The RC Jet Jock
Добавлен 3 апр 2021
Here at The RC Jet Jock, wether it’s Radio Control or full scale, we love aviation!! Our channel’s focus is to bring y’all closer to all the action. On the RC side we offer videos of unboxings, assembly, restorations and of course flying videos. We also share the latest news pertaining to our hobby and give y’all our honest unpaid for opinions. NO BIAS HERE!!! On the full scale side we offer plane spotting videos, from airports across the country, and occasional videos from the flight deck. Most of our RC videos feature my daughters with the hope to share ways to encourage more youth participation in our hobby. Which happens to be the goal of our channel, without them our hobby can’t grow!!

Prepping For The Big Show, Right Turns With Trojey
I got this jet on the setup stand, loading it up with all the aids I can for the maiden. But after watching this video, I’ve been hitting the sim HARD with the 104 overweight. I’m working on getting the airbrakes to deploy for 60 seconds with the momentary switch so I can keep the power on during the approach. Thank you for posting this video-it’s become a key training tool for my approach work on the sim. I tried your approach with this jet, which works for most EDFs that aren't expert-level. The guy who sold it to me literally yelled at me to keep 70% power until just before flaring. I can still see the intensity in his eyes as he sold me this old jet that’s clearly never seen a bad landing. Again, thanks for posting this-it’s been super helpful!
Hello, a question about the H9 182. I've bought one of these a couple of months ago with a fat glow engine (26 cc) on it but I'm going electric too. Did you obtain the CG with the batteries in your location? I'm planning to use a bit lighter motor (Xpwr 35cc) or an SK3 6364 kv=245. That's about 400 gr lighter, from a balance point of view that's a lot. From the flight footage I saw you had heaps of power (which you didn't use, and I'm glad you didn't. It's a Cessna, not an Extra 🙂). So I'm not concerned about the power, the Xpwr 35 cc will be more than enough, and I use that SK3 in a 2,7m Porter (the VQ one) on 12S with great succes. I've converted glow/gas planes before so I'm quite used to think a bit outside of the box on that. But I'm a bit worried that I'll need to do a little more on my setup to obtain a good balance point (new motormount, bigger hole in the firewall, no standoffs, batteries go from the inside in the motorbox etc...). So.... did you get a good balance point with the batteries just behind the cockpit? Thanks for the video, subscribed!
Can you tell me what the flying weight is on this plane as well as the battery pack you used?
For the Corsair ti assign a switch for safe is easy just on the left gimble push down and to the left hold it then right gimble push up and to the right hold it then as you're holding gimbles on place pick a switch you want safe on and fliv6it up and down till it does the little dance twice and thats it.
Both are so cool!!

Thanks buddy

Do you have pronlems with the retracts? I bent a nose gear. Also the retract doors are so flimsy and wire to open and close it the connectors broke. Have to modify and strengthen them.
On the Verizon 2 I’ve had 0 issues with the retracts or doors. But the struts still bend unfortunatly
Top 👍
hi, if we want to collab with you, how can i contact u?
I gotta stop watching these Fox 3m videos. You gunna force me to buy one! Lovely plane
Lol!!! It indeed is a lovely plane. But I got bored with it too fast
Hello Matt Can you share with us? What type of glue did you use to repair your plane? Thanks again for all your help and information in your videos.
Original gorilla glue and tooth picks did the trick!!! Absolutely, thanks for the kind words!!
still not maidened this thing ?
@@pavlosconstantinou9236 sold it
@@thercjetjock6571why’d you sell it ?
I found a small.plastic with metal inside barrel loose in the fuse what is that for
It’s to reduce electrical interference between all the wires
Bro that landing was pure butter, Chuck Yeager himself couldn't have done it any better.
Thanks for the kind words!!
I put flaperons on mine but haven't tried it yet!
Sweet!! Let us know how that goes, and good luck!!
Worked very well but you have to split the ailerons and use a second channel on the receiver!
@CraigEmmons yessir!! Great to hear it worked!!!
Nice job guys … sweet family .. good stuff .. I’m so happy you spoke abt the hinges issue .. I was about to send some email to Horizonhobby about some cheapy parts of their build .. I’m flying mostly FMS jets and recently Freewing’s unique F22 90mm .. I just got this plane after the satisfying experience that I had with their Draco … but honestly their Viper 70 is way out of the league by the body quality .. electronics look good but body is definitely low quality build specially with the hinges and also the paint job! I didn’t fly it yet because the moment I opened the box I said this plane needs reinforcement and I started laminating the whole body including the hinges with 1.7mil low melt lamination film which made it pretty strong now … hopefully this weekend I will maiden it 🤞 … Eflite …. No boneno guys!
Thanks buddy!!! Horizons bigger stuff is much better quality. Structurally speaking the viper 70 is stout and it’s taken an absolute beating with minimal damage. My biggest issue with the plane is just the foam hinges. That being said I bet that plane is slick as snot with your lamination mod. Let us know how it flies and good luck!!!
@@thercjetjock6571 that’s True .. their 90mm looks much better … was just comparing it with same size of FMS and Freewing models .. anyways lamination worked perfect .. it covered the weak hinges, lowered the air friction and minimized the flex of the soft control surfaces for better aerodynamics, today morning I maidened her and I never used the built-in stabilizer. It was super rock stable in the air ruclips.net/video/dUZf8zneWxc/видео.htmlsi=eQPqhte_7q9pubCl
@@thercjetjock6571 Thanks mate 😊 maiden was smooth and nice … viper is a gentle jet and perfect for new bees 👍, video is in my RUclips channel @Man1347 … I also did a speed test, max was 171 km/h.
That little guy is good with the camera 👍👍
So proud of all that my girls do for the channel!!
The WEEDHOPPER ! I used to fly a real one 42 years ago!! Fun airplane! 🇺🇸💙🙋♂️👍🖖🏻
So cool!!
Matt great flying and stress testing. Fantastic job on the video 😊. Zoom zoom zoom. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks buddy
Nice video! What would be the best starter plane? Have been flying drones for a few years and would like to try a fixed wing.
Aeroscout it’s absolutely hands down the best trainer!!
Thank you both . Great review. Some interesting points. 🇬🇧
Thank you!!! Very happy to have contributed!!
Always saw her hanging but never got to see her fly… until now. Love how you make her look scale.
Yes she’s been a hangar queen for much to long. It was nice to get her out again. Thank you for the kind words about my flying!!!
Some great footage of a really nice plane. Had fun with it y’all!
It’s always fun when the whole crew is together!!
Looking forward to getting one of these...currently have the Turbo Timber EVO
You will not be disappointed, it’s a wonderful plane!!!
Name another hobby where “lots of assembly required” is a good thing. Great video.
Amen!!!! One of the most fun parts!!
I had to add 3 full ounces of tire weights to my Eflite P47. Sometimes you just have to. It’s weird. But I’ll tell you what, it’s a joy to fly now that it’s CG’ed right.
Lol, it’s been every repaint for me!! I discovered that after my first repaint. Ironically it was a P47 as well. It was really heavy and I barely got it back. So yes I absolutely agree a good CGed aircraft flys amazing 🤣🤣🤣
Cubs are classics and are really capable airframes but the E flight stuff is heavy, under powered and assembly can be a headache on a lot of them. I’d recommend the Flex Innovations Cessna 170. More powerful, easier to assemble at the field, wildly more capable and a real joy to fly all around. I’ve flown all the e flight 2 meters and the flex Cessna is just a class above on all levels.
Man I’ve been wanting that Cessna 170 so bad. That being said I felt the CZ cub (at least the new version) has adequate power. I prefer to fly them more scale like so that’s fine by me. And I prefer heavier feeling aircraft I find them more enjoyable to land lol. Thank you for your suggestion!! Hope to get the 170 in the near future!!
Hey mat YES YES YES I for one would like to see chicken girl return to the screen i actually miss her on screen brilliant looking plane that when do we get to see it fly
It’s been all BG and DG on the sticks lately, but I’ll show this to her and maybe coax her into it as well
@@thercjetjock6571 Please do see if we can get her to come around again ❤️
This is a beautiful plane! Definitely on my wish list
It should be!! Spoiler alert 🚨 she flies better than she looks. Maiden coming soon!!!
@@thercjetjock6571 awesome!
Nice!
😎
I just lost a Dragonfly Seaplane V2 700mm due to a receiver issue where I lost all control and the plane flew off into super heavy woods. $240 loss and have not even found the crash site after 5 days of searching. I figure it was at least 3/4 a mile away or more before the battery gave out. But in all searches you start as close to where last seen and then work out. I am glad you where lucky to get the plane back and fixed.
That sux!! Woods sure make it difficult. Thanks buddy!!
@@thercjetjock6571 My biggest issue is the ground cover in these woods is very thick with Wild raspberry vines every where and even with my Carhart field pants I just do not make much progress each day till I am exhausted. Also these woods also are swampy and deeper than my muck boots. I will only search one more day then give up not worth the few hundred to replace the plane.
I've just lost a much loved (40+ years old) Delta Lady slope soarer after what seems to have been receiver malfunction. She was flying straight and level along the slope at height but wouldn't turn on command, instead sailing stately away while I frantically tried to get control response. Just as she disappeared over the brow of the hill she seems to have heard signal as she started spiralling down before going out of sight. An extensive search failed to find her and we think she made it over to a small dense wood at the back of the hill before spiralling in to rest in the treetops. There was a couple of comms towers on the top of the hill and the receiver was a budget price (aptly named, as it turned out!) Lemon with no telemetry so we couldn't check for 'hold' failures. When I reflected on the flight, there had been a glitch a bit like your Corsair earlier in the flight and over in a similar direction, but I had put it down to turbulence on the hill and carried on flying. Hey ho, shoulda landed sooner! RIP Delta Lady.
had exactly the same thing happen to me and not that long ago. Couldn't ever figure out the cause of the brown out, just one of those things I guess. I don't continue using the suspect receiver anymore.
That’s the best insurance for sure!!
I run my rx wires outside when ever I can
Sweet!! A fellow believer 😁
Always nice to see the H9 Corsair up in the air! I’ve had that issue when swapping receiver it’s weird but it does happen.
Thanks buddy!! It was certainly long overdue. So strange for sure!!!
Gotta love 182s
💯
I agree with you on Safe Mode on maidens. Also ground handling is limited by rudder in Safe mode. Good video
Yes the rudder is awful!! We pretty much just have to plop it out on the runway in position because taxi is so limited!! Thank you buddy!!
when you say "Safe" do you mean Spektrum Safe - if you do and it is stuck in safe you can max out the movements to about 95% aileron and Rudder - and 75% Elevator - I do this on maidens, but keep down at the default 40%... until I am happy with the aircrafts performance. now having said this I agree with you as I cannot fly on the default safe settings , I just feel as if I do not have enough control...
Safe beginner mode with bank and pitch limits is what I was referring to. I fly my personal CZ T-28 at 100% rates and 30% expo and flies like a dream. So you could imagine my surprise when I was capped at 45 degree bank angle and 30 degrees pitch angle. Just didn’t feel right not having much control.
Safe is just a advanced gyro. once you learn and start flying hot, youll appreciate the switched assistance when you need it in the wind
It was just the bank limiting that was bugging me a lot and mostly because I wasn’t expecting to have it on and not being able to turn it off. I’ve personally been flying the CZ T-28 for a few years it’s a super solid and stable airplane even without AS3X installed.
All the passengers are vomiting!
So bad the pilot had to shoot the ILS just to find the runway 🤣🤣🤣
Why are my knees knocking?!?
We shall find out real soon 😊
Mowing some grass and morning dew, sweet!
Just doing my part for the club 😊
I have almost as much fun watching you fly this Navy T-28 as I do filming.
Yeah that was a great shoot, and you sit such an awesome job!!
BG is doing awesome! Way to go girl!
She is!! So confident now!!
I’m having fun watching Mike
Kicking back with a bag of Popcorn eh?
Thanks Matt, I’ve got the best instructor! Enjoying every second of my flying experience, lawn darting or not!
Lawn darts make for good laughs when you fly with good friends!!
I’m sure you’re now well aware, but when setting up gyro/safe always throttle up and test it first before flying. The gyro and safe won’t kick on until it’s throttled up.
Safe ,as far as I’m concerned, is what got me back into RC along with the electrics. It’s why I will spend $500-800 on an airplane! All my planes have it ! Thank you Spectrum and Eflight! 🇺🇸👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
Awesome!! Welcome back to the hobby!! I love hearing from people who are positive towards the new tech in our hobby!!! I believe we have a real chance for this to grow!! We just need more positive voices like yourself!!
Enjoyed the vid. That's a good flying T 28 for sure. Sill hanging for the MU2 as well. God Bless
Wow! Only 2 months and already going solo on the big T-28! That's fantastic and speaks well of both Mark and the T-28. Gotta agree with you too about "getting over the SAFE mode" feature; it's a great learning tool and safety net and sometimes fun just to float around in that mode. :D Love the videos! Look forward to the next ones. <3
Yessir, accelerated learning brought to you by spektrum!! Wait till you see what he flies next with safe off, you are going to be shocked!! I’m so happy to hear the positive comments from you about safe, I believe it can be the piece of technology that saves our hobby!! Happy flying, and thank you!!
