I was lucky enough to ride on the last remaining (I believe) steam service in the late seventies between Lublin and Chelm. After decades of not visiting Poland, I went from Warsaw to Cracow a few years ago and I saw that things have certainly changed!
Wow that sounds like a cool experience. Steam trains really were a whole other world. Poland has definitely come a long way since the 70s.
👍
👍🏻
I don't know if you're still here, but there is a nice place called Szachty, which is a group of bigger and smaller ponds which used to be clay pits. A few years ago they revitalized a big part of it and now it has asphalt walks and an observation tower, but if you venture onto a side path among the trees, you may find even more ponds without so many walkers (usually only anglers go there). There's also a nice old house (two houses in fact) of the former owner Norbert Kindler.
I'm no longer in Poland but I'll be back probably next year. Thanks for letting me know about Szachty I'll look into it. 👍🏻
Fancy capsule, in front of wall. Many times I was sleeping there (and others pods) and if you're in the middle, it's hell, due to above average movements of others to the front pods.
I was in the middle but nobody was underneath me. However I never got disturbed by any noises. Guess I was lucky 🤣
Hmm interesting, you can roleplay a vampire (sleeping in coffin) ;D.
Time to look for a capsule hotel in Transylvania 🧛🏻
i never knew this place existed.. might have to visit sometime it looks massive though 8:45
If you are already in Poznan it's definitely worth a visit :)
Cheap, clean and on time. Unlike the UK rail.
My thoughts exactly 😅
What a shit. You pay money to sleep in a storage container. It's a glorified part-time morgue. To book a "box" at 2.3m2 in January (so plenty of advance) would cost you nearly 120zl for one night. You can rent a 34m2 flat at the same location for 280zl :-/
It does remind me of a morgue 😂
I never could sleep in capsule hotel ! I would become crazy very claustrophobic
It definitely isn't for everyone 😂
That shutter is a bit scary. If it malfunction you not going get out.
There are actually two red tabs either side of the shutter. So if the power goes out etc you can open the shutter from the inside by hand.
This is cool. Didn't know we had that there. I stayed in sth similar in Edinburgh, but beds didn't have shutters, only curtains. Shutters seem more safe, but noisier. And I get you, the best is staying in normal room on your own. I hate sharing especially when it's mixed and get snory guys...
Yeah the shutter seemed quite secure and safe. I don't think I'd like just a curtain, not really safe imo. Cheers for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@@GallivanterDom oh well maybe I should ass it was separate rooms with 8 to 10 beds and you had a code to the room. Beds were on top of each other and we had lockers in the rooms as well. Bathrooms were separate for men and women. And you could choose either mixed dorm or same sex rooms as well. I usually take for women only, feels safer.
@@wiewioraa8 Yeah as a woman it's definitely best to take the same sex dorms. I've heard too many horror stories from hostels.
Really good pronunciation, one less thing to worry about living in Poland 😅 Golden hint for anyone taking a train in Poland - always check your train by its number as that will prevent you from taking the wrong one that may be some delayed train or in case there is more than one train at the same platform. If you are going to some smaller station it may not be written anywhere on displays at the station so just check your ticket for the train number. It is always written in the schedule or displayed on the timetable. You will also find that number on this overhead screen right at the platform from which the train leaves. Some trains have it also displayed on each door. That is the safest way to go😊
That's a great tip about checking the train number. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
You would have more chance of hell freezing over than you would getting me to sleep in one of them! Just watching made my claustrophobic kick in! Amazed at how popular it is with all the slippers outside the pods! Genuinely impressive at how clean it is, puts a lot of big name hotels to shame. Get to see some vlogs Dom, hope you are enjoying your time there!
😂 it's definitely not for everyone. Luckily I don't have claustrophobia 🙏🏻. It was a cool experience and super clean. Thanks for watching buddy 👍🏻
Same for me, I'd feel like being buried alive in a grave. LET ME OUT!
4:29 It'd be better to switch the camera to 50 FPS (or use some built-in smart function) to avoid flickering.
I have anti flicker on. However I didn't notice the flicker until I sat down to edit. I'll have to look into it.
5:00 The shop chain was so popular they named an animal after it :D
Just wait until you hear about 🐞
Why are these people putting their slippers in front of the pods instead of having them inside?
I have no idea. I didn't want anyone stealing my precious slipper so they slept with me 🤣

too expensive for what you get. Should be like 25 euro tops imo
I see where you are coming from. However I don't think this is too badly priced for how central it is.
@@GallivanterDomit was high price. My kids paid in center of Tokyo $18. It’s central Warsaw but absolutely no attractions around. You have take bus or tramway to see anything.
@@GallivanterDom I mean as you said yourself. Airbnb is not that much more expensive. And you probably can hear someone farting next to you
Cool video! I didn’t know there’s a capsule hotel in Warsaw, seems like a great alternative for a 1-day overnight stay in case of an emergency
It is a good cheap option. For 1 or 2 nights it's fine. More than that would be uncomfortable I think.
Nice vlog pal, not my personal choice but clean, cheap and in a beautiful city, does life get better?
Cheers mate. Yeah it's certainly an odd place to stay but no complaints when I'm in such a beautiful city 👍🏻
In my humble opinion capsule "hostel" should be banned. It's a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. People in Warsaw are very greedy. You can expect to pay tons of money and get a poor service in return.
Honestly, it feels like more of a gimmick as there isn't a huge issue with space in Warsaw. However, the service I received was great. I was impressed by how comfortable and clean it was. I don't think they should be banned, I like to have the freedom of choice. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Humanity goes to a drain ,charging for something like this. Greed of people crosses borders. Same in Japan.
@@utahdan231 Quality of services across the market is steadily declining. What is considered a gimmick today, becomes a standard tomorrow.
Grilled Richmond sausages with Colman's mustard are not bad either, especially after couple of Stellas. And with company of good mates. But Polish bread is far superior than the Hovis shite.

I'll be doing the same trip next weekend. Very informative video. Quick one, did you book directly using the polish trains own website?
You'll enjoy it. I booked via the 'pkp intercity' app on my phone. However you can also use this website www.intercity.pl/en/ If you use the website you will have to download the pdf to your phone and show the ticket inspector that. Or print it off and show them the physical paper. The app is more convenient in my opinion as it just has the QR code ready for them. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Dom! I really enjoy your vlogs but am new to your channel. I'm curious why your gallivanting so often takes you to Poland? Refreshing seeing the places you bring us along!! Thank you.
I've been visiting Poland since 2018. I fell in love with Poland from my first trip and have friends here that I visit, so I pop in from time to time. It's one of the easiest and cheapest places for me to visit from where I live. Poland was never intended to be the main focus of this channel, I actually started making videos in Pakistan last year XD. But for whatever reason my Polish videos do better than most so I inadvertently made more videos in Poland. I've got plans to visit other countries coming up so the content will certainly be making a change Thanks for watching and for your comment buddy, I appreciate it!
@@GallivanterDom Thanks for sharing... that's how I found you - as I follow Karl Rock and his India travels. Normally for intercity trains travelling for long distance like yours the best price value you can get is 30 days before when the ticket selling process starts . Very good polish with quite decent accent ! And by the way you have nice name Dominik like me :)
I'll make sure to buy my tickets earlier then 🤑 Hopefully I can increase my vocabulary to go with my accent 😉 Great name although mine is spelt the English way Dominic. It's great that it's popular in Poland so people have no trouble with my name.
Where are you from?
I'm from the North East of England
Kind of similar place is Osowa Góra. That's some 20 km from Poznań. You'll have a nice walk from Mosina railway. Another site of nature are Warta river meanders and oxbows south of Rogalinek and Rogalin. Unfortunately there is no easy public transport. Need to find some bus in Mosina or go with some person having a car or use a bike.
I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip
@@GallivanterDom If you are a walkie man, I advice you to extend the trip through entire National Park and finish it at Trzebaw or Szreniawa railway station. This will be some 9 or 10 km in total (from Mosina). Or you can make a u-turn in Osowa Góra and head for the forests near Warta, where you can walk to Puszczykowo Station (11-13 km depending on route). One thing is to learn in advance: on weekend there is no chance to see a quiet forest like Morasko.
@@lukask7445 I will make a note of this, thank you. Yes I do enjoy a good walk. :)
In fact the statistics is: 95% trains are undelayed, which means have zero or no more than 5 mins. delay. My own statistics concerning toilet paper is: *much* more than 1% of trains have it.
My statistics are merely anecdotal 😂
My stats: toilet paper 50/50...

Dang, I didn't expect to be spooked by a train to my hometown when you walked up on that first platform haha Did my fair share of travel from this particular place and I really like the main railway station in Wrocław - easy to commute from all parts of the city, you can grab a little snack in one of the kiosks or stores (even McD if you are feeling like it, personally never did) and the interior is pretty tidy. The only shame is the plaza in front of the station, where most of the benches are occupied by the local drunks - especially during the summer. Oh also a nice fact is that the station has one of the divisons of the city library with an escalator leading there - so in case someone wants a book to read during their travel (I mean, if they are planning on a back trip to Wrocław, since you know..you need to give it back) - they can just go, grab one and be on their way :)
I had no idea about the library. It's always funny when you see something relating to your hometown in a video. I agree it's well stocked for snacks or a meal before your journey. Cheers for watching buddy!
@@GallivanterDom And also upstairs there is a small chapel from what I remember - in case people want to go pray. Agreed, always bizarre to find something about this tiny town in this big world. Have a nice one!
Vodka has a lot to answer for, I fear. Walking through Prague with my sister, niece, and nephew-in-law at 10:00 a.m., a man approached to within a few feet of us, unzipped his fly, produced his thingy and started urinating copiously. At least he had the grace to do it down a drain and not in a shop doorway.
@@Bazroshan Unfortunately that's how it is and I fear finding an answer for this issue is hard as well. What are you gonna do with them? Fine them? They are not gonna pay, they are a "Mr Nobody" - usually no permanent address, not much when it comes to personal belongings (including money) so nothing to take into custody to compensate for the unpaid fine etc. They have nothing to lose getting fined. Jail them? It generates costs. It goes on and on, they can only be pushed out of certain spots to not be a complete eyesore. Addiction is a terrible thing - those people could get home at a homeless shelter, get back on their feet etc. but you need to be sober there and they make their choice
@@Saito57G Agreed! I am not a politician so I propose no policy - I suppose that just makes me a moaner!
First of all congratulations to your quite good Polish knowledges!!! ---There is no doubt, that Wrocław has the most impressing and most beautiful main railway station in Poland. By the way: the railway-track between Wrocław and Oława is the oldest railway track in Poland (inaugurated in 1842) . The very first station building is quite on the right hand side a piece behind the stations post office! At its very beginning the building of main railway station belonged to two railway companies: the Upper Silesian Railway Company and the Railway Company of Wrocław-Poznań and Głogów!
It's definitely one of the nicer looking train stations for sure. Thanks for the extra information I appreciate it. Cheers for watching and commenting!

Bro , dont drink medium or large coffee's because it will have a strain on your kidneys. You are better off with tiny expresso instead. Secondly , Tarczyńsky Kabanosy are not good for your health either. Try to cook meat , eggs , rice and box it out with you when you travel. Bread and sandwiches are going to destroy you , too .
Bruh this isn't a health food channel. My first video on this channel is me drinking lassi (with ice) on the streets of Pakistan 😂 If my kidneys can't handle a cup of coffee I've got bigger problems. Obviously kabanosy aren't good for me but once in a blue moon won't hurt me. I'm not going to bring meat and rice on the plane with me from England before getting on the train in Poland. Try a cup of coffee and kabanosy you will feel great 😃 I even put 2 sugars in my coffee 🫣
