can learn about different destinations, cruise lines, etc. There is no doubt that every ship, and more specifically, every cruise line has its own personality. I am excited for you to sail on the Breakaway! When we sailed in August, it was our first cruise on NCL, so it was really fun to see the ship through the eyes of a "novice". We sailed on the Panorama twice...September and October 2021; since cruising was just getting up and running again, the number of passengers was definitely less than "normal". We also have sailed on Princess many times. Since you recently experienced Carnival, and you've sailed mostly with Princess, I look forward to hearing your opinion on how they compare to each other and NCL. Plus, you'll be sailing out of New Orleans! What a great experience to cruise down the Mississippi River. I hope you have a fabulous time!

      HI Robert. O'Sheehan's definitely sounds Irish; the menu includes "English Style Fish and Chips" (and also nachos and buffalo wings ;0)); NCL describes it as a "pub". In an effort to give equal representation, I called it an English pub in the video, but an Irish pub in the description on the Explore More With Sue Facebook page. Whichever type of pub you prefer to call it, NCL has a winner with this space, as the atmosphere and food are both worthy of a visit (or two or three).

    We just came back last night, and we had fun. Didn't get to do the sky ride though but hopefully next time. The only thing I was meh about is the Port Cabo San Lucas. We docked for a short period of time, nothing to do and nothing to see. Yes you can go arches and swim in the beach, shop and eat and that's very much it. It just sounds exciting when you see the port on the iterinary but meh 😐 (that's just me). But definitely will sail again with Panorama, but I'll just stay in the ship when we get to Cabo ahaha.

      Hello! Thank you so much for letting me know about your experience. I'm so happy you had fun. I think there are a lot of people who love Cabo, and others who feel the same way you do. One thing that's AMAZING is the large number of whales that are there during migration season (December-April). If you get a chance to go there again, try to schedule it during that time; the number of whales is astounding, and going out in one of those little sketchy-looking boats that are right there on the pier, is an easy way to see them up close! You now have an excuse to go on the Panorama again, since you also have to experience the Sky Ride!!! Happy travels!

    Hello Sue How are you doing today?🌿🌻

    I've become an instant fan of yours! We're considering the Panorama for February. My concern is from a vlogger who said everything was great except the food (non specialty). That being said, you were perfectly explicit in your dining room description (hills and valleys).... but you kind of glossed over the buffet without a thumbs up. down or sideways lol. I'd love to know your thoughts on the buffet fare... we tend to buffet it a lot. Seriously looking forward to that deli ! ! ! Thank you for your reporting and you guys stay happy and healthy <3

      Hi Mike. Thanks for liking my videos! We definitely give the Panorama's buffet a thumbs up. There is a large variety of food and much of it changes daily. The hot items are plentiful, they have a great salad bar (it's a cereal & yogurt bar for breakfast), the deli has excellent sandwiches (or omelettes during breakfast) or you can make your own with meats, cheeses and bread, there are 2 flavors of gelato (with toppings) every day, and the dessert area (which is primarily cakes) has a large, rotating selection (we did find that the cakes looked better than they tasted). The food was fresh and was continually being replenished, and the buffet was spotless. The seating area is huge and it's really well-designed, with floor to ceiling windows, palm trees and a tropical feel. I think you will be very happy with the buffet. Except for the main dining room, and Jiji's (we LOVE all kinds of Asian food, but Jiji's just doesn't do it for us), the food on the Panorama is excellent. Stay healthy and let me know if you decide to sail on the "Pano". :0)

      @@ExploreMoreWithSue That summed it all up very nicely, thank you Sue ! We've done cruises where we never set foot in the MDR... so this was very helpful :)

    I love your sunglasses ! ! ! ! Looks like we're going to book Panorama for February. Overall would you give Panorama 2 thumbs up? My single concern at the moment was a vlogger who basically said it was great but the food wasn't. It sure LOOKS good.... what's your opinion? (non specialty). WOOP NEVERMIND ! ! ! I just found your "free of charge dining" video :)

    • @ExploreMoreWithSue
      @ExploreMoreWithSue 2 года назад

      Hi Mike. Thanks for the comment about the sunglasses! I'm so happy you've booked on the Panorama. I would definitely give the ship and activities a double thumbs up. Regarding the non-specialty food, we found it to be really good overall. The Blue Iguana is excellent (ah....that salsa bar!!!), Guy's Burgers is good, Pizzeria del Capitano is delicious (and available 24 hours). The buffet is quite good and many of the selections change daily. It was mainly the food in the main dining room (MDR) that wasn't the best. We sailed on the Panorama twice (September and October), and we ate in the MDR every night except 2, so we really gave it the old college try. We decided overall, it was a 6 on a scale of 10. The buffet, on the other hand, was a definite 8+. (Just for comparison, we sailed on the Miracle during Christmas, and the food in the MDR was much, much better than the Panorama. I guess it's just different chefs.)

    • @MikeSteinSeaTac
      @MikeSteinSeaTac 2 года назад

      @@ExploreMoreWithSue Thanks for the reply Sue. I agree that different head chef's will tend to skew the overall food quality one way or the other. We haven't sailed with Carnival since 2007 on the old Glory. My wife was dead set against it until she heard Jim Zim call Panorama his favorite ship.... that was all it took LOL.

    • @ExploreMoreWithSue
      @ExploreMoreWithSue 2 года назад

      Mike, I definitely agree that the chefs in the kitchen make all the difference. I'm sure you will enjoy the Panorama. Since the last time you sailed was on the Glory in 2007, you will be blown away by all of the food options. Remember those days when your only options were to choose between the buffet or the MDR? 😀 Those days are gone. There are so many choices now that it's mind-boggling. The Panorama is a beautiful, well-designed ship with so many things to do and places to eat that it's not possible check all of them off on a 7-night cruise. I look forward to hearing about your experience when you return from your voyage.🛳

      @@ExploreMoreWithSue Thanks for writing back Sue ! ! ! We've been cruising twice a year every year since 2007, just not with Carnival. We're platinum on NCL, have about 5 on Royal and 1 on Princess. I wanted to be on a ship to the Mex Riv for Superbowl Sunday. That means a choice between Panorama on 2/11 or NCL Joy on 2/12. I'm pushing for Panorama but the boss is leaning towards Joy..... I guess we'll see.

    • @ExploreMoreWithSue
      @ExploreMoreWithSue 2 года назад

      @@MikeSteinSeaTac I haven't been on the Joy, but the Panorama has an amazing sports bar (called Heroes' Tribute Bar). There are also screens in the casino, and a huge screen in Guy's Pig & Anchor. I am a sports fan, so I always pay attention to venues where people can watch their games/matches, etc. (I watched the New Year's Bowl games this year on the big screen above the pool on the top deck of the Majestic Princess. Go Utes!🏈)

    Hi Sue! Would be interested in knowing if they closed Buffett or stopped the shows or programs on board?

    • @ExploreMoreWithSue
      @ExploreMoreWithSue 2 года назад

      Hi Cheryl. The buffet is still going and it's got delicious options. Princess is serving everything, so when we go through the line, we let them know what we want & they put it on the plate. There are a few small portions of things (fruit cup, feta & olives, hummus) that are already in a glass or bowl at every meal & we can pick those up ourselves. Drinks, including water, are 100% served by the wait staff (except for small glasses of juice & fruit smoothies at breakfast). The wait staff also delivers the silverware & napkins (which are cloth). The shops are all open and operating during typical "cruise" hours. The shows are varied and are running every night. We are now on Day 6 & there hasn't been a typical Broadway production-type show, but we've had comedians, a magician, and an impresionist. All of the typical cruise-type activities are happening as well (trivia, enrichment, port talks, music, and of course, the inevitable art auctions). Right now, except for the mask requirement, I don't see much difference from what cruising was like pre-pandemic. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

      @@ExploreMoreWithSue Hi Sue, yes I will be cruising soon on that beautiful Majestic Princess! Was curious about how things are going on there! I was on the Grand Princess and it was awesome. Under 200 passengers on two of the cruises I took. They shut down the night buffet which was right to do due to low occupancy. Only one broadway type show a night at 9pm which I didn’t like being an early morning riser. Flexible is the key with cruising right now and I am good with that. Just love cruising! Take care and thanks again for the updates!

      Hi Cheryl. I'm so happy you've had a chance to cruise recently. 200 people on a ship?!? Wow! That would be quite an experience! The crew is telling people that there are around 2100 on this sailing, but it seems like there are more. It's very organized though (except for getting into the Concerto dining room). Enjoy your voyage on the Majestic Princess, and here's to more cruises in 2022 & beyond!
