03: What we see on a seismic record
Просмотров 1149 месяцев назад
When looking at a seismic shot record, we see different seismic trends, including direct and refracted waves, reflections, multiples, ghosts, and ground rolls. To process seismic data, the first step is to identify these events. In this video, you will learn how to discern different seismic events on a shot record.

In this video I will talk about different seismic sources and receivers that are used seismic exploration, including dynamite, vibroseis, weight drop, sledgehammer, and air gun. In addition, I will talk about seismic receivers and give you some insights about seismic data acquisition.
01-Why is Reflection Seismology critical for oil and gas exploration?
Просмотров 1959 месяцев назад
In this lecture series (Reflection Seismology), you will learn about seismic data acquisition, processing, and interpretation. While this course is oriented toward oil and gas exploration, the methodologies can be applicable to various fields, including seismology and glaciology.

What are the driving mechanisms for oil production? What parameters affect the recovery factors? In this video, the basics of oil production are discussed.
Natural Gas Production and Marketing-Formation Evaluation
Просмотров 15410 месяцев назад
How does gas production differ from oil, and why? Why aren't there any organizations, such as OPEC for the global gas market? What challenges are associated with gas marketing? In this video, you will discover some interesting information about natural gas production and marketing.
Hydrocarbon Behavior in the Reservoir (T-P diagrams)
Просмотров 32910 месяцев назад
To achieve the best possible production from a hydrocarbon reservoir, understanding the behavior of hydrocarbons during production is essential. This understanding can be attained through the analysis of a temperature-pressure diagram. In this video, I discuss temperature-pressure diagrams and how they can be utilized to formulate the best strategies for optimized production.
NMR Log-Formation Evaluation
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a versatile logging tool that offers various pieces of critical information, including porosity, pore size distribution, effective porosity, permeability, oil viscosity, gas density, hydrocarbon type, etc. Therefore, compared to conventional logging tools, NMR is robust in terms of the variety of data it provides. In this video, I delve into NMR.
Sonic Logs-Formation Evaluation
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Sonic logging tools measure the travel time of seismic waves in the formation, from which we can estimate the primary porosity. By using the sonic porosity, we can further estimate the secondary porosity index, which serves as a measure of the fracturing level in the formation.
Neutron Porosity Log-Formation Evaluation
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.11 месяцев назад
In this video, I elaborate on neutron porosity logs. Additionally, I explain how the integration of neutron porosity with density data helps us 1) estimate the actual porosity, 2) characterize the lithology, and 3) identify gas-saturated zones.

Thank you, this was really helpful! I was having a hard time grasping how and why waves were affected by rocks and fluids, now I get it. Edit: this comment was meant for the Sonic logs video.
So you mentioned primary wave and secondary wave, but which one is used or produced in oil and gas exploration? by the truck and the boat for on-shore and offshore process 24:00
P-wave imaging is more popular. But, sometimes, S-wave is also used.
@@dr.askari Dear Prof. Askari Hi. I just wanted to send a friendly reminder that I am waiting for your response regarding my previous email I have found out about your awesome RUclips channel so I was just wondering if there is anything wrong with my email that you didn't receive or is there another issue I didn't saw. Sincerely, Marziyeh
Very good job brother. Abdul majeed Geologist from Pakistan
thank you for sharing
Thank you, Doctor. Your lecture was highly informative and excellently delivered. Are there any plans to cover advanced topics such as dielectrical scanners and FMI in future lectures?
For now, I don't have any plans.
Thank you, Doctor. Your explanation was excellent and extremely helpful. I have one question: Could you please clarify why sonic logs are generally not effective at detecting secondary porosity? Is the issue related to the complexity of porous media in secondary porosity? Despite the presence of fluid in secondary porosity, which should affect the sonic waves, why is this type of porosity not typically captured by sonic logging?
You are right. First, estimating porosity from sonic log is not straightforward. The equations such as Wylie's time average equations, are empirical and don't work for all rocks. Second, factors such as fluid type (e.g., oil and gas saturation) and presence of clay will affect sonic velocity and if they are not taken into account, we will end up wrong estimate of the porosity. Dipole logs are better for fracture characterization.

Unfortunately, I don't speak Arabic.
Can't believe that this is on internet...thank you very much!
thanks, very usefull, saludos desde Bogotá
These videos are so good man thank you.
Thank you. You made my day and gave me more motivation to continue making educational videos.
Really informative and well-explained. Thank you
Thank you for the thorough explanation of the petrophysical terminologies, it was great.
Amazing imaging: I think adding BG music will make it exciting :)
Very good pedagogie - all logical and build a solid understanding. thanks so much for sharing
Useful information.thank you
i was really struggling with well logging thanks for your awesome videos
Your efforts are really appreciated Dr.Radwin. It is very useful lecture and I noted every single words you said.🌹
very good
Informative and educative,I have learned a lot . Thanks.
thank you 🥰
Also is the DST the one étape for evaluation drilling
Dr i want to know if gamma rail ,carottage and diagraphie they all are in the étapes of drilling exploration and what is the last étape of this drilling
Thank you so much! this is very helpful. Very clear explanation of NMR logging.
This is a very helpful video Sir. Request you to kindly attach the presentation also.

Excuse me sir one thing that I am still wondering about x that sonic log uses what is it exactly is it between receiver or between receivers and formation and if it is between the receivers what if the sound by formation does not come exactly between the receivers
Design of each sonic log is different. Modern sonic logs may use more receivers. The one that I explained is a simple one where the configuration of sources and receivers is symmetrical. So, it is exactly between them.
I am currently doing my training phase and preparing for wireline field engineer academy at baker hughes and your lectures arr helping me understand what our tools do and how to interpret the logs. Thank you ao much. I hope you continue posting. I am sharing your lectures with my colleagues.
You are welcome!

Sir I am form india..... sir please make a lecture on cros plotting method and shaly sand interpretation
My research direction has changed. But maybe in the future.
Thank you Sir for uploading such amazing course
'Promo sm' 💪

Very insightful, Thanks professor❤
Why did the MSFL reading (which is supposedly for the second package of tools that are used in the NON-conductive mud | minute 42:11) come with the ILM and ILD readings (which are used in the case of the conductive mud as they are induction readings)?
SFL is for non-conductive muds. This part of the lecture focuses on estimating Rw and Rmf. This slide was an example of estimating Rw and Rmf for non-conductive mud.
Best explaination of Sonic log ❤️ I have ever heard and understand completely in a single go.....
I think the NaCl is Sodium Chloride (not S. Chlorite). Thanks for the very helpful videos on the FE.
Maybe I made a mistake. That happens during recording.
Can you share with us the pdf's you working on , please?!
