The Thing is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. It has aged so well despite being over 40 years old. Why is that? Let's dive in. the prequels had a good story but a messy script
imma hafta add these to my watchlist, i've obviously watched the show a bunch, but I don't think I've watched any of the animated movies to my memory. plus theres so many and they were all like straight to vid/tv so it was hard to tell if any were good haha, but you've sold me to at least give these ones a shot.
I’m not sure they’ll have the same effect on you watching for the first time now, but definitely give them a shot!
15:02 Childs is The Thing at the end of the movie. After Mac, Garry and Nauls go to give Blair the blood test, but find an unfinished space ship instead, we cut back to the main building. It appears to be deserted. Childs was left guarding the door, but not only was he missing, the door has been left open for some time because there was snow accumulating on the coat room floor. But, we know that Childs had not left yet, because in the next scene Mac and Garry are preparing dynamite while Nauls was standing watch at the door. Nauls sees Childs leave by the main entrance just before the lights go out. Childs later tells MacReady the he thought he saw Blair and went out after him. Really? Is this the same Childs that wanted to leave MacReady outside just a few hours before? The same Childs that insisted that Mac had to be The Thing because; "Nothing human could have made it back here in this weather without a guideline"? But, all alone he thought he could chase someone out into a snowstorm? And, we know where Blair was at that moment; Under the building trashing the generator, which was where it later ambushed Garry and Nauls, and almost got MacReady. (P.S. The Thing wouldn't attack MacReady with the flamethrower because it would have known Mac was wearing a vest of dynamite under his coat. Also, rushing him would do no good because Mac had Garry's pistol and several flairs too. The Thing imitating a human wouldn't be fooled by a molotov cocktail because when it imitates something, it imitates it perfectly. Therefore, it would have taste buds that functions just like human taste buds. The same with the breath, a human is warmblooded, and if The Thing is imitating a human it would be warmblooded too).
9:45 Ennio Morricone did most of the score but John Carpenter and Alan Howarth did add a few additional tracks (the very beginning before we even see the space ship fly into frame, another when Bennings is burned, the next was when Fuchs was working on the blood test and was lured outside, and the last one when Mac and Nauls go to Mac's shack).
3:35 Except if Blair was The Thing. Think about it, Blair was really the only one who could have picked up the keys after Windows dropped them, the only one who could have gone to the cooling unit without being observed because everybody else was outside surrounding the Bennings-Thing. He (or it) was the only one who could have returned the keys to the store room before the men came back to clear out all of the bodies and remains to burn them. And, before all this started Fuchs told Mac that Blair had locked himself into his room and wouldn't answer the door. Wouldn't or Couldn't? Then he shows up after Bennings was dealt with and the contents of the Lab and Store Room are disposed of. Why would the Blair-Thing destory the radio equipment then? To prevent the sabotage blood from being discovered too soon.
He burned taj and his mom because once they made the exchange she sprung a trap he wouldn’t have lit them up if she honored the deal

i first saw this movie in 2005 i think. my friend brought it over, and just said "i don't want to tell you anything about the movie, but i think you'll like it" and what a wild ride that was. to this day, my favourite scene in cinema is "we look for the cat, it's what we do"
I think we can all agree that we love “The Penguin” but we also HATE THE Penguin
Nice analysis! The Penguin is definitely one of the best imaginings of a comic character ever
Perfect goil

Jill is my all time favorite! Stu and Amber would be my next ones!
I thought the Batman was spectacular, saw it in the theater twice. I’ve watched it 4 or 5 times now and there’s always something new or different to appreciate. I’ve loved Batman the detective my whole life and this is the one and only Batman film that captures that angle of his identity in the way it was depicted in the best comics. Sorry you didn’t appreciate it, but we are agreed that Penguin was next level greatness.
best batman film and best batman in live action imo
I appreciated several parts of it
I was 7 when i saw this in the theater and i remember leaving in disbelief. Was Han Solo dead? Darth Vader is Lukes father? And when Rerurn of the Jedi came out i had to wait a good 2 weeks to see it and we waited 6 hours in line to see it. Looking back, what was nice, nobody gave spoilers. It was this unwritten rule not to give out much info, other than, the ending was crazy good.
Dooku was not an unarmed prisoner. A Force wielder is never unarmed. I won't even give examples, as the point seems uncontroversial.
I mean i didn't think the Penguin would fucking strangle him to death.
best character in the show and whole DCEU
Nice video
Thank you!
Midichlorians don't demystify the Force - they are tiny lifeforms that are sensitive to the Force. If anything, they make it even more curious.
I'd never seen her before, this performance is mind blowing
I absolutely loved this show and I’ve watched a lot of reviews about it from larger channels. I think your analysis is spot-on and more insightful than most of them, especially regarding inter generational trauma.
Thank you so much!
Qui-gon vs Obi-wan training Anakin = Duel of the Fates.
Agree!! Great content
Thank you ❤
Started off good then turned into super spoiler going on about penguins relationships 😅 just keep it about Colin buddy geez 🤦♂️
Nothing I said there was a spoiler
@ I wouldn’t know I cut it off immediately lol 😂 🤷♂️
@@AceGambino773oh alright fair enough lol
Okay I just finished the season 😅 and now I have finished you video 😅 good video 👍 lol
This Channel is extremely underrated
Thank you so much!
This actress is an absolute revelation in this Batman spinoff show. I most definitely rooted for Sofia in this show
I’ve seen it!!! Great flick!!!
Why didnt you like the batman film?
So I thought it was good, but didn’t love it to the same level most people did. I’ll try to keep it concise because I could go on for a while but I liked a lot of things about it, such as the acting, cinematography, and score. Most of my issues come down to the plot structure, plot armor, and tacked on 4th act.
@@curthagenscan't wait for Sofia to find a Lazarus pitt and bring Vic back! S2 let's go!!
@@dredgen7715I don't think that's finna happen. This is a very realistic Take on Batman just like Christopher Nolans movies they were realistic
@@Thesilantone realistic? He dresses up as a bat and there's a cat and penguin and a clown, they can find a Lazarus pitt.
@@dredgen7715so you haven't seen the Christopher Nolan movies cuz because those films were realistic the same with this, it's a very grounded take The League of shadows were in them but we didn't get a Lazarus pit
I believe Penguin was the standout character in Batman 2022, and this was evident again in his show. By a significant margin.
100%
I feel like that's a slap in the face telling someone that they're the best actor in the industry and saying that the shittiest universe in DC is the best that he's ever done ever in his entire existence.
Huh? First off, I said “one of”, which if you watched the show, that’s undeniably true. Secondly, I don’t like when people just dismiss a property because it’s based off a comic. It’s just a great show, with great writing and performances, comic property or not. I’m convinced you didn’t even watch it.
@@curthagens yeah, okay? First off DC is good, The Batman and its spin offs are not good. Everyone but sparkly-vamp-man is a good actor. I wish they continued the justice League storyline instead of this crappy movie. But I know exactly why they stopped making those movies. Second, I didn't watch it all the way though, because it's shit. And third, respectfully, I don't care if you like my opinion or not, I gave it. Good day to you.
@@shadowraptors1132that tells me everything I need to know lol. You have a clear bias which is alright, we all do. All good
I like that you never really get a motive for the Thing.
Yes it is a very good movie. After your review I need to watch it again!
The only thing they added cgi on is only on the legs and mouth and tentacles of the monsters in the thing 2011
Mannn this was a nice lil Time Machine being able to see you reminisce was just nostalgic I appreciate it truly
Aren't you forgetting that The Thing survived aeons of deep-freeze? Its only chance of getting out of there is by letting itself freeze (or not), and wait for the next incoming rescue mission.
I always thought the implication was that they're both dying there, whether they are the thing or not.
I watched this movie once when I was a kid and I havent watched it since.
I can’t not laugh every time I see this scene ever since I heard that Ewan and Natalie had to do a ton of takes cuz they were just cracking up and couldn’t keep a straight face😂 I just think of that every time even though the scene is very dramatic and heavy😂 1:04:38
Average movie with below average CGI and too few dead dogs 🐕
Said no one ever
So funny to see this pop up in my feed. Had the pleasure of showing a friend this movie for the first time and it was almost as fun as seeing it for the first time myself, especially during the defibrillator scene! This movie takes all of the ingredients for a good and engaging film, and weaves them together with the hand of an expert craftsman. From the writing, action, cinematography, practical effects, and more i can't list off, you get this feeling of authenticity. That the people who worked on the project genuinely cared, and put their love into their slice of production. Such a cool film, thank you for sharing!
Totally agreed on all fronts. Thanks for watching!
A classic
My #1 movie from John Carpenter then Halloween
Same!
You think no one saw you...God DID!
A Masterpiece
I purchased Frailty many years ago in the $5 bin at Walmart. A great purchase as this film was fantastic! All of the leads were top notch! Please give this one a try. You won’t regret it.
I absolutely love these movies (and I grew up with original Star Wars, being born in 88 and my dad being a huge SW fan). That being said, the prequels are my most watched Star Wars. Phantom Menace is my most watched of them all. It’s a comfort film as well as background noise for me when I need it Also, Darth Jar Jar… look it up. It’s genius. As for Anakin being Whiney or whatever, you covered it but also, Luke was nothing but a whiny bitch all through A New Hope Oh, and it is my firm opinion that Qui Gon let himself die so that Obi Wan would take up the training of Anakin. Qui Gon himself said the counsel wouldn’t let him train Anakin, and as we find out: Qui Gon knew how to be a ghost
Any way you rank these is good because all 3 are smash hits!
Now I'm going to binge watch Bill Paxton movies. 2 of my favorites, Boxing Helena and Simple Plan.
One of my favorites also!
