Just booked and can't wait but when apps don't work it can ruin your trip
Hope you have a great time! She really is a great ship!
i took the wilderness express train ride when i was in alaska it was an amzing ride
@markeushorst7437 we absolutely loved it. Glad you did too.
@balconyviewswithbj984 yes we where in the wilderness express dome car
Went July 2024 had grest experience no complaints about food or service. Entertainment was very good we saw several of the shows. We didn't book excursions but enjoyed Coco Cay and the swim up bar as well as a sting ray swimming past us. Negatives would be a handful of low class guests and lines at pickle ball and wave boards overall thumbsup
If you are looking for negative you will find it everywhere. This complaining is sometimes petty and who cares. You sound over privileged and should just enjoy your blessings.
@pamelaloomis6854 thank you for your enlightened analysis. I most go and reevaluate my entire existence.
As Vancouverite... East Hastings, near Main is bad. Wouldn't recommend going east of Gastown
Yep, we found that out the hard way
Absolutely. I visited Vancouver from the UK, and stayed in Burnaby. I used to take the transit R5 to downtown Vancouver, passing through East Hastings. Its like the apocalypse.
Room service for morning pot of coffee is free?
You are absolutely correct, however, this video is regarding the HOT breakfast option.
Our cruise ended last week. It was so fantastic that we booked another one, and this time we’re taking our grown daughters. We stayed in a Grand Suite. No complaints! Of course it was hot but that’s to be expected.
Was that your first cruise with Royal? That was how ours was on Liberty OTS back in 2016. We loved it so much we booked one for the next year with both of our adult children.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 Yes! It was our first cruise. I’m hooked! Having the Grand Suite with concierge service made everything go smoothly, I’m sure. We booked GS for our daughters, too. That way, we all have the same experience. I can’t wait!
@@stillfran yes Ma'am, Suite is the way to go if you can afford it or luck into it with a good Royal up bid. We got lucky and were upgraded with Royalup on Explorer OTS right after the covid restart. We got an Owners Suite and that is the LIFE! Hope you all enjoy your next cruise! Is that on Symphony also or another wonderful RCCL ship?
@@balconyviewswithbj984 We booked with Symphony again. We wanted our daughters to share in our experience. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. Our daughters officiated! Now, it’s their turn to have fun.
I'm sorry youu had such a hard time on this cruise. Hopefully next time it will be better. We leave on May 31st on the Symphony of the Seas out of New Jersey.
It was just not what we have come to expect from RCCL. We have been on a few cruises since that was much better. We're actually sailing out of Jersey in December on Odyssey. Very excited!
That’s the date when we disembarked! We hated to leave. I can’t stop thinking about it. Someone told me that ppl who complain probably need to adjust their attitude. You make the experience positive or negative. Not sure how true that is but it’s worth noting.
@@stillfran I don't completely disagree with the person that told you that, however, My videos are less about complaining and more about alerting others of some of the things they could experience. And to be completely transparent, negative "Headlines" tend to get more views than positive ones. but if you check out most of my content you should notice that I try to point out both positive and negative aspects in all my videos.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 aw, I completely understand. It could be beneficial to know some of the bumps in the road, especially for first timers. A crew member said it to me after I replied “wonderful” to her question about are trip. She said it after I asked, ”Who couldn’t have a wonderful time!”
They have the one person wheelchair rule because people have been scamming the system to jump the line. Same thing happens in airports. The person in the wheelchair magically doesn’t need it anymore after using the privilege to board a group.
And I can appreciate that, But I would rather see 50 people get through scamming the system rather than to break up 1 legitimate family.
Someone could take you to the best steak house in town and buy you a 75.00 steak and you would bitch cuz you didn't get dessert. It seems like you looked for problems, short of the ship sinking I bet there was thing to be happy about
Still better than being at work.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
I sail on Holland America and thank goodness they cater to a different clientele. It’s a cut above the rest and they don’t have crazy things like zip lines and excessive partying. Wouldn’t sail with any other line. Remember you get what you pay for. If you want to party sail on Carnival.
Looks like you enjoyed the buffet.
Actually, I don't care for the buffet. I prefer the MDR, Thanks.
I was a Royal C fan ears ago until they started to copy Carnival and building family theme mega ships. My favorite now is Princess and Celebrity. They offered much better service and less Grey Hound ghetto crowd with fk screaming kids. I always booked my shore excursions ahead of time.
I’ve been on Symphony of the seas three times I am now looking forward to my fourth time on Symphony of the seas this month, but it will be my first time doing this southern Caribbean itinerary. I have experienced so many different cruise lines, and ships Royal Caribbean. Does it the best in my opinion and symphony of the seas is truly an incredible spectacular ship.
Worst tour in Ketchikan by far---well maybe tied with the "duck boat"
You sound so fun lol

@@Scotte5000 Well, contradicting yourself seems to me like maybe you don't sound very fun either. ROFL
It's an old ship that hasn't been redone yet. I believe it's supposed to go into dry dock in 2024.
I think that will help, but i was happy with the ship overall, it was the management that I found lacking (or over baring)
Great video…. We are Diamond with C&A and have two of five sailings in 2024 coming up on Explorer (including the west bound transatlantic next November). We really appreciated your frank overview of the good and the not so good attributes on Explorer. Thank you! Cheers, James
You are very welcome and I hope you have a spectacular trip. We haven't done a TA yet, but we absolutely LOVED our TP we did last year.
Thanks for the view and comment. Hope y'all have a great time.
I think your video says more about you than the ship, you must be fun at party's .. not
Um....O...K. Thanks for watching?
Cmon Karen you ruined your trip not them
Really? I'm curious how I'm responsible for the issues that occurred.
We are doing the big nugget tour next September with Royal. Did you get the tour of the gold dredge too, it shows it in the excursion, description I see. We got it at 30% off for about $96 each adult.
Yes
I've heard from multiple sources that Canada Place is chaotic
That is an accurate assessment
Thank you SO much for this review, I'm sharing it with my group for Sept!! End-of-season trip in 3 weeks!
So glad you enjoyed the video! I hope you and your entire group have a spectacular time.
I wonder if you cruised from a different port. First of all, Vancouver is a fairly safe place to be. Gastown is esPECIALLY SAFE, China Town area can be a bit sketchy. The cruise dock here is the most easy one we have ever used. It was very organized and quick. If you need a mobility device you should pre arrange boarding. My last cruise I used a scooter. No problems. Sorry you had a bad time but it may not have been Canada Place problem.
I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.
Sounds Like Canada Place needs to send upper management to Port Canaveral to learn how to operate a port. Sounds like a ship show I have heard this on several videos about this port being so awful and disorganized and not caring pretty much.
Yes, and it's a shame as the port is really a beautiful building in a gorgeous area. If they would just get better organized, then it could be an amazing experience.
Appreciate the tips. Going September of 2024
No problem! Hope you enjoy your trip. Thank you for the comment.
My girlfriend and I were on this sailing with you. We had a 12pm check in time and arrived by 11:30am. We didn't get on until about 1:30. We had a fantastic cruise, and the weather was amazing, with the exception of a little rain in Sitka. The reason we got on so late, YESSSS...the boarding process at Canada place was AWFUL!!! This was my 9th cruise and by far the worst port we dealt with ever! Royal's Radiance of the Seas was also boarding that day, as well as a Sebourne ship. Canada Place just could not handle it. If I ever sail out of Vancouver again, I will make sure there are no other ships boarding. I let Royal Caribbean know about it in my post-survey. I did note that it was not Royal's fault. We spent two days prior in Vancouver and loved it, with the exception of that boarding chaos. We felt so bad for the elderly who had to wait on that terrible long slow line! Shame on them for such an unorganized lousy experience!
We did have to absolute BEST weather for that Cruise, didn't we? Sounds like you had as great a time as we did!!! Glad you enjoyed everything....except that crazy check in.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 It was our first time in Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle. We loved ALL OF IT!! Two weeks after this cruise I was at work still day dreaming about the entire trip. Next to our first time sailing to the Caribbean in 2017, the Alaska cruise was one of our best vacations! We will be back, especially since we live in Los Angeles. Flights are not too costly, only 3 hours and there is no jet lag.
Great Info! I live in Vancouver and I agree about the "other area's" of the city. Hit me up for recommendations if you'd like, but where you stayed is the best choice. I'll be taking my first cruise out of Vancouver this October and I have always wondered about this. I'm also Subscribing today!
We absolutely LOVED the Pan Pacific! You can NOT go wrong staying there! Thank you VERY much for subscribing and I hope you have a wonderful trip!
We cruise from Vancouver often, never having problem. You started off with...leaving for checkin too early. Checkin is on main promenade, you go down elevator or escelator, thru customs, then onto ship. If you drop off luggage...elevator to park garage, then back up to checkin to continue on.
Just curious, but how did I leave for check in "Too Early" when my check in time was 10:30am???
What part of the city is less desirable to visit or stay in?
We walked a few blocks away from Canada Place looking for a supermarket to purchase sodas for the cruise and came to the corner of Carrall street and E. Hastings that was completely shoulder to shoulder with homeless for at least a block in every direction. There were people laying on the sides of the sidewalks everywhere with used needles and pipes in there hands. No one harassed us, but it was rather uncomfortable for all of us.
I'm from Vancouver....if you go East....you will be going down "Gastown"...Once you reach "Carrall"...you want to to a 180 and walk back towards the ship....the author is correct, you DO not want to go North...that will take you to Hastings, where the homeless are, stabbing with pencil knives happens every so often....stabbing not to rob you, they just stab people for the heck of it (b/c they're on drugs). When you get off the cruise terminal...instead of turning left (that would be East)...you can go straight (South) and that will take you to downtown Vancouver...if you go West, that will take you to Stanley Park (Good 30 min walk). Walking to Stanley park is safe, but watch out for traffic... do not jaywalk, and cross with the walk sign...you will be fine. Basically where to avoid is "Hastings Street", between Main and Carrall. If you want to visit Chinatown, take a uber/taxis...safer than walking.
You may have been on Ovations first Alaska cruise of this season, but certainly not its first. It cruises Alaska during the summer after spending the winter in Australia. Which is of course, their summer.. I did the Alaska cruise you are on in 2021 on Ovation.
Yes, I discovered this after I had posted it. Thanks for watching.
Horrible negative review. Jeeps are fun ! If you had watched the company RUclips that’s posted and educated yourself you wound know it’s a Jeep tour just for fun and our family and grandkids are really excited it’s a Jeep. Your review was so negative it was hard for us to even watch it! This isn’t your thing.
Thank you for your opinion. However, this review is MY opinion. Everyone has their own idea of what they expect. I absolutely agree that Jeeps are fun, but I personally prefer to maximize that fun when I'm in one. And I never said don't do it in a Jeep, just rent one yourself and save about 1/2 the money. Sorry you found my review hard to watch, but I can't and won't apologize for conveying my honest opinion to those that might appreciate the candidness because you see, THAT is my thing.
Lol Love the intro.
Thank you very much! Glad you like it.
Thanks for the review. There is going to be issues if u look hard at any cruise line. I don’t think u r being over critical at all. I love an honest review. It helps to not get your expectation higher than they should. Keep doing these. I enjoyed it
Thank you very much for checking out the channel. If I do nothing else, I will be honest with my opinions.
Hi, how was the weather during the drive? I am going this October and never driven in snow (from Los Angeles 😂) - wondering if I can drive in Juneau in October. Also , thanks for this video - you hit the exact points I was wondering about to rent a car myself! Also is the car rental near the cruise port?
Sorry, can't help you in regards to snow, we had Spectacular weather. The day we were in Juneau, it was Clear, Sunny, and in the 70's. However, the roads were all fairly flat if I remember correctly. And finally, I actually did the tour, so I'm not sure where the car rentals are located. Wish I could be of more help on that. Thanks for the comment, if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to help.
You’re stuck in the mindset that “it’s all about the ship”. That’s fine in the Caribbean but in Alaska, it’s all about the destination. The ship is NOT the destination.
Well, actually, I kind of intended my review to be mainly about the ship as it is not always just in Alaska, But I understand why you would say that.
This review was helpful. Thank you for posting it. I was able to get a car rental in Juneau and canceled this excursion. Saved more than half $$ and able to include a 6th person in our group that we were going to have to leave behind. Win win.
I am so very happy to help. THIS is exactly why I make my videos! Enjoy Alaska, it is really awesome.
If you hate them so much, stop sailing them and give us a break from your constant complaining. I can't remember when I've seen a positive review of yours.
Really? That is very interesting. While I admit I can be critical, I also make sure to point out positive aspects. I truly wonder if your perception of my reviews all being negative might not be a case of transference on your part or selective hearing as in the end I was very happy to proclaim that "Yeah, Ovation's Great!" and "The ship is still a beautiful ship. You'll enjoy it." So, in your words I will reply to you "If you hate them so much, stop (watching) them and give us a break from your complaining."
@@balconyviewswithbj984I thought this review was very helpful for a person interested in sailing this ship for the first time .
I watched a lot of Odyssey of the seas videos and you are definitely a downer which is a shame. Definitely a thumb down. I don't like downer
Sorry you feel that my honest assessment was a "downer". I just called it the way I saw it. Considering you only mentioned the "Downer" side, I assume you did not stick around to watch the end where I presented the positive points about the ship. When I watch reviews, I want an honest good and bad of everything, and that is what I am attempting to provide. I don't like to candy coat anything.
@@balconyviewswithbj984 you do not need to sugar coated anything, but it's the way how you present that makes people do not want to continue to watch
@@NLMusique I appreciate your constructive criticism and I will take that into account as I continue.
U don't know bad cruises. Was on msc last week. Loud, rude, obnoxious people. They were NOT the Americans. The yelling, shoving give me a headache. A migraine.dont complain.u can afford a balcony!
Sorry to hear about your REALLY bad experience. But, just as you have the right to feel as you do about your experience, I have the right to feel however I feel about mine. If you watched it all the way through, you would see that I pointed out many good points as well. I hope if you cruise again, you have a much better time, I know I have.
I don't care what they look like or how much i need to cruise to get one. I don't need more clutter that someone wants to bestow upon me.
You do realize that you can simple choose not to take it.
@@balconyviewswithbj984unless they send it to me, which I've heard they do
You have to opt in to receive them, so just don't do that, if you don't want it. It's not like anybody is forcing you to take it.
Yep can't say I like the look of them either, they don't look to be a block, but just a thinner glass plaque like. I'm due one next month, hopefully I'll get one of the old ones.
Yes. I'm hoping they still have the old style when I go on Explorer in September when I will earn my first
That's my 2nd favorite ship after the Beyond. This from someone with over 25 cruises in their belt.
Great ship, just a questionable experience
We will be going the Symphony in July to Bahamas. Have you been there in mid July? If yes, how was the weather? I’m concern about it be hurricane season. Was it a smooth ride? Also how was the food? Thanks
The Symphony of the Seas so far is the best cruise experience we have ever had.... and we have been on more than 40 cruises. Love that ship!
I agree, the ship is spectacular!
I had a terrible cruise on the Wonder in March 2022. The food was so bad that I lost 5 lbs. The dining room was the worst I’ve ever experienced. We had reservations in Hooked, Izumi & Mason Jar. I ordered lobster in Hooked & sent it back twice. The tails were mealy. The chowder was bland & the oysters were tiny & tasteless. Izumi was mediocre & the Mason Jar was like no BBQ I’ve ever had. I left the devilled eggs on my plate…and I love devilled eggs. Coleslaw was tasteless. I took three bites of my entree & left it. We didn’t even bother w dessert. The waiter was very nice but it wasn’t his fault.
I haven't yet been on Wonder. We went to Izumi on Quantum in Oct and it was SPECTACULAR! My SIL & BIL sail on Wonder in April last year and said the same about the Mason Jar. We are from the south and they said who ever made the recipes for it must not have been.
It’s my last day on this same cruise on the Symphony. It’s been an awesome experience. Our fourth RC cruise on four different ships. We’ve booked another cruise for October on the Wonder.
So glad you enjoyed your time on her, she really is a GREAT ship!
It’s me and my 17 year old daughter that’s like amusement, games, arcade and water slides. We gonna in December . Other than freedom of the sea . Which will you recommend symphony or oddessey.
@@missshay.b8395 Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I really am a little partial to the Oasis class ships so I might give a slight edge to Symphony, But you should have a blast whichever one you choose.
From a very vocal isolated passenger: I believe that there were at least 400 cases. This from both passerngers and crew. I do not know anyone that blamed RCI for getting covid, but scathing of the treatment with covid. No full fare refunds that I know of at all, just pro rata fares (and this was NOT inclusive of port fees and taxes) for the days in isolation. Future Cruise Credits are not that. They are being treated as a "discount" This has implications when the FCC is used then you try to price match later. A number of us, as individuals, took the opportunity to meet with senior management. In my case 2 x 90 minutes. In talking we believe that at the time we highlighted the inadequacy of their processes. We hope that the revised protocols are in part a result of our efforts. Good video as well.
