Very informative for risha interests. Really enjoyed hearing the differences in picking instruments. Thanks for sharing this knowledge!
C'est exactement ce que j'avais fait , avant de voir votre vidéo ; j'utilise un " risha " découpé dans une bouteille en plastique , et c'est celui qui me convient le mieux !
Class
I just stumbled on your page wishing you a long life you should look up Yemeni artists if it’s your taste and just watch them play the oud it’s beautiful I think
🎉🎉
I play guembri wanna do something
this sounds AMAZING!!! 👏🔥💯❤️🙏 Can't believe you've never played it before. 😂 What is harder to play the guitar or setar ? 😉
The setar is natural an organic, much more than guitar.
@@americanoudwiththelostladi5548I barely play the guitar and I'm thinking of learning to play a setar first would be easier than to play the guitar? What would you say?
Risha means A feather in Arabic..... u can use a real feather instead of plastic and it will sound clean and effortless
Awesome.
Thank you, my friend.
Wow. Very powerful. Beautiful and sad....
sweet job
is the body a solid piece of wood or is it strips?
Beautiful!!!!
dude, cmon that’s too cool
Pick
Zip tie
This is not a Risha. Risha is an eagle's feather 🪶
I Could imagine such music being played in the Riads of Andalusia with the background sound of Water Fountains, amazing Playing
Thank you.
Barbat Is From Central Asia
Sir, I found today your channel. Wow. I will one of your students from now. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!
Thank you.
Wow The sound of the oud has become like the GMC 454 engine
Wow, you're right!
This oud is made by Leon Istanbuli, who lives in Lebanon
It is fake, not original
😁I'm sure you'll take it off my hands for $100, however, haha. No thanks, it's not for sale.
@@billromansky9716 I do not want to buy oud, but I just want to inform you that it is fake and not original, and you can show it to the specialists

@@Music-io5lx, I did, they are fascinated by it.
للأسف العود ليس نحات
I use the back corner of a medium pick. Gives me a sound like a rest stroke in classical.
Im just thankfull that i part of our culture is having so much respect and kind words from people around the world. One day i will buy one hopefully😍😍
Thank you for your kind words.
I can tell from your accent that you must be somewhere near Philly! I was pretty sure I was the only person within about 100 miles talking about Arabic music with this Philly accent 🤣 Where do you get these interesting ouds from? I'm looking for some kind of slightly shorter scale guitar-oud hybrid; is there any store w/ this kind of stuff nearby?
South Jersey, and my wife is from Philly. Most instruments have come from online auctions. The mini-oud I tied nylon line to make frets on the neck and have used it as a medieval lute called a citole. I know of no store that sells these instruments, but Sala Muzik in Turkey sells new and is very reasonably priced with low shipping.
I am a Nahhat oud enthusiast myself. Any chance you can share a photo of the label inside the oud? I would be happy to translate it what it says for you and give you additional info about the oud.
ايمت برأيك هي سنة الصنع ؟؟
If Risha means feather, that may have been the original. Maybe try some turkey feathers.
Beautiful song ! Where did you buy this Barbat ?
Jo Dusepo in England, shipped here to the US.
You are awesome. "Risha" is Arabic for "pick" tho xD
It means feather
@@depressedcat2561 3arfeen wallahi. Yes that's the literal meaning. But all Arab guitarists refer to their picks as a risha.
That was fun to watch! To be honest, I didn't make much of a difference between the picks or the Rishas with the exception of the last transparent one.
That's a pretty amazing and absolutely free risha.
Hey there, I've been watching through your videos today and first I was very excited by how many Middle Eastern instruments you have on here and your playing is really nice. However I have to admit I was deeply confused by your name until this video. I'm Sephardic Jew, I was a bit confused because of your being Christian (I assume based on your Necklace, tattoo, and some videos I saw of you with crosses) but also seem to continue to participate in some Jewish cultural customs. However reading your reply to Marcelo clarified that some. It's always good to see someone embrace their heritage in our community and I hope you dig deep into that. Some of the first Jews to settle in the US were Sephardim, I lived in Charleston SC for a bit and there's still a vibrant community there. I'm not sure what all waits for you in all this but I'm happy that you have embraced this and should this reach you tomorrow שבת שלום my friend.
Thank you. Mom's side are Conversos, Catholic Sephardim from Spain. So that's why "Ladino". Our Converso history is being erased and rewritten, so there is not a lot of reference material regarding what used to be.
🎶✨🧸✨🎶 👶👏
Great work I love your video
I'm Arab and so happy seeing and American interests and leanrs about oud
Thank you.
Risha also means feather in arabic ✌🏻, hope u do a video on how to play guitar like a oud or point me to a place, u know there are kind of players like enrico macias who play guitar but their picking is oud picking. anyway thats how i got here. nice video
G day bro
Good tune.
Sick video! I've been meaning to pick up the oud to tap into my Palestinian culture a bit more and this video is really helpful, will definitely stick to a risha, haha!

This is killer!
Thank you, Jordan.
I want to study how can you help me
I recommend my friend Navid. ruclips.net/video/4OO0QIqpCvk/видео.html
What the hell is this.....??? It's a 5000 years old instrument that you are handling sir...
I didn't do it, the instrument did it when I set it down. I just it caught in the video. Sorry for your being upset.
The flavor is appropriate
Forty days fighting the demons in this desert. Thank you so much, my friend.
nice build! sounds pretty rad
Thank you, Christoffer.
Beautiful, thank's!
Love your Videos, you have that feeling inside you that is a Gift, My Father is an Oud teacher and I would to show you some of his playing someday.
Thank you, Nedal. Yes, a gift from God, for which I take no personal credit. Please post some of your Dad's videos, perhaps to Facebook's "Oud For Guitarists". God bless you, my friend.
Beautiful. Those western notes get in the way. The song is evocative of one more cup of coffee by Bob Dylan with Emmylou Harris
Thank you, Kevin. This song has gone throughout the whole Middle East.
Looks awesome, I have heard name Nahat Oud so many times.
Thank you so much. Nahats will never be made again, I am blessed that God brought this my way.
