Welcome, dear viewer!
This channel is dedicated to the discussion and analysis of some of the best stories ever told in video games. The videos also make an effort to make these stories available to those who might be interested in the tale but are not necessarily interested in actually playing the game.
Each game is broken down into several sections, including a summary of the story, a discussion of what it does right and what it does wrong, character analysis and a rating of the voice acting and music. There may however be exceptions if further discussion of any particular aspect is needed. My goal is to release at least one video per week.
I hope you enjoy the videos and hope you will join in on the discussion! Thanks for stopping by!

I learned so much playing this game about ww1
This is the most story-driven game ever the created, and that definetly made the story better! The gameplay issent that great, but as a part of the story, its definetly a good thing!
Who else is here after 9 years for a recap because Valiant Hearts: Coming Home suddenly came out of nowhere?
You’re not alone ;)
I wish I could still use the Transistor theme music as my main menu screen on ps5
Excellent video, thanks for bringing us this story
I love the ffX background
What an excellent video about a wonderful game
The ending its dumb not sad
You need to learn some respect for the dead.
@@Wrenscarlett I'm talking about how the guy was killed.
@@newtechnoblade wdym it's a historical fact that the french give death penalty for soldiers that committed a mutiny, 629 people were give a death sentences for that but only 49 of these were carried out, Emil (the guy that got killed) could be possibly be one of those that got sentenced to death, if you remeber he got sentenced to hard labor because of desertion and do you think the french army would just let him out? hell no they would kill him for committing treason again, so think before you say dumb disrespectful things on the internet.
Hades Progenitor
My smooth brain only realize the plot at the near end and i bawled at the ending. It felt like i got punched one after another.
This is a great video, definitely helped reinforce my reading of the game. One tiny tidbit that stands out to me though, which somehow I hadn't caught during my first dozen play-throughs, is Royce's voice overlaid with The Boxer's in the opening cutscene on a recursion run. Implying perhaps that the recursions are in fact canon, and that the events of the game are some sort of simulation in itself. Some WILD speculation here, but maybe Red was in fact assimilated into the transistor as planned from the beginning, and what we experience as players is merely the process of a trace coping with said assimilation. Upon a less than perfect melding however (IE not all functions being enabled/not yet being strong enough) the assimilation process is reset from the point of contact with the transistor to allow another chance at it; albeit with more strain being put on the trace (manifesting as the "enemies" being much more difficult). Obviously this falls apart when considering that there isn't some "true" ending to be unlocked from beating the game with everything maxed out, but I still think it's an interesting additional wrinkle worth pondering.
how is called the song ad the beginning
look up valiant hearts theme song
So many unanswered questions. What is the transistor, what is the cradle ,why did they want those 4 people in particular what is this disease exactly egt i could go on all night lol
subved. Great vid brother
:(
Asher is of Hebrew origin. It means 'happy', which some would argue relates to he being gay. I believe that when Red mentions fire and coals in her music she is referencing ASHer.
Your theories are definitely well thought out, but I still disagree with most of them. I believed that each trace was like the soul of person, and that each person was a function. Gaining functions outside of traces is not canon. You definitely made the simulation theory convincing, but I still don't believe that the citizens are people-people. There are some things I did notice you didn't mention, mostly on the Camerata. Mainly that Sybil Reisz joined the Camerata to get revenge against Red and Auden. She manipulated and lied to the Camerata, intentionally planning on killing Auden. I can speak more, but if you listen to In Circles things begin to clear up. The Country does mess with my head... It would be much easier to grasp if there weren't so many giant Transistors there. Oh, and I forgot to mention: Unknown/The Boxer's name is Auden.
Unknown's (the Boxer's) name is Auden.
Thanks for this video! I just finished playing through Transistor for the third time, just to get all the story beats, and really enjoy this analysis content.
where are you man??? comeback
wait they where lovers before they tried to assasinate her? I thought that they catually met that moment and she fall in love with him during the way.
I guess it's like the matrix. People hooked to a fake reality they believe is real. I really wanted to know more about the final fight area. Why so many transistors? What are those capsules? Is that the country? Why did they need to fight to get back? Red could have just let the other guy live to recreate it if she had no intent to do it.
How I can rewatch this vid after 7 years and still get emotional and weepy at the ending, just the swell of music as Red sits next to him? Hits me just the same somehow
The ending hits hard
We miss you come back
This is a great video, I learned so much about the game's story that i missed while playing. Thank you for making this fantastic video
You kinda knew this was a suicide mission when she locked herself out of her apartment after a last meal of sea monster pizza.
What an amazing summary in under 30 minutes! I cried...
this is one of the best and most true story depicted in the form of a game
Disappointed that she ends it. All that fighting and finding out to call it quits.
She didn't call it quits, she made her own happy ending in the only way she could
The ending :'( I can't even listen to the song that plays in the credits without getting emotional
This game sucked. I couldn't stand it. The narration irritated the shit out of me. The purpose was baffling. Red pissed me off. the music pissed me off. the singing pissed me off. I just hated this game's "experience".
I'm glad i didn't continue playing this game. Shitty story telling, the wrong way to do Noir, extremely too cryptic and with a shitty, no player choice ending. Max Payne does this a WHOLE lot better. Fuck this game.
@@TLNetworkGuru They were trying to be hipster and cool maybe, with a mystery box story.
Lmao
@@TLNetworkGuru calm down kid. Although it's cryptic and too open ended, it's pretty well written
Nice video. But my main question is what is THIS (16:34) place? This "outside"? What are all those transistor, how come the enemy is wearing one as well as doing your "time-stopping" technique? Why is the only way to go back killing one another?
No matter how much time has passed, I just finished the game a couple of days ago, and I want to answer. This is the location inside the transistor. But they were not integrated into the transistor, like others, but were only inside. Why they had to kill each other in the end, I suspect, because this determined who would be the real owner of the transistor, and who would rule the city. After all, voting continues in the city, even after everyone has died. And with this you can change the city as you want. And they fight with virtual transistors, this is a kind of recursion. I hope I answered your questions. I answered based on my findings
@@aronmix8251 awesome, thanks!
This is honestly more satisfying than finishing the game. I think I liked Transistor but the story is so vague about so many elements it's hard to be invested. I still don't feel like I have a solid grasp on any of it.
I also noticed that the special process, such as sybil and the spine, talk to you in a very distorted voice. Sybil says she is sorry and she can't help it. It made me want to defeat her only to make sure she could rest afterwards. Was never a fan of her function though.
Her function is pretty amazing when you upgraded it with Switch / Banish.
Cloudbank reminds me a lot of EDEN from Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and Digimon Story Hacker's Memory.
Theory Red's father is Rick Astley 1. Red hair 2. A fricking famous singer 3. 16:18 SHE'S NEVER GONNA GIVE HIM UP!!!!
uh wtf? So basically everything I do in the game meant nothing since she could of done that at the start......???? Worst story ever.
are you talking about the bridge to Fairview? if so, the reason you couldn't do that is because 1) it was a petition that needed more votes, 2) they didn't know where Royce was, 3) she didn't know that the transistor had that kind of power/she wasn't able to override the terminals and the choices/polls yet that, and if you were able to do that from the start, there wouldn't be much of a story, or much of a game for that matter. (personally, I'm a sucker for games that are story-heavy, especially with how creative Transistor is)
‘The man’ is not a processed human, just a procces unit taking its form
Why dont you explain that ‘The Spine’ was a landmark in the city that was processed

I used to take the stand that Ellie believed the lie. After some thought and this however, that may have changed. The question I have, if they stopped looking for a cure, why is Ellie put in a hospital gown and under drugs? Wouldn't they just send her home normally? Ellie knows this, and thus does not believe the lie.
The transistor is more like the flash drive.
Vídeo muito bom cara
Why do you think the Process in so infatuated with Red? I could see that there was something about her they like, but on the return journey for Royce, you find them filled in her stage, clapping when she hums, and down the road, a bunch of Snapshots are guarding her large poster on the wall. It's really weird how much they seem to adore her; not fighting her outright if they don't really need to. (I also really wonder if anyone will find her body with the transistor and pick it up, allowing them to rebuild Cloudbank, since she left it broken and blank.)
I think the process was infatuated with many influencial people, but we never met them because they were already traces.
I think that the transistor's processing of her lover had an effect on the Process itself prior to going to reset mode. Thus, it reacts as the lover did when she sang: breath-taken.
The process obey the one with the transistor. As the story played out, Red got more control of it, becoming literally a Superuser or an administrator, so the process started to obey her, just like they obeyed the Camerata before.
