Eat These Words

Добавлен 4 фев 2022
I learnt to cook through trial and error, by reading a lot of cook books and watching loads of cooking shows (much to my husbands annoyance). I started this channel to pass on what I learnt in an easy to understand format using a little humour here and there. The aim is to show you that you can do this, you can cook just trust yourself. Start here with easy step by step recipes; all the basic recipes your mum and grandma used to make and a lot of newer recipes you may want to try. Join me as i cook up a storm so you can Eat These Words.

Poppy Does Cheese Scones Part 3 of 3
Aww thank you, loved this
My pleasure 🥰
Nice 😊
Thanks 😊
You almost had me, until you put cream in it. Even the bacon is questionable.
This comment is questionable
@@J_w077 Man u right. What would the guy taught by an Italian know about pasta al pomodoro and the horrors of westerns adapting food. Cook the right way, not the white way.
Plenty of pasta dishes have cream so that just shows you're clueless
that's also not cream. elmlea is not cream lol
Hi, I don’t profess this to be Italian or Pasta al Pomodoro just a pasta dish that has bacon and tomatoes that can be made in around 15mins.
Could I do my sage and onion stuffing in the air fryer and how long do I leave it in for
You can do it in the air fryer. I would leave it in for around 15 minutes then check it is hot all the way through.
Could I use Coke coconut oil
If you like the taste it gives yes. But be aware it will leave a coconut taste on your veg. Merry Christmas.
good video TY
Thank you, Gempanda
Thought you said you were going to use foil trays??
I will be on Christmas day as they just go in the bin. ❤️
My mum used to make this pud she called in queen of puddings my favourite. So many great forgotten puddings. I was a dinner lady in the nineties the cook said to me on my first day the kids will only recognise yogurt and ice cream and most won't try the others and that was 30 years ago.
Hi Sabrina. Yes it is very similar to Queen of Puddings apart from there is no butter in this one. Dinner ladies were amazing when I was in school so thank you for doing such a wonderful job.❤️
Many thanks for this - at 62 years of age I'm still learning! 🙏☺️... I shall be doing this, this Xmas. Best wishes to you xx
Your welcome Soulfulshal, merry Christmas
Great idea, saves time on the big day, thank you.
Thank you Minto. It saves time for me so I thought I'd pass it on 😘
Sage and onion stuffibg was my Dad's favorite.😊
Hi Melodie. My family's favourite also ❤️
Maybe next time you can show us the end product out of the oven. That would be nice.
Hi William. Apologies for not showing the end product. This was my Christmas day prep and the video wouldn't have gotten out in time for everyone to attempt it. I will do a follow up short for you when I next make some stuffing.
Ah I love Parkin!!!
Me too xx
Thanks for this. I love making the old fashioned puddings.
My pleasure Carol 😘
Looks lovely ❤
Thank you, Suz. 😁
"I've got 3 of --?-- margarine" What is the amount of margarine?
'Ounces' I had to go back a second time to catch that, too. Butter would be better than margarine, for sure!
It's is 3 ounces of margarine or butter, let me know how you get on. ❤️
Will be giving this a go for Christmas 👍
You won't stop making them 🤣
Sorry for your loss and thank you for a wonderful recipe
You are so kind, and thank you Mercedez ❤️❤️
Childhood memory. Looks yummy.
I think anyone who grew up in the 70s or 80s will remember this. My husband certainly enjoyed his memories whilst eating it 🤣
@@EatTheseWords I'm afraid I grew up long before that but it was still a favourite even then.
I was right with you until you washed your jars in soapy water and you didn't rinse them. I'm sorry but I find that really distasteful. Apparently that's the way you wash dishes in the UK you leave that soapy film on the dishes and you don't rinse it off. I guess you just get used to that soapy flavor? That must be why you only have 1 sink in your kitchens. I always wondered about that, how you wash big roasting pans and how your rinse your dishes but if you don't rinse off the soapy water you don't need a second sink. YUCK! Think about all the soap you've swallowed in your life. I bet that keeps you regular. I'd expect it would give a good case of the back door trots. I wonder if it's like that in UK restaurants?
I love this recipe!!! ❤
Hi Gloria, it's a very old recipe. I find the old ones work so well, no need to change anything. Enjoy ❤️
Do you butter your Parkin, or do you have it as is?
I eat mine as is. It keeps for ages and softens the longer you have it.
@@EatTheseWords Thank you. I am definitely making this around Halloween time.
Thank you for this delicious recipe. I was born 70 years ago in Maine and grew up with many English traditions, but I don't remember ever hearing about Parkin, Many of my ancestors came from England and perhaps had this dessert if it was around back then. I am anxious to try it. I love molasses.
Hi Barbara, I believe Maine I'd a beautiful part of the US. Lucky lady. I hope you enjoy the Parkin in these cold winter days. Take care xx
Thank you. That looks lovely. I am a Londoner but I still make parkin 🙂
Who doesn't like Parkin? 🤣😍
@@EatTheseWords My waistline 😄
🤣🤣 I hqvw to give what I make away as mine is increasing 🤣🤣
i love how delicate and antique the red cook book is. In the United states here it is quite hard to find recipes from the past
We have a lovely book shop in my city that deals with 2nd hand books so I get them from there. If you gi on line they are far too expensive
recipe?
You can find the full recipe and how to do it here 👉 ruclips.net/video/COKK3lTZad0/видео.html
this is so cool. can i ask if u got these recipes from real schools? im sure schools keep their recipes in old cafeteria cook books somewhere
Thank you for asking. A friend I have let me look through her book and take notes of the recipes I wanted. They were all in large volumes, and I had to reduce the quantities but they worked 🥰
@@EatTheseWords ahh i see thts awesome to know 👍 keep up the great recipes!
Yum!
🥰
Thank you. That looked lovely.
Thank you, Carol, for watching 🥰
Looks great 🙌 greetings from México
HELLO Mexico 🇲🇽 🥰
❤LOVELY❤
❤ WONDERFUL❤
LOOKS LIKE KAISO
It's a 19th century soup. My channel leans toward forgotten recipes.
What in the hell is this crap?
It's a 19th century recipe for a soup. A time when everything was used up in the house and nothing was wasted. Maybe not to everyone's taste but it tastes better than it looks.
Doesn’t look amazing, but I will give you a like. Good luck on your future 😊
It's an old recipe from the 1800s. I give the "low down" on my channel. Thank you for your comment and for watching.
Terrible
🤣 We all have different tastes and I'm sure the ladies from the 1800s (when this recipe comes from) would say that of our food. But thank you for watching.
I love your videos. It is like being in the kitchen cooking with a friend. Nothing 'cheffy' just good home cooking.
Awww thank you, that's so kind.
Omg that looks so tasty♥️
It is 🤣
Always wondered what this was called. Use to have this 40 years ago in my students canteen.
With the addition of butter to the custard you may have known it as Queen of Puddings. Thank you for watching 🥰
interesting, thanks
Hi Betty. Thank you for staying with me. Appreciate the support as i do this for fun.
Thank you for reviving this recipe! I will try it out, I will cheat a bit and add a thickener to it. Looks lovely 😊 watching your videos from Toronto Canada.
Hello Toronto! Thank you for Watching. I would definitely add a thickener 🥰
Well aren't you just as delightful as that pudding looks! Very glad to have found you Elizabeth! I've subscribed and am going to enjoy making my way through all of your previous videos. I'm Australian with European heritage but for some reason I adore British cuisine, and especially historic recipes. I'm definitely going to enjoy your channel!
Well, thank you. It's a pleasure to have you join.
That's queen of puddings. Been making it for years.
It is, I do say that it is in the film and say the only difference is the addition of butter in queen of puddings. The book I take the recipe from has a recipe for queen of puddings as well as this hence the forgotten recipe title.
I don't use egg I find it makes scones heavy and dense, just my experience........
That's OK. You should give them a try though. These scones are most definitely not dense or heavy but I respect your experience.
I loved this so much!! You’re so fun to learn from!! Thank you!
Thank YOU for your kind comment 😍
Throughly enjoyed watching this 1914 recipe come to life. You are quite charming. Thank you.
Thank you, it's very kind of you 😍
That looks scrumptious!
😍 yes it was.
Can you freeze them
Yes, I would freeze them before you cook them.
Wonder if you can microwave it? Some puddings turn out well cooked like that. I'll definitely give this one a go 😊
I'm not sure to be honest. Not tried to. Leave a comment if you do for others 👍
After you use the eggs and yogurt, add a tablespoon or so of milk to the bowl and use that as a glaze. No wasted egg and it works perfectly. My grandmother used to do this with her baked goods.
Great idea ❤️
