      The only time I “lip load” is if they’re oversized or if multiple packages are stacked. That plus my route in Arizona is FLAT with very few bumps along the way. Never had any issues with falling boxes. However my route in Oregon I would lip load everything and still have casualties😅

      @@mutchler87 I can’t even do warehouse jobs anymore and I have worked in a warehouse before when I was a young adult. I also worked for McDonald’s and a movie theater when I was younger and even for the Food Court, Stan add an ice rink I cannot lift a whole package of Powerade to bring inside the ice rink to load the fridge up. I would have to get a cart and put it on there. Roll the cart to the fridge open the fridge and put the Gatorade and Powerade in there especially bread bowl. My doctors told me I’m supposed to work at an office job or distancing job like I could be a personal trainer like my current boyfriend and work for a gym I could work for a law firm I could work for a bank or something where I’m doing typing and I’m still making a difference with peoples health and fitness goals. I’ve even work for sharks music Company as an intern, temp receiving warehouse worker where the stuff comes in and they have a ticket slip with it. It has a number you type a number and computer to print the official ticket and then you take the item to the table you dump it out you sort the item you check to see if there are any damages you put it to a side you take the ticket to computer after you count the total number of items and once at me and be fixed to computer you type the numbers in and how many stickers do you need to print out of the item you go back to the table but there’s stickers on the items I’ve done that and then you have to put them back in box and write on box the product number and the quantity number and then somebody puts it on the shelf. It was an interesting job. I learned a lot, but at the same time I was just about to do college stuff I was going through a young adult transition program. I was doing several different types of programs, activity wise. I even got some of my coworkers together and started working at softball team for our company for the summer and just to get some exercise and to have fun and I didn’t think anybody would wanna join the team but they did no worries. Professional softball team like the Tigers the 49ers it was just a community recognition program coed and I figure since I don’t play for my community college a more and I’m working at Shars let’s try to start a team shirts and we did we came up with T-shirts and we did pretty good we don’t do anything like championship or anything like that but I would even want to be a professional athlete to be honest

    • @mutchler87
      @mutchler87 10 дней назад

      I definitely enjoyed my days of delivering for keeping active but the money is quite a bit better with driving semi. It’s like anything, can take some getting use to but then you get so use to it you forget you’re driving a big truck.

      Not sure what Express pays, but I make $1875 a week with FedEx linehaul. Now that’s 11 hours a day for 5 days.. so it works out to $34/hr.. the hourly isn’t crazy but it way less exhausting than delivering and since it’s flat pay and not overtime it doesn’t get overly taxed like it would at an hourly job.

  • @pmnelson81
    @pmnelson81 11 дней назад

    Ground sure is laid back compared to express. Ride with doors open, make deliveries with doors open, filming while driving, no inward facing camera, no uniform code, smaller areas than express, no time commits throughout the day. Express has us secure vehicle constantly, strict time commits all day long, forced to go in the same areas multiple times due to time commits, no delivering later time commits early, has cameras nagging us everytime we do something it doesnt like, open and close doors CONSTANTLY---very annoying. Been doing this way too long. Working smarter is impossible at express. They have too many policies that handcuff drivers and slow them down. P.S. out of curiousity, where are you working these days?

      I’ve never figured out the exact number. The weight of the parcel changes what FedEx charges and ultimately what the contractor gets paid but I believe it’s a flat rate for envelopes/smalls and another rate for packages a certain size and up. I’ve heard a bunch of numbers but couldn’t tell you a number with any certainty.

    i started 3 weeks agoi roughly, and the way my route is if i don't do my rural deliveries first and then finish in town, especially when the rural routes are often broken up at the north of town, then lower SW because its divided by a river. otherwise it will add excessive time to my trip, and i won't hit my pickup points at their proper times. annoying, I wish i could go from 1000 to 2000 and so on. Definitely a far cry from doing 3D art (gaming industry is majorly sucking now, but Gotta make income somehow and this definitely better than a factory job) I am definitely getting better at optimizing though. ended up saving over an hour due to optimizing my route for the goofy town having a split rural zone due to the river. I'm a ground driver for a contractor now for over 4 years. I love the independent work and the freedom to work at your own pace. I have the same route everyday, mostly residential. I usually have 5 to 6 business stops a day, always at the beginning of my route. I average about 200 stops a day and I run my ass off. If the weather is good I can do 50 stops an hour. There is a base pay, so no matter the route or number of stops, you'll at least make your base for the day. But there's also what's called stop and package pay. I haven't made my base since the first month I started. I usually get to work around 8 am, my truck is almost always loaded by then, and I get back to the terminal between 12 and 1 pm. The weight limit on packages is 150lbs and like I said, I run. You don't have to run, it's not even encouraged or anything, I just do it because it keeps me in shape and cuts probably an hour and a half off my work day. If you don't mind physical jobs and like being alone, I would recommend this. I am fortunate to have a good route though. I spent my first two years doing different routes sometimes everday. The route you have makes ALL the difference. I'm always one of the first drivers back and I make more money than most. Perform well and hopefully you'll have a boss that rewards you with an optimized route. Good video.

      Sounds a lot like my Vegas route. Easily one of the best routes I’ve ever had. I always ran every stop and on my 200+ stop days I could do 50 stops an hour and do the whole route in 4 hours. I was also base plus per stop fee so the money worked out to be pretty decent and the hours were barely over 30 per week including one hour total for drive time to and from the route. 🙌🏻

    I have question I see a lot of FedEx ground driver positions open recently. How can you tell if there not a scam?

    • @mutchler87

      I’d suggest reaching out to them with an email you don’t particular about.. I’ve never seen a FedEx Ground job posting that I felt was a scam but reach out and see what they say.

      Depends on the company but it’s typical for most contractors to pay salary. I’d have to be paid really well hourly to take on the job.

    I get in early...like 7:30am. I've learned one thing at this job...and that's the only thing you can control is yourself. I basically load the truck myself. I always tell the loaders they have the easiest job; just scan the packages and throw them in the truck. They love me for it and i don't have any unscanned packages. Also it saves me tons of time on the back end to have touched every single package on the front end. I have a system for the SIDs that's objectively better than how they are taught to load the trucks. Great vid, Thanks!

      Honestly, I don’t know much about that..I’m not sure I’d take it on after seeing the stress my contractors at FedEx dealt with on a daily basis. Takes years to get established and find good management to take the load of your shoulders but I imagine it could be worth it in the long run.

    So Fed Ex Ground is better than driving for Amazon ? I’ve been trying to decide which one to chose .

    • @mutchler87
      @mutchler87 5 месяцев назад

      Amazon has lighter packages, typically more benefits, but usually less pay. Totally depends on your situation. If heavy packages aren’t your thing, Amazon would be better. But if you’d like to make a bit more and don’t need full benefits, I’d say FedEx for the flexibility and ability to earn more (depending on the contractor and how they pay).

      No need to be nervous! You’ll do great. Peak season is no joke though so just keep in mind, slow is smooth and smooth is fast🙌🏻 They’ll often start you off with a lighter load. Use that time to get to know the scanner and navigation👌🏻

    • @mutchler87
      @mutchler87 6 месяцев назад

      Yea, it would be for most routes.👌🏻 This specific route was really spread out and off a high traffic 4 lane road. I’d spend a lot of time waiting at lights or to pull out into traffic. It also had a golf course community that had speed bumps every few hundred feet with a speed limit of 10pm😑 In Vegas I could deliver 50 stops per hour. This route I had to sprint to get 30-32/hr.
