Interior Design : What is a "plenum space"??
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.4 года назад
This is the plenum revealed in Building 19 at CPTC. The ceiling was removed to renovate the HVAC system on the second floor. I walked through to take a look at the interior of the plenum. Always good to know what is inside of the structure!

Hand Drafting : Re-align your drawing
Просмотров 4424 года назад
Place a partially finished drawing on to the drafting surface. We often have to remove our drawings for various reasons throughout the development of a project. Here is the way to place a drawing on the board AFTER you have begun drafting. If you use the edge of your paper to place the drawing initially, you do NOT use this edge again once you have begun your drawing. This will show you how to ...

Use your t-square, triangle and architectural scale to create guidelines for lettering. Letter forms reviewed for hand drafting.
Ain't that a section??
Interior elevations are between two walls and the finished floor and finished ceiling surfaces. If you were to include wall thicknesses, flooring and foundation details and ceiling thickness then you’d have a section. You could also cut through the base cabinet on the window wall and show the section interior details. That’s a cabinet section shown in an interior elevation.
What are the dimensions for the drawing in mm
The paper size is 11" x 17" or 27.94 cm x 43.18 cm. The drawing is drawn at 1/4" = 1'-0" or .635 cm. I hope this helps. 1 inch equals 2.54 cm. The house is very small so that we can fit it onto the paper size. This is an introductory class to learn the graphics of an architectural drawing. Overall the house is 1219.20 cm wide X 731.52 cm. Super small. 😉😉
Wow thanks! It seems like common sense😂 but it really isn’t to the average lay person… and it’s things like this that can make or break lighting in the house! Wow! Thanks!
My pleasure! It’s all in the details. 🌻
Nice tutorial ...thank yo fo...yo educational...program ..si chin
Thanks! I appreciate that you are learning :)
Very helpful! Thank you!
So glad to hear this!
Currently learning networking and we were going over Plenum space rated cabling. I couldn't visualize what they meant by plenum space but now I have a better understanding - Thank you!!
Excellent! Thanks for stopping by!
+1 sub from Uganda
Hello Uganda! Welcome.
So thankful for you. I now have a much better grasp of the concept!!
I’m so glad. That’s why I am here.
Really helpful...

My second day learning from you. Thankyou for the help
Great to hear!
Love your work
4:49 Thanks so much. Happy to help!
Love your work. I did my bachelors in construction management. In this role I need to know how to do everything and I have chosen to hand craft elevations over learning software. Thankyou for the help
Very much appreciated thank-you ❣️
My pleasure! More videos posted soon! 🙃
@@jayaroseinteriordesigneduc37 thank-you so much just subscribed you seriously helped me get through a load of drawings tonight :)❣️❣️
I wish we had a teacher like you.thank you so much stay healthy😊😊
Thank you! I appreciate you too 🙂
Great video! Very detailed and easy to understand. I wish you made much more of videos like this. Thank you for your efforts.
Let me know what you need. Happy to create
@@jayaroseinteriordesigneduc37 well, I am trying to draw my own plans for building permit for my tiny house.. So just wanna learn everything I need to know ...Yes, I could hire somebody to do it for me, but point being to build house by myself from start to finish...And drawing is a first step.. You are really good educator...God bless.
Hey sir, could you please explain what is the plenum area ( I know, you explained at the video but my english is not good, if you write I can understand easily . )
The plenum is the space between the ceiling and the floor/roof above. The height of the ceiling joist framing allows for building systems to run between, creates a space for recessed lighting, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
@@jayaroseinteriordesigneduc37 thank you
I like the solution with the closet on the walls just at end of the hall
Thanks for the support!
Jaya is smart
👋 HI , I usually do my guide lines with 4h and lettering with H , solid lines F .
Yes, that is an excellent practice. We have reduced the drafting kit supplies required for our students. Controlling student budgets are a concern. Also less hand drafting and increased computer software. Once you have control of your own hand with regard to pressure of the lead on the paper, it is second nature to control line weight with your own hand. I use (2) pencil leads in .05 and .07. --2H and HB.
Love your vinyl top and fancy glass table, If I have a good drawing to present? I align & veneer invisible clear scotch tape on top of all my 4 corners before I use dots to align paper , so dots won't rip corners . I do mechanical design.
Miguel! That is amazing! I will have to try this method. Thank you! I will let you know how my students respond to this after I try it myself. 🙃
Sorry video froze at 10: 26 , you must have finished all the dimensions, I lose signals cause I'm in the desert .
Computer issues can be so frustrating!
I have an Alvin board 24" X 36 " and made a straight edge epoxing two eighteen inch transparent rulers together , then drilling 2 holes at each end for nylon guide rollers , and using nylon string . It works real good and board is light weight, so I'm happy 😊, because straight edges are real expensive 😌
Creative solution!
Love your lettering 💜👍👏
Hi! I saw you during Nick’s live feed this weekend and wanted to stop by and show my support as a fellow RUclipsr who loves the advice and tips Nick provides us. You are the first person I have seen doing this lost art of hand design on RUclips! I hope to see more of you online soon!
Nice of you to stop by. Hand drafting still exists in interior design curriculums although it is now minimal. And yes, I enjoy listening to Nick’s tips when I have time on Saturday mornings. He is a wise man.
I try so hard to be neat, and my professor is still unsatisfied. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm trying my best, but I guess I'm not good enough. My hands shake, and I don't know how to stable them. I'm thinking of just giving up, but I know I won't ever forgive myself if I do....
This type of work takes practice. As an instructor I notice that some students have a natural tendency for the work and for others it is a learned process. Either way, there is no reason that you won't see improvement in your work. I see improvement from the beginning to the end in my courses. It is wonderful to look back to see how far you have come. Hang in there. This is a learned skill and the only way to improve is to practice. I promise you can do this... Let me know how things progress.
I go through the same thing. My lines never seem to be exactly straight. Always lopsided somehow. And I always get the paper dirty from the lead of the mechanical pencil. I had to wear gloves every time I drew to make sure it stayed clean. We'll get there, though.
@irisn7481 Wow, I completely forgot I ever left this comment. This was 2, or close to 3 years ago when I was a freshman. Now I'm a senior working on my capstone project. Did particularly well in drafting and got to the top of the class when I was at the lowest, and became the best hand draftsman in my year. Recently, and today, I was feeling demotivated, and tried hard to think about why I chose this major. Now looking back at this comment, and seeing how I did the impossible, gives me so much more willpower and inspiration. Thank you for taking me back dear stranger, and I hope you succeed in this line of work. Come back here and let me know when you do!
@@geralt.of.arabia9766currently an interior design major, was at my lowest at the beginning of the semester when I first started, persevering through it now even when it’s difficult and will never give up. Seeing this little exchange between strangers gave me more hope and warmed my heart. Any advice you could give would be very appreciated. I plan to do architecture with my degree.
Assuming the bedrooms are 8 foot from the front wall to the back wall, I don't see how there is that much walking space between the beds and the closets. Our bedrooms are bigger and you can barely get through.
Well the first thing we never do in design is "assume". The room is very small but it is actually 10'-0" in the direction you are referring to. This is a very small house given to students as a practice for architectural drawings, and it needs to fit on an 11 x 17 paper size. The discussion around the bed placement is directed at the use of bi-fold doors as space savers. In addition, when you have mass at levels below your hips (the bed and night tables) a smaller space will function as there is nothing to impede your upper body movements. This is actually an experiential process. I set up a mock-up in the classroom for students to begin to experience the distances we work within. Also, the scale of the furniture is another piece that we work with in small spaces. Thanks for commenting. I had responded earlier, but just saw that it wasn't posted. Let me know if you would like to discuss further. Thank you!
Finally... Now i learned how to make elevation.... Tysm ❣️
