Hi everyone I'm a Professional Artist who teaches weekly classes to a range of learners. Creating projects from suggestions from those learners to encourage their learning and skills I've been teaching for 15 years as an Artist in-between ding commission work.
My aim here is to ensure that students have round the clock access to some of my classes if they cant make the classroom sessions or if a Pandemic hits again!
I want others outside of my regular classes to learn from my videos and hopefully create some new artists fully loaded with skills.
HAPPY PAINTING EVERYONE!!!

Your guide to mixing realistic skin tones
This video is to help those of you who have a hard time mixing colours that are realistic. I've used #winsorandnewton and #schminckewatercolor to aid with the ideas expressed in this video. Where possible I will always use a single colour to get as close as I can first then add tiny amounts of other colours that I see. Due to the limitations of video filming the colours as you see them may not look as close as they should due to lighting.

Why not try watercolour and masking fluid

Part 6 of the Autumn Winter series of Watercolours, where I look at using masking fluid to create snow on cow parsley. I've limited the colours to only two colours and limited the view point so as to create a loose feel but still focus on the plants. I use wet into wet over the masking fluid and change the pigment quantities in the mixes to vary the colour I get. pigments =terra Ercolano and ce...
Learn watercolours this New Year

Continuing my Winter watercolours, this video should have been ready for New year's day but family events took precedence. Part 5 looks at glass and reflections in this case I'm using the @Taylor's port their 325th annivarsary edition which has a round bellied bottled which I thought would be more interesting. Especially with the raised embelems on the glass added to the blackness of the glass....

Using watercolours and sat I show how the use of salts create some natural effects that would otherwise take weeks to paint. I've used only earthy colours for the background and stuck to a very autumnal palette. This painting is on a medium grain paper that has a slightly linear texture with helps to create the forest floor along side the salt. Colours I've used are all handmade by me, so may v...

How refreshing to watch a video that jumps right into the subject at hand (no pun intended!) So many RUclipsrs waffle on for up to 5 mins of pointless pre-amble. Thanks for the tips. Good luck with the channel! :)
@@emilybemily4397 thank you Emily I’m always worried that I don’t impart enough information but like you I can’t stand waffling for no reason and want to get to the point so that people can get on with there day 🙏

Not always easy to tell as the synthetic’s are becoming increasingly good. But I do find the strands on real hair tend to be slightly thicker and prone to splaying out after a few uses. They also tend to be softer to the touch just like make up brushes feel. If however you really don’t want to use real hair, I suggest a trip to a fully stocked art shop that has racks of them and study the bristles against each other. Some synthetics are coloured to look like real hair so it’s not always easy.
I have a bunch of brushes that I’ve gotten from multiple places and I was wondering if there was an east way to tell if a brush is synthetic or whatnot.
This is gorgeous!❤
Sorry Judith apparently they do not ship to the USA
Kate I love your work, this painting is beautiful 😊. I want to ask you, do you know how I can get this paper in the US? I checked Amazon doesn't have it and other art stores. I even checked Jackson's in UK, I shop there frequently, but didn't find it there either. If you do please let me know, it looks like a great paper and judging by the price on Amazon UK it's not really expensive. Thank you and again you do beautiful art. 😊
Hi Judith thank you for watching, let me contact the suppliers and I’ll get back to you. I thought they shipped worldwide but I’ll check.
@@blackstoneartstudio Thank you Kate for trying. I am surprised though that Jackson's doesn't have it, and they ship to the US. I suppose you bought it in a store? Is this new or has it been out for a while? There were times when I could buy a product on Amazon US and it came from Amazon UK, but of course it should be listed. If you still find out something, please let me know. Thank you!
@@judithf9297 at the moment they are an independent company, hopefully if we can get enough coverage then maybe the bigger companies will take it on. And this will solve the problem.
@@blackstoneartstudio I see, I'm not sure what you mean by coverage or I guess this is a new product and bigger stores don't carry it yet? But Amazon in UK does, so I don't understand. You got the pad directly from the supplier?
@@judithf9297 yes I took over as brand ambassador so it’s not well known yet like some of the other papers, the hope will be to get to a bigger audience. Amazon UK are the only stockists at the moment. I’ve been told that USA make it quite hard to export to the USA due to the rules and regulations that go with it, but if the paper gets the notice it deserves then maybe for the future it will be available for shipping there too.
Wonderful as usual Kate. X
