NICE video for the FM stereo receiver. Simple antenna to make too. Peace MHTI. vf
Thanks, VF.
This is a great idea that show how perseverance makes innovation happen.
Thanks, VF.
Would stacking this design say 4 deep really increase the range and gain MHTI ?? Thanks
VF, you always have great thoughts and ideas!
@@mrhoptoit7835 Would you think that this idea would work ??? Any specific way to connect multiple antennas like this Sir ?? Thank you for your time Sir. vf
Good video Sir
Thanks
Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching my channel.
Great idea!
Glad you think so!
Wow that was great idea, and with your expertise you made it look so easy. Now you got a big fridge. Another happy camper! lol
Thanks! The extra refrigerator makes a big difference.
Never took to camping, however we somewhat did on a boat. After 15 years, 5 boats later, than the 55ft that we lived on year round in Ct, for four years, we grew tired of it. Camping and boating are about the same, however the boat loved gas. lol
Towing loves gas, too..lol. I've had boats before, which I loved, but we get more use from our campers. Thanks for watching.
This video is giving me such strong summer in the '90s nostalgia
Thanks
is this legal
Over the air TV signals are for consumer use. It's perfectly legal to receive and watch broadcast television.
@@mrhoptoit7835 awesome thank you bro
Has this been tested for the range and vhf/uhf signal strength? Does it need a preamp for increased signal?
Yes, it's been tested. This antenna is designed primarily for UHF reception, and works well both with and without a pre-amp. It's nominal range is within 40 miles. Link to full build and testing is posted in the comments.
In my experiment on my channel the results were the reverse. The $1.00 Balun performed better according to the signal meter in the converter box. I even went so far as to put the data in a table to show my measurements.
I have already watched and liked your video, Ken. I am puzzled by your results, but it proves again that specific antennas in specific locations may act differently than expected. Good luck on your channel. Yes, I subscribed!
@@mrhoptoit7835 I also was puzzled. I had expected the more expensive one to work better. The purpose of the was going to be to advise people to buy the brand name BALUN.
Thank you very much he made this very easy to understand
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.
What is the receiver rrange for this antenna? Is it helpful to add an amp?
This is a small antenna with limited range - normally within 30 miles of the transmitter. Using amplifiers or pre-amps are totally dependent on your local situation ( signals strength, terrestrial interference, cell signal interference, etc.) so, while they can be useful, its just best to try one and see how it performs. Thanks for watching
Is there a DIY antenna for like 80-100 miles?
Check out the antenna comparison video I have - ruclips.net/video/42ZAEhKsBVs/видео.html It may help you decide which antenna is best for you. Afterwards, links to each antenna's build video are all listed in the description. Have fun.
Thanks Sir. And thanks for being there. @@mrhoptoit7835
Do you happen to have the invoice or part number or anything that can help Forest River find this part. 17 texts later and they still can find it. I need the left rear please.
I do not know the part number, as I ordered through a dealership. I've responded to your email.
Thanks for sharing 👍💯
Thanks for watching!
Nice video
Thanks
Looks like a good place to camp out, it seems that they do have to improve on the lighting a bit, but hey they had garbage pickup! lol
It's a relaxing place to camp. Thanks for watching
Great job! thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching my channel.
Yes and: Don't get put off if the menus don't look like that. You may have to google to find the method for your TV if it isn't obvious but this is not rocket science. Also: Buy a "BALUN" or "Matching transformer". They only cost about a dollar.
Thank, Ken.
This one looks like a great spot when traveling through the area. I'll add this one to the list. Nice job.
Thanks. Yes, we enjoyed it there.
The Carolinas are really nice area to enjoy camping. The smell of the pines when the due comes in the early evening. Takes me back a few years when we were playing poker and I won 500 smakers. The people are really nice too. Nice video MHTI. Peace....... v
Thanks VF!
Works even better without a painted coat hanger
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the lessons shared. Till I get the experimental constitution. I will get back to you.
Thanks for watching . I have another antenna design in the works.
Is the antenna working with a customized DTH/dtv device? Or is it working with a UHF/VHS TV RECEIVER?
The Ematic receiver is a popular TV receiver I bought two of them at Walmart a couple of years ago. I'm using it in my tests because its signal strength meter is accurate and displays in percentages. My Onn tv only has a four bar signal display. Thanks for the great question.
Again, if the antenna is completed, how many metres high can the pole hold this antenna be raised to make the antenna receive in this region?
I don't know about your region, but in my area about 8 to 9 meters high works well for many antennas. Every location will be different.
I live in valley surrounded by mountains. We are about 300 to 500km from DTV or DTH transmission stations. The only tv channels we can receive is satellite tv transmissions. Can this antenna be used to receive local networks or dtv/DTH channels for local news? Waiting to hear from you soon.
TV antennas need line of sight to the transmitter tower for good reception. I'm most situations, the farthest you could be away would be around 120 to 130 km away. After that, the curvature of the earth will actually block the TV signal. There isn't an antenna made that is capable of getting a signal over the distances you've described.
Can the antenna WORK out for people in AFRICA living in the valley of mountains? How many kilometers can this antenna construction be able to pick signals from the transmission channels?
This antenna is designed to receive strong UHF signals up to around 50-55 km from multiple directions.
I am looking forward to your antenna making things Sir. Hope all is well too. Say hello to the better half........
Hi VF. Im trying to get back on schedule . Thanks for your patience.
I wish i could post pictures of my results here. Very nice design and bravo! I just built this and WOW it is powerful. I used 6 guage wire instead and while more difficult to feed into the pipe, it is highly broadband. I used 6in flashing with 1.5in "wings" bent to much less than 45° as at 4in distance, 45° does not point at the element. I also ran a 14 guage wire from one of the element screws to a rivet in the reflector and grounded/bonded the reflector to the element as most reflectors should also be a ground plane. Even with the antenna in a bad location for testing only 6 ft off the ground and in between houses, i picked up 82 channels crystal clear. Looking at tvfool, this is pretty much every channel within 35 miles of me! Very nice design! Building a few more for some friends but will also next try 1/4 wavelength spacing to the reflector as 4 inches puts it at ~725MHz which is above the UHF OTA tv range (your input on the 4inch spacing is very welcome!). Still, this exact build as you have shown is very VERY good and easy to build for anyone that wants some free tv! Thank you for taking the time to make and share this you Rockstar!
Wow, thanks for the great comment! I don't design antennas around 6 ga wire because its much too difficult for the average person to form, but I'm glad you had such great success with it. The 45 degree bends in the reflector are to add rigidity to it, not more refection. It is a smart idea that you utilized them like that. I came up with 4 inches for spacing because I ran a series of tests with an antenna and movable (tunable) reflector and found that it actually worked the best, so I use 4 inches. I never tried bonding the reflector, but I'm curious to my results when I do. If you mount this antenna outdoors, I also recommend making the reflector out of hardware cloth to eliminate wind resistance, and painting the PVC to prevent weather decay.

Excellent detailed instructional video. I appreciated you taking time to go through matrrials needed. I plan on building the reflector antenna this weekend. Currently I'm using a store bought black bar HD antenna about 2" wide and 24:long.., but only get about 8-10 channels and use it indoors. I will try your reflector antenna indoors first ..then move it outside, problaby mounted on a 10-12' galvanized pole Will let you know how it works . Thanks again for the video
You are welcome. Thanks for watching my channel!
How about trying a director element outside the active one?
That's a thought. Thanks
Imagine you just hook up a sonar/lidar range finder to each deployable element and having a red/green light per thing .
That sounds like it would also work, but this is simpler and cheaper. Thanks for the great idea, maybe someone will market a system like you describe
Simple but a good idea to potentially save you time or from having a accident or needing to move tge camper.
Thanks for the comment!
OK, that was quite a bit different than you other video. I'll have to read about the double sided Eterna bond tape, looks like it is some sticky stuff. while watching the video I was thinking that at the corners were you butted the tape together might be a location for leak but then you busted out the 221 and I thought OK that should work. looks like you posted this video 3 weeks ago so please let us/me know how the installation holds up with keeping the water out. I am expecting my window in about 4 weeks. Until then I'll have to cover my window with some water tight tape of some kind and a tarp or plastic drop cloth cut to size to make my November camping trip. Anyway thanks for taking the time to create and share your video.
I also used the same technique on the other front skylight last year and it's been weathertight.
Just bought a 2008 FourWinds RV and the rain came right after we bought it. Cracked skylight. So the tape hopefully will help. God be with you. Thank you so much!
Good luck!
did you run into any problems running an inner and outer bead when compressing the beads with the window flange? it seems to me that when you compress the beads you create air pressure between the inner and outer beads that would need to escape and the only path to escape would be to push air past one or maybe both the beads? Just wondering if that happened because I need to replace one of my bubble windows.
I did not have any issues like that. I have updated the system I use to install skylights. The new way is easier and I think will provide a better seal overall. Check out the video here. ruclips.net/video/Tonc-YuHVEA/видео.html
We have a Winegard antenna on our camper. It has the same number on the base as the video has - 3100520. The cable broke on it and will need replaced. Any suggestions on how to do this?
I imagine that you will need to remove the antenna and attach the new cable to the old one. You possibly could "splice" the cables together. If not, it will be a big job replacing the entire cable leg.
Have you ever made a DB4, DB8, or DB16 bow tie antenna? I was wondering how they would compare to the quad hoop.
I have not made those so I can't really comment on any similarities or differences.
Both are junk! Get a Channel Master CM94444 & you wont have to worry😉
Thanks
I have copper wire available. You made it seem that I could use it in place of the aluminum. How would the dimensions/construction change if you used copper? Your video is very helpful and clear.
Follow the same dimensions and construction. Thanks for watching.
Awesome build and design. Appears to be UHF optimizsd. New version with Vhf Hi elements added? I assume you could use treated lumber similar to that used for decks, for weather resistance. Stain to match your exterior, neighborhood
Most of my antennas are designed for UHF reception, as that is what a majority of US TV stations are broadcasting on. Here's a link to one of my VHF add on antennas - ruclips.net/video/eqDwqveTOaE/видео.html Sure, you can use treated lumber, but I prefer PVC lumber as it is more stable and will not absorb moisture. Thanks for watching.
Nice video. I honestly know nothing about antennas so disregard if you wish. - Just wondering, since copper proved superior why didn't you try one diameter size down in copper tubing to compare to the 10awg electrical wire? I'm wondering, when looking only at the copper antennas is the diameter sort of fine tuning to the available signals in the area? Thanks for the video.
I had some of this copper tubing lying around so I tested it. I may possibly do another future episode testing other materials, diameters, etc.
Cus we all keep a transformer lying aroundlol
Lol.
LEXAN is the best plastic for long life and durability. Everyone I know who has a newer camper these days is made on the cheaper side. Word of mouth is the best and most honest information MR.Hop To It. Peace vf
Unfortunately you are right again, VF
@@mrhoptoit7835 Thank you SIr for letting me know. Peace vf

Where did you buy the replacement? How much?
