mr vusi phailane embodies the attitude of sacap. It is condescending. Calling a person emotional when you're threatening their main source of income is unbelievable. It is an attitude that you see when dealing with individuals who are in a job vs. the interests of business owners. They will never get it.

I want to add on Tarrons question, how can a member of the public check if a candidate is registered under a professional. Their is candidates that work under more then 1 professional.

Just some comments from my perspective and no disrespect to Charles and Nokwanda. I was not able to attend the webinar live so had to make do with listening to the replay. To get to the actual subject of the topic, skip ahead to 20:26. I would like to thanks ALL participants for the hard work done to get to where we are today from having to wait in 2015 for an updated perspective on the topic. In today’s world of data centric technologies and algorithms it is reassuring that finally we have a scientific base to establish a realistic Minimum Fee proposal. It was good to see some of my fellow colleagues albeit long hair and beards during the Covid low-down (I am referring to the men and not the women) here. 2:14:00 AJ Corbett - brings up some very relevant points here. I concur. 2:21:00 Andrew Cunningham - The document is a GUIDELINE and should be used as such. We are passionate about architecture but .... we are businessman first. So if you don’t understand that first you will not be in a financial position to practice your passion and training skill. 2:30:30 Henk - Modify stage 1 to stage 3 to balance the work load. This relates more to Public Sector work in relation to the Private sector. I have been in this industry for 40 years now and only work in the private sector so have never been limited on my payment schedule relevant to the work stage as I understand what my practice requires financially to stay afloat. Gillian brings up some good points regarding the way forward in collecting more data so that we can justify getting paid more for our involvement in the profession. Some members of the profession feel that the data selected is one sided (I think although untrue,) by taking the only data at hand is a great starting point. If SACAP designs a survey with relevant questions to the expected outcome and then allocate CPD points accordingly there will be no excuses to not undertake the survey. In doing so for those of you who do not keep time sheets and tracking systems to analyse your profitability per project then this will open your eyes into the true nature of your practice. You will learn something - DON’T DISCOUNT YOUR FEES if you want to stay in business! The ongoing saga about contravening the competitions act in 2015 has severely hampered the profession by having to resolve the legal argument. Can we now move forward please? I really applaud the work and logic of people like Kevin Govender for the work in establishing the IdoW and Simmy Peerutin and team in establishing fee guidelines once more. Adv. Toto Fiduli - in the new gazette No 43392 published on 4th June 2020, the example shown has an error in the calcs for a Low complexity structure. It should be R 999 999 x 8.40% and not 8.6 as shown. Therefore the end result for the total fee is incorrect. 4hrs and 40m later - I think SACAP should split this replay into parts for ease of interaction here on RUclips and also get the Transcription up. Unfortunately Charles microphone was not very clear and the questions were not always understood. On the whole I enjoyed the replay and it is well worth it to watch. Well done everyone! Hopefully this will attract some comments.

And I thought sustainability In the built environment meant green buildings. How ignorant of me . Has SACAP anything in place to assist architects during COVID. Any direction? Any inspiration? Can we as a profession perhaps be incentivized or inspired to assist in transformation by training and mentoring young previously disadvantaged technicians and architetcs? Does SACAP run a bursary system.? Are they doing anything in schools? Is there anything they are offering other than starting a committee of inquiry and insisting that big firms have transformation in place to get government tenders so they can be sure of a contract before they start a practice ?? We all started our practices with a pen and a piece of paper. Transformation IS desperately needed, but this is not how you inspire young people to take up a profession. We need an each one teach one approach . We need a governing body to lobby the Local authorities to accept digital submissions so we can get our plans passed safely. We need leadership .

An Architect is an Architect is an Architect. Similarly with Technicians and Draughtsmen. You can qualify at any one of a couple of thousand institutions and register to perform the duties required. What is the transformation we are looking to achieve?

What exactly does Transformation mean?

Thank you for publishing the discussion. It was very nice to see the face of the President for the first time for me. It will be very interesting to see how the industry moves to assist transformation in general, and within the profession in particular.
