    How did we obtain the stifness matrix shown in 18:14. Normally in finite element method, it shoud be a 6*6 matrix for a beam element I think.

    Excuse me professor, which book should i check in order to understand and look more examples of the inclusion of shear deformations in stiffness method. Also I want to know if there is a book including a rigid arm (Elemento with EA=EI=Infinite), as effect of a shear wall analysis with beams, or the procedure to determinate the stiffness matrix of nonprismatic elements. I want to thank you for the videos, I'm fromm Perú and found the information very valuable for structural knowled, you have a great method to explain.

      You can check "Kassimali, A., Matrix Analysis of Structures, 2nd Ed." but most of the things that you watch are my way of formulation. There is another class video which is related to rigid end offset and I think, it will help you to understand what you are asking.

    Thank you for your videos. I'm in my fourth year of college and when I studied structural analysis my teachers did not teach the derivation of SD, Cross and stiffness methods. I understood all the methods but I always want to know where the things come from and your videos taught me all I wanted to know.     Hocam at point D, why don't we have a rotational degree of freedom? Is it not an internal hinge with the combination of a fixed support? 2) Why don't we have two rotational degree of freedoms at the intersection B? 1 for the beam and 1 for the truss member?

      I have come to the conclusion that for both cases mentioned above, the rotation becomes zero and thus you omitted them from the beginning. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

      BD is a truss member, thus undergoes only axial deformation. Because of this reason, we are only interested in the axial deformation. That's why I didn't define any rotational degrees of freedom.
