Hi there, does anybody have this match...
Scotish snooker prodigy the goat
God bless hendry William Stuart ford
Even the pink was flawless
In the zone during this break
His cue ball control in his prime was so underrated
Stephen Hendry in his prime, GOAT.
God mode.
Easily the greatest middle pocket potter of all time !
you wonder what the laughter is about at the other table then you hear the ref say 'dennis taylor'
It was around that time when Stephen knew he could pot ANYTHING.....barely cared about his positioning.
its amazing, i watched snooker back in the day, and all i can remember of hendry is everyone talking about him during one tournament, think it was his first WC win. I dont remember him being there deep into the davis era trading blows as a really young dude
hendry and osulivan is a gift to snooker
Liquid stuff.
The GOAT...
Makes it look easy, from a young age he was very good ,a future champion in the making, and of course achieved so much in his career
And his key asset was his mental strength, he just couldn't be beaten on that
The man who changed the game
If Ronnie is The Rocket, Stephen must be the Torpedo. Hits you when you're not even aware of it.
Blimey... G'wan ya Celtic legend/Wee bonnie Scot'..🔥
Simply sublime, and he would only get even better.
Hendry was done 24 years ago at 30 years old when standards improved..He realised it was no more a bottler Jimmy or an over the hill Davis! Another overrated bum who just managed 355 centuries in a career spanning 40 years! Hendry was better still one of the most overrated players in history in today's high standards!
Utter piffle sir.
@@MeanMrMustard85 Hendry crumbled as soon as he faced real competition. If your name wasn’t Jimmy white then you had a good chance. Literally 4 of his 7 world titles were against Jimmy White…. Then Nigel Bond and Peter Ebdon. Wow. World class opposition…. Not!
You strike me as someone who is either just trying to be a contrarian, or knows far less about snooker than they think they do.
@@MeanMrMustard85 Seems to me you're absolutely clueless about snooker!
Bk when the picture shows just how BIG the tables are
Markheitz tables exactly same size as nowadays.
Tables were exactly same size 12×6
The only player ever where I knew when he came to the table it was frame over a total genius....never thought I'd say this but I miss him.He should hav won 2 more world titles.

@@toziassmittHe beat Ronnie at 3 World championships. He beat a young prime Mark Williams at world championships.. seriously get over yourself. As if you could do better
@@FreeThinkAlways what happened when he faced a Ronnie that wasn’t young? Prime Hendry vs a young and inexperienced Ronnie, that’s your point of pride? …okay 😂. Prime Ronnie slaps prime Hendry and we both know it- even Hendry has admitted so himself. He even admits Ronnie is better. PS make sure to zip up Hendrys trousers once you’re done blowing him
@@FreeThinkAlways And got pummeled by Ronnie in 2 world championships 17-6 & 17 -4,also Ronnie leads Hendry 9-4 in finals... @@outlawtorn49-oy4oh he beat a young, pre-prime Ronnie. Prime Ronnie dogwalks him
Good old days when people applauded exceptional shots, centuries and the winning of frames. Now people clap for the most average of shots, after every visit to the table, for crap breaks under 30, for getting to the “snookers required” stage. Not that some of these shots don’t deserve an applaud but I think it should be reserved for when something really good happens. Rant over.
The ref forgot to say 83.
You can tell when Hendry was at or near his peak just from looking in his eyes. He had this kind of expressionless glare which disappeared when his confidence started to go. Davis had the same thing in the ‘80s.
In the zone, see it in every sport, but more noticeable in snooker, as we observe one player at a time.
He looks like a predator.
It didn't disappear in 2009 and 2012 when unlike most professionals, don't even get close to a 147..never mind the World's. Depends on how you look at peaking I suppose. Maybe the 7 times he won it...watch the 147 he hit at the Liverpool Victoria vs Ronnie. That's again, peaking my friend
Ref clapping at the end. respect
I think the difference for me is watching Stephen in his hay-day and having seen O'Sullivan throughout his (through videos as well). I see in Hendry a man who simply couldn't be beaten. Total control at all times until the inevitable fall from grace due to age and time, but Ronnie throughout his career, for as naturally talented as he certainly is, was NEVER unbeatable. The numbers say it all. Five championships in a row. The record number of wins strung together without a miss. I simply do not understand how ANYONE can defend a position that Ronnie is the best of all time. Until someone topples Hendry's continued performance there simply isn't any question who the best is. Stephen Hendry, the "King" of the Crucible.
Well 99% of Hendry’s records have been broken by Ronnie, including the World Snooker Championship seven times, a modern era record he currently holds with Stephen Hendry. He has also won a record seven Masters and record seven UK Championship titles for a total of 21 Triple Crown titles, the most won by any player. He holds the record for the most ranking titles in professional snooker, with 39, and has held the world number one ranking on multiple occasions, the fastest and most 147 and he also holds the most 146’s. I’m sure they’re many more records he has broken as well. Although Stephen was a force in his day (along with Jimmy) and he was undoubtedly the best his of his era, but his prime only lasted for 10 years, unlike Ronnie who has been unstoppable for the past 25/30 years and has shown no signs of slowing down. Hendry said countless times O’Sullivan is far better than he ever was, and he’s honoured to share 7 with him (until he gets his 8th). I don’t understand how anyone can argue Hendry was better when pretty much all his accomplishments have been beaten by Ronnie O’Sullivan.
@@zlrs0113 I concede every one of your points but you stop short of the five consecutive wins. I still contend it will stand forever (at least as long as we draw breath) and that was the one Ronnie can't touch so he will never have them all! I also still contend that until five consecutive victories is shattered, only one man can stand at the top as the best ever. But I give full credit and kudos to Ronnie for his perseverance and natural ability. As I've said in the past, if there could ever be TWO best ever in any sports it would come tantalizingly close in snooker. There was a day that Ronnie was openly slanderous toward Hendry in the press and Hendry did not rebut verbally, he put Ronnie in his chair and Hendry let his cue do the talking (look that up if you're not aware of it). It wasn't pretty and Ronnie made a discrete, uncharacteristically quiet withdrawal after the match. I thought those days of acrimony (on Ronnie's part) were behind him as well as the ill will. As a whole, it's a shame that the "Ronettes" of the world are so quick and with such venom attack and belittle Hendry who has ALWAYS been as great an ambassador of the game as is Steve Davis. The game has been peppered with talented "personalities" who head-butt officials, openly cheated, argued, and fail to maintain a gentlemanly decorum and then Ronnie felt the urge to snipe. argue, act out and be openly disrespectful of the official during his seventh win (something I suppose your proud of). Ronnie needed to serve up a lot of lip service through the years as to how he respects the game and blah, blah, blah ... but here had to overshadow his own conquering moment with uncontrollable BS when he was in a commanding lead and on his way. Some people just can't help themselves and if that's the guy you want to revere and slander Hendry for anything, well, steam on brother. I won't ask you to change your mind and be assured, I will not change mine.
@@zlrs0113I personally base the goat debate on what the most important attributes are in snooker. Concentration amd consistency. Hendry had the best peak and to win the World and Masters 5 times in a row and to be as dominant as he was for a decent stretch in the 1990's proves he had the best Concentration and consistency. I keep hearing and seeing the same arguments about O'sullivan breaking his records and their h2h etc. Hendry still has records, the ones I mentioned above plus the 8 years consecutive no.1's, winning the triple crown in 2 seasons etc. He also has a 3-2 record against O'sullivan in the world championships. Also Hendry also competed in different eras, Davis/White and then the class of 92 for example and still held his own against Williams and Higgins. I don't have an issue with classing them both as goats because neither can replicate each others achievements. Even with O'sullivan smashing records it's now impossible for him to have done it in the time frame that Hendry did. O'sullivan is more naturally talented and has longevity on his side but he has been inconsistent. Hendry consistently dominated for a period which is hard in snooker due to needing the concentration, commitment and motivation to keep winning more etc. It actually makes me sick how people just copy and paste negative stuff about Hendry's career when he had higher peaks then any player. Weak era? He was beating the class of 92 and why didn't they win more in the 1990's if it was weak?.
Seeing Ronnie and Hendry at their best, I would say it would make it for a really amazing duel for sure. Hendry seemed he could simply not miss. Reckless on his positioning sometimes just because he could pot them all....Ronnie at his best looked more methodical. More like he had a plan. But he is worse at defence to Hendry. Man, Hendry was a terminator. No consideration for human life :) I think the match would be down to the very very rare miss....I would root for both of them. If I had to choose the GOAT, I would've given a small edge to Ronnie due to equal enough talent and longevity...But if we talk skills, Hendry's attack AND defence is to this day unmatched....
I wonder who has lost more matches in there career hendry or O'Sullivan?
Nice break but get in jimmy

Very young and very very young 🤔😁 Even then White was already a perfect underdog before Hendry. Amazing.
The wonderbairn
Easy? Easy easy for hendry. Lol 😂. U should hv watch how many long pot hendry took on in a game against Alex higgin.
Not only is the ball potting very good, but his control of the cue ball as well. A skill even harder than actually potting balls. It wouldn’t matter how much time I had, I could never make a century break.
The best ever at long pots by far
In his prime before he got the yipps the greatest player ever. When he retired he was hundreds of centuries ahead in 100 breaks. Ok Ronnie eventually caught up and surpassed him but if his game hadn't of suffered as it did he'd be out of sight in terms of centuries and it would be more than 7 world titled. Simply the best ever
Hendry was a rock when producing the goods under pressure. Mental strength and bottle was his forte, in those two areas he was in a league of one
"if his game hadn't of suffered as it did he'd be out of sight in terms of centuries and it would be more than 7 world titled" If he'd been a better player he'd have been a better player, in other words.
Black to yellow
Incredible.
that magic cue
The Greatest
This speed is what Hendry failed to keep up where O’Sullivan hadn’t, which I think is why The Rocket always maintained his fanbase
Good point
What a player, one of the best of all time without doubt.
Watching this compared to his 2021 comeback century is like night and day, this was so effortless and natural, the 2021 century was laboured, stiff, hard work, just basically a struggle, maybe Hendry shouldn't have made this comeback, I feel the qualifiers for the world championship will be a step too far, the quality is too high, no doubt this young version of Hendry would easily qualify, just physically and mentally much better in his younger days. If he wanted to make comeback he should have done it 5-6 years ago in his 40s.
This young version wouldnt just qualify he would win!
@@scotpak100 Yes he would.
Little did they knew this kid was gonna beat jimmy 6 times in the world final
Jimmy lost 6 world finals . 4 losses against Hendry .one against Steve Davis and one against John Parrott . Would have loved to see Jimmy win one ..but unfortunately wasn't to be .
Hendry is still the greatest long potter under pressure I've ever seen and I know we had some fantastic long potters in history such as Williams Trump Robertson who are all brilliant long potters but when the pressure was at it highest Hendry just never seemed to miss.
This Stephen kid could do well if he applies himself....
Aye, all he needs to do is turn off the computer and get outside.🤣
@@_6079SMITH Jist needs a few tweeks!.....
Tim Heiner: I'm impressed with your video's quality. I've seen many much newer videos in which, from a view of the entire table, I could not reliably distinguish some of the colours from the reds. Great job!
The ball was on a string during that break. I only seen one ball just slide off the jaw and even then it looks like he was pinching a little to pocket that red. Total class act. I will state this - as a match-player; over a long distance, against any great player past or present at their peak age; I personally think that Stephen Hendry would beat them all. Some might be just a shade more naturally talented, but Hendry's persona in the match itself was peerless. They would all know that and he would have them beaten before the start. A totally dominant force.
Well said.
This match was terrific Jimmy won 13-12
Doesn’t get any better than that
If only Jimmy knew back then.
