Are you sure those are 4x4s? They look much girthier than that. They look like 6x6s.

You definitely need a brace for the middle, I built this yesterday and it bowed in on itself right when we stood it up lol

I wonder if it would compromise the strength too much if you took a 1-1/2” spade bit and drilled holes every 3 inches or so on the 2x4 frame to save weight.

The forces in the hanging chairs are tending to tip the supports structure in a direction they aren't braced for... they look like 6" posts and if they're down far enough, shouldn't be a problem.
