SHOWBIZ HISTORY: Where did the 'Forrest Gump Voice' come from?
The unique voice of Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, was inspired by the real-life accent and speech patterns of Michael Conner Humphreys, the young actor who portrayed Forrest as a child. Director Robert Zemeckis and Hanks decided to adopt Humphreys' Southern drawl and cadence to ensure consistency between the young and adult versions of the character.
Hanks worked closely with Humphreys to mimic his distinctive way of speaking, leading to the iconic and memorable voice that contributed to the film's charm and authenticity.

The trial, which captivated national attention, was extensively covered by media outlets and frequently disrupted regular television programming. This saturation of trial coverage caused significant changes in viewing habits, particularly for chi...

Too exaggerated.
My Dada lisent to his radio I remember
I subscribed because of this video 👍
If you ever watch the movie Giant with Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor, she plays Rock Hudson’s sister and the character is one tough, hard broad. It was a good 16 or 17 years before The Exorcist and even back then once in a while you can hear that voice a little. Also of note is her tough political operative character in All The King’s Men.
So I thought he got it from Phantom of the opera, but I guess not. I thought Phantom of the opera was way older than Pink Floyd but I guess not also
гениально
One thing that made Kaufman so effective is that he plays it so serious and that creates the subversive humor. Carrey is just plays a clown in everything he does. Good for the 3 stooges I guess but Carrey's portrayal made it seem like he didn't really understand the humor beyond basic silliness
Billy Van was so underrated as was this show IMO😊
They know 💯
I had the pleasure of being there (John Gruchy), They invited the Catacombs Church members (Re Terry Shepard). CLASSIC.
❤ I. LOVE. DEAN ❤️ EVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY SOMETIME ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤ I LOVE DEAN ❤️ 😍 😊 I LIKE JERRY. 😊 GOD BLESS ❤ RIP 👄 🙏 DEAN & JERRY YOU MAKING PEOPLE 🙏 LAUGH UP IN HEAVEN ❤❤😘💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
I just finished reading bob’s book about Andy. Absolutely amazing. I wish Carrey’s movie pulled inspiration from it because Bob was such a HUGE part of Andy’s life and the movie just felt like it a bunch of bullet points. Carrey hammed it up too much.
Jim Carrey's imitation seemed more like he was mocking Andy Kaufman (with his " *exaggerated* swagger " and facial expressions); rather than *honoring* his performance years ago. (In my opinion.✋🏿(which was not asked of me..✋🏿)).
Man her voice acting was perfect.
i still dont understand how this is funny. every comment seems to understand every little thing that makes it so funny but i guess im just stupid. probably the least funniest thing ive ever seen from SNL
Pink Floyd Bassist Roger Waters, fwiw
Andy was one in a million.
The Demon taunting Damien about his Mother was a memorable and psychological scene.
Jim Carey’s performance is crazy. To be that “committed” and “method” only to result in a mediocre performance that completely misses the mark is bonkers
Love dean ❤️ 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
Wait so there is another snl movie 🤨🤩
but according to jim thats not him, its literally andy inhabiting his body! theres no way classic overactor jim carrey was doing that twitchy over exaggerated face and movement
Find your own ACT and MATERIAL it’s sad and pathetic stealing copying someone else’s persona it’s bad there’s only 1 Jerry Lewis find your own material stop making money copying someone else I wouldn’t like someone pretending to be me it’s not flattering it’s offensive
Suffer for your art
The Saturday Night movie that just came out had a small version of this and it was great. I need to see more of the guy that played Andy as he was phenomenal
Wowowow ❤❤❤
Godbless ❤
They're different, it's natural. Love both❤
Jim Carey sucks
Jim Carey does not understand kaufman or what makes him funny. I have always found this performance crap
Nobody like them in all the world. They are indescribable!
I dont undertand what he tried to accomplish there
If only there was a cast album.
DEAN & JERRY. RIP GOD BLESS IH HEAVEN TOGETHER ❤️ 💖 😍
Jim, perfect. Perfectly brought.
No. Not even close.
she's awesome...and i am a little scared of her too lol
Jim Carrey's portrayal of Andy Kaufman was like Latka doing a parody of Andy.
none could have played andy better than jim ..
I guess that means no one could have played a good Andy
He did a horrible job, he made Andy look psychotic
I love them
You can see the love
You sure can. They loved each other no matter what anybody says. Actions speak louder than words and these twos actions showed a whole lot of love
It's an obvious tribute
😢
😢
This is my great aunt. She also had chronic bronchitis which helped her achieve those visceral sounds
Did people in her life ask her to do the voice for them and did she ever?
Nicholas Braun did better interpretation in the SNL movie
Both weren’t good tbh
Can't believe I'm gonna say this but Nicholas Braun did it better in the Saturday Night movie that just came out.
Agreed. I really believed he was Andy.
Nah he wasn't good either, a bit better than Jim but still not good. It's as if both actors don't get why that bit is funny.
@@forgetfulstranger Huh? Just stop. Not to be negative but Braun absolutely killed it. Honestly, he did it better than Carrey and I love Jim.
carrey missed a key part of the routine, where he almost mouths it at the wrong time and puts his head down. that's the biggest spot in the routine. good try, but that sort of says something that he didn't pick up on that imo
Maybe Rowan Atkinson got some inspiration from this performance by Andy Kauffman when in the curch anthem skit. Maybe.
Andy tries to present a shy insecure loser who still gives a shot and its superfunny.... Jim presents a guy who's mental. ITS NOT THE SAME!
good insight
