Woodward PC Hot Laps Lift (Summer)
Woodward, which has obviously been known for world-class, progression-oriented terrain parks has been growing since around 2017 (from my understanding) partnering with major ski resorts like Copper, Eldora, Boreal, Killington, etc. Meanwhile, Powdr, which had owned PC and Canyons but sold them to Vail in 2013 and 2014 respectively due to financial issues; still had a foothold at the formerly named Gorgoza Park at nearby Jeremy Ranch, having been long since the defunct Parley’s Summit Ski Area. In 2018, the park announced the area was partnering with Woodward and the year afterward in December 2019, they opened this lift, Hot Laps. It serves various types of small-to-X large parks/halfpipe...

Snowbird Peruvian X (Backriding POV)
Просмотров 1645 месяцев назад
Peruvian was originally installed by Doppelmayr in 1976, but ended to the left about a quarter of the way up where the Rothman Way, Blackjack, Lower Chips and Who Dunnit trails split so it didn’t serve much terrain as the Tram did. In 2006, the old lift was removed and relocated with new parts to Bridger Bowl, MT where it got installed as the expert-only Schlasman’s. The new lift, initially con...

The old lift was so prone to wind holds since the top return was exposed to a windy ridge and the ran w...
Snowbird Aerial Tram

Here we are, Snowbird’s Legendary Aerial Tram. This beast was first installed by Garaventa of Switzerland in 1971, having started a couple years before, to launch Snowbird into the real skiing world where Little Cottonwood Canyon and other neighbors have a high share of top-tier snowfall and quality snow. The Tram starts at the Snowbird Center a few hundred feet up from the lower elevation area...

Solitude Link Lift

Link is the true bunny hill at Solitude located at Moonbeam Lodge that also functions as a transfer lift to Solitude’s main village, Apex & Sunrise lifts. It was built by CTEC in 1988 with the bail-style CTEC chairs. However, what was scary was Link had no safety bars until 2022 when Solitude added them in with Sunrise. Link also recently is operating in the summer for Mountain Biking. Solitude...
Solitude Sunrise Lift

Sunrise was installed in 1980 by CTEC with some Thiokol equipment. It serves mostly its own area but prior to 2015, was the only way to get to Summit which you’d take to get to Honeycomb Canyon. In 2015, when the old Summit Double was removed, the new lift started in a new alignment that made way for a new trail from the top of Apex Express, Summit Access West, for faster access respectively. Park City Tombstone Express (April Version)

So I decided I’d take a sunnier version of this recording since this lift is a bit long and has a high vertical rise, plus, better for my Park City playlist. Tombstone Express was built in 2006 by Doppelmayr CTEC to replace a Poma Detachable Quad built in 1997 (relocated to Steamboat as Sunshine Express) It is a rare find for a Doppelmayr CTEC 6-pack that features the UNI-GS terminals (others a...

Alta Wildcat Lift
Просмотров 7417 месяцев назад
Wildcat was installed in 1980 by Lift Engineering Yan replacing another double chair built in 1950. It serves mostly its own pod though the lower terrain can be accessible from Collins/Sugarloaf. Wildcat also like Collins also provides more advanced-skier access to Snowbird via the Blackjack Return or Westward Ho trails. The lift itself is a bit rare Yan, center-pole double, but unlike other ce...

Not a whole lot of Doppelmayr on this lift.
Expanded Excellence is really coming along.
Looking good out there, hopefully you get a chance to film the new Expanded Excellence lifts at DV this season!
@@idahoskilifts4242 you said that perfect timing! I just got my 24-25 Ikon Pass so it is a definite guarantee you’ll see the new Keetley, Hoodoo and Aurora lifts!
RIP to the unique VonRoll-CTEC :(
Your videos bring back happy memories! Hope you can post more over the coming season.
What’s the easiest route off this lift? I know they’re all double-blacks, but I’m not very good with moguls. I tried this area out in March 2020, and I was mostly side-shuffling my way down.
@@TwinSkiingLiftsRides sorry it’s late, but the easiest way are the runs 94 Turns to Moraine. You either go to the left after unloading 9990 (a little uphill initially) or ski down the lift line for a bit then cutting to the right via a traverse that leads to the 94 Turns trail. Moraine is uncommonly groomed, but another option that’s not that steep is Talus Garden.
this lift reminds me of quicksilver lift at crystal mountain Washington state.
@@DeltaChairlifts5 I know what you’re talking about! It used to be Deer Crest at Deer Valley and I was fortunate to ride it a few times before it got replaced by the current Mountaineer Express
@@skiliftguy4181 that's really cool!
Moose live under this chair. There is a year round food & water source.
Top station, Over 'n Out. The Canyons. Moose live under this chair. Keep your eyes peeled.
@@jackfenton2271 it is always a common occurrence to see moose or other wildlife while riding Over & Out or even the Sunrise lifts. Sometimes both of those lifts go on hold if there’s wildlife close or on to the resort property.
The bike setup on this lift looks exactly like Bryce Resort's bike setup on their chairlift.
What do you use to record? The quality looks great!
Hey so I have an IPhone 14 and I film horizontally with 4K and 60 fps.
@@skiliftguy4181 Nice! I use a GoPro Hero 8 Black for recording chairlifts, and when I record gondolas, I use my iPhone 11.
Oh so have the AUDACITY to not call this Peruvian Express 😡😡😡😡😡 This is just a joke but I am kinda mad.
For some reason many of snowbirds detachables don’t have the ‘express’ word after the name like, Little Cloud, Gadzoom, Gad 2, etc. But the Snowbird trail map just labels it as Peruvian so I decided to keep at that.
@@skiliftguy4181yeah it just a joke but it sounds better as Peruvian express than just Peruvian
that lift is so quiet! <3
You mispelled tombstone in the title of this video.
Fixed!
My season isn't over with either, I'm visiting Timberline Lodge in June.
Ok this one I’m not mad at for adding safety bars since it’s a beginner lift
Are there chair lifts without safety bars? Never seen one
@@TheBorreyes such as challenger at winter park
WHY DOES EVERY LIFT NOW GET UPGRADED WITH SAFETY BARS JUST LET THEM BE RAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
Wdym? In the east coast & Europe, it’s required by law to have safety bars
@@skiliftguy4181I skied in France last spring, and literally EVERYBODY uses the safety bar.
@@skiliftguy4181oh well it’s just this lift used to not have em
The reason for the line speed in this video was because Solitude was trying to get the "new lift kinks" sorted out for this high speed six pack. Additionally, the new lift is more reliable because there are HUNDREDS (if not THOUSANDS) of Doppelmayr UNI-G detachables!
Why “Banana?” 🍌 🍌 😂
I don’t know!🤷♂️. It felt like a happy accident when Park City attempted to repaint the name, only for it to be a mistake!😂 I call it Bananas Express for that reason alone!😂😂
That looks better than the slow cloudy ride
how was the snow?
It was a bit warm like into the low 50s and the snow was a bit sticky, but since Alta is in the Cottonwoods and at a higher elevation, wasn't too bad.
Beautiful old Yan lift, back from an era where Yan built solid lifts. Still a bit terrified by the lack of safety bars/ski rests, but overall, this one looks in mint condition !
I kinda hope they keep the current chairs because as of now, none of Alta’s lifts have footrests.
That's a quiet one. Usually, Doppelmayr drives made quite a racket back then. Must be a VFD driven motor. The direct drives are even quieter, but sometimes with the distinct "VFD noise".
I remember visiting Deer Valley last October. The views of this lift you get from the St. Regis hotel deck is amazing. The St. Regis Funicular was also cool.
How would you rate this lift on a scale from 1 to 5?
Burns itself is a bit cool, but still a 1 of 5, because of the perplexing location and purpose of that lift period! It only serves a cat track for ski school and another way to get to Mountaineer but that’s it!
@@skiliftguy4181 Worst new lift at DV lol
The lift may not be running full speed, but it's definitely running around 900 fpm while the gondola isn't running at all. 🎉 (This time last year, you likely wouldn't even be here since before DeMoisy, Snowbasin would often proactively close this area if it looked like the gondola might go on wind hold, given the hassle that evacuating the area by snowmobile entailed.)
The gondola unfortunately was on wind hold and it only got worse since it was taken in the afternoon which shut Strawberry down for the remainder of the day while DeMoisy just kept going. I did ride Snowbasin once last year when Strawberry was the sole lift operating in the Strawberry zone
Gusty Gales on Strawberry Peak (not sure if the wind level is gale level tho)
I wouldn't call these gale-level winds if the lift is only running at slightly less than its normal operating speed (normal operating speed of the lift: ruclips.net/video/iLs976MkDxg/видео.html&pp=ygUPZGVtb2lzeSBleHByZXNz). Certainly it was gusty enough to close the gondola.
Well I just updated the description for the wind speeds that day and it was so bad it shut down the gondola
Yeah, it's looking back down the lift line that you really get an idea of how much vertical you're getting. For perspective, this lift has roughly the same amount of vertical as the Needles Gondola, yet is 2,350 feet shorter in distance covered than it. Likewise, John Paul is also about 130 feet longer than DeMoisy, yet has 700 more vertical feet (and DeMoisy is a lift that looks relatively mellower yet rolling profile).
I've tried filming a few of these, but can never find a comfortable hand position, got any tips?
Well depending on the lift, you’ll likely never gonna find a good comfort position for your hand anyway, but try on finding a good position without anything, like the metal frame for the safety bar in the way. I basically had to adjust twice during this ride up since it was longer than Crest 6, my other video I did a backride on and did so gradually and smoothly without any abruptions or shaky videography. If you need to change positions, do so slowly without shaking your camera. Also because I always ride with the bar down it makes everything a tad more challenging, but don’t let the bar opinion change you.
😂🥰🥰🥰
I love bubble chairlifts.
Holy smokes, this might be one of the longest chairlifts I've ever seen.
This one ticks all the boxes. Long distance, a curve, high distance to the ground, awesome terrain, and the distinct Doppelmayr sound. Also, interesting engineering in the intermediate station. Most of the gondolas with intermediate stations that I know (in Austria) have a second independent loop of rope, with a second drive unit. Except for one, where the rope is being deviated by a large amount of sheaves. Doppelmayr are proper madlads, if you'd tell them to make a disco gondola, they'll probably make it work. I'd like to ride a Riblet one day, though.
No “front row” POV? EDIT: Forgot to read the description lol
It’s all good!😂 The front cabin was labeled as ‘Out Of Service’ so I tried so hard to provide a good view recording
i love these small skiing channels
hi
OMG OMG OMGGGGGG THATS MY NAME
It’s like a smaller faster version of greenhorn ranch at steamboat
When you need a reminder that skiing at DV is as scenic as skiing through a subdivision.
Those NIMBYs really suck, 'cause improving capacity out of Miners Camp and making it possible to reach Miners Camp from the lower lots with one lift (as opposed to have to ride First Time to Crescent) would improve the mountain greatly.
This was supposed to be upgraded to a six-pack two years ago, but that got shut down by the local residents and the Planning Commission. Now the high-speed six will be going to Whistler Blackcomb to replace the Jersey Cream Express.
Wonder why Brighton did not replace this yet. This seems as nobody wants to ride it over its sister lift.
It’s extremely heckled and overshadowed compared to Crest 6, which runs 4 times faster.
@@skiliftguy4181When I visited Brighton two seasons ago, I liked this lift better than the old Crest quad. At this point in time it’s one of the worst lifts at Brighton now, now that the Crest 6 is in operation.
Too slow.
Maybe even slower than your recording of Majestic. At least it didn’t slow down or stop until after I stopped recording!😂
@@skiliftguy4181 Haha, now that Crest 6 is in, Majestic will drop a few spots on my ranking from a while ago!
I'd be for a backride on: * Snowbasin: John Paul Express or Middle Bowl. * Alta: Supreme
I think the change to in-line loading was to reduce misloads.
I'm guessing that chair parked on the railing at the bottom is something they're using to try to make the turn less rattling.
Maybe who knows maybe for next winter
@@skiliftguy4181 It looks like a bubble chair without the bubble if you ask me.
I counted 102 chairs on this lift when I visited Alta two years ago. Was another one added?
Oh thanks for the callout I also counted 102 chairs I must’ve mistyped
I miss the old triple, but I'm glad it still lives on in Montana!
I do too actually I rode it a lot during my recent times at Alta.
