Not a patch on Subaru. I know, ive had two and in the snow on steep roads were excellent.

There are versions with only FWD. This one is AWD version.But you are also right. It has only 7hp on the rear wheels. Still it can help you a little in snow ;)

@@yuridare8670 My worry is that it won’t help me enough because of the electric power to the wheels rather than mechanical. I have an older RX 350 that I love, but the gas mileage is horrible. It’s advantage though is that it has that mechanical connection to all four wheels and it gets stuck in nothing. Ever. This UX, as much as I love the concept, makes me nervous. I’m over a barrel. I live in California and gas is nearly $5/gallon. However, I’m in Tahoe a lot. I also go to places like Aspen and Park City. Mud and snow are deep in these places. Sometimes I travel cross country in winter on icy roads. All that to say I can’t afford gas for my RX 350, and I don’t trust the UX 250 to do what I need as effortlessly as my RX on bad roads. It’s a dilema. I wish Lexus would consider doing better with their AWD system on this one.

@@socalguy97 May be better new RX450h? It has more powerful rear electric motor. Even NX has more HP on rear wheels.

@@yuridare8670 I thought the same, but it’s also not terribly capable. Couldn’t pass a simple roller test so I can’t see it working as well on snow and ice. And the fuel economy on the NXh and RXh doesn’t help much. Not bad, but also not impressive.

@@socalguy97 Roller test dies not represent real road conditions. Note that the Audi Quattro Torsen version will not pass this test but it is super capable AWD system. As long as your vehicle has all wheels on the ground it will do well. I poses NX300h and it is just great in snow (sure not Subaru level but still great).

yes, it has winter tyres. Still without rear wheels help, it would be hard to drive in such conditions.

@@yuridare8670 its not like it can't. Dry snow it would do fine but it's the slush and undercoat ice that fwd could be less than ideal. Needs more ride height though, that would help since it looks like the car is digging into the snow a bit

yeah, but NX also has better AWD system. From all Lexus SUV models UX has the weaker 7 hp motor. But still it is good and better, than fwd or rwd cars.

@@yuridare8670 haaa! I figured. Sometimes we get several ft of snow in one day here! I have an AWD rx400h, and being a hybrid, it's a bit higher ground clearance, which makes it even easier to get through the snow. I was wondering if the newer lexus hybrids are also higher 🤔. I don't even get snow tires for winter(I know many who do). Anyway, it looks like you were having fun! Thanks for the video!

To get the most out of the rear E motor you want to turn run on sport instead of snow, otherwise the computer reduces rear wheel power to prevent wheel spin

I am looking at getting one. A 2020, how does it do up here? I live on a bit of a hill and am wondering how it will fair.

Right ) But remember, that rear wheels have only 7 hp. It gives you very little torque, but still enough in snow.

Better to say: You are faster, than FWD, but much slower than normal 4WD.
