    Well, I think clarinets sound better in their lower registers and so I am drawn to the German (g ) system.

    Due to the wider cane, the sound on Boehm's clarinet squeaks on high notes. At the same time, Ohler's clarinet sounds softer even on the lower register.

    I really like the recordings from Oehler system clarinet players, like Karl Leister, Dieter Klöcker and Sabine Meyer.

    I didn't hear much difference between the two. I would have appreciated a discussion of the differences between the two for the player. Is the Oehler clarinet the same as the Albert clarinet?

    Boehm is a German name. Dehler is a German name as well. I had German in school many years...

    I just started playing clarinet and was disappointed to find that my Böhm clarinet didn’t even match up to a cheap, modern Oehler clarinet that I tried. The German system both sounds better and feels more balanced in the hands when playing. With my Böhm clarinet, I always feel like I am trying to strangle a snake, while the German system has equal movements when playing the side keys.

  • @paulusrex321
    @paulusrex321 9 месяцев назад

    OK, heard it, sounded the same, what's the difference? Unless it is that fingering crap, that one instrument has the very same thing, a slightly different than the other, and clarinet fanatics want to write a doctoral thesis about it.

    in greek and eastern european/ middle eastern traditional and folk music the Oehler/ Albert system is the norm, as well as in dixieland, gypsy jazz and swing, so they hold their places well and us greeks are waaayyy more familiar with that system contrary to the Boehm system which is played only by classical clarinetists, and since we have extremely poor classical tradition in contrary to extremely rich folkisch tradition, and a very strong lean into jazz too, it's all Oehler/ Albert system here.

    Thank you for this rare demo. Perhaps people don't want to hear that German is obviously better, especially for classical. How can you not prefer that sweet, compact, woody sound.

    • @33Pokenerd
      @33Pokenerd Год назад

      oehler vs boehm in terms of tone is still strictly based on people's preferences. I also believe that boehm system's fingering is objectively better and intonation is no longer such an issue as well on boehm

      For now definitely boehm cause it's quite challenging if i had to do all 12keys and stuff with the key system that i started to learn at about 30 it's just too hard. But when i have some recordings i have to deal with i prefer to go with oehler cause the pitch of boehm is so out
