Nice content. I have a 1983 300d non turbo, 4 speed manual with 67000 miles in Caledonia green. Imported from Germany in 1984 by my dad. Never been restored cosmetically. Had engine out about 5 years ago to fix engine seals. Runs and drives beautifully.

China blue…. I wondered what that shade of blue was called! In my university days there were a number of china blue 240d’s and 300d’s around the University Park and Highland Park neighborhoods of Dallas. They were head turners even when new. They seemed to transcend other cars; one didn’t ask about performance specifications. I’d love to have one today in the same color!

I remember going in a taxi Diesel estate on holiday in Turkey as a kid . I was smitten with that sound of the engine . One day i will hopefully get one as my forever car . Wish they still made cars like this 🤔👍

I have owned a 230TE for 25 years and it still looks good. The previous owner used to take it to Germany for servicing. Will never sell it So well built and solid and after 40 years the paint still shines.

Hello from Texas! I've had my 1985 300TD (Barolo Red) for 6 years now. A truly amazing vehicle.

Sedans are still everyday drive. But they rust even on the sun. Station wagons are not as common finds. Ive also noticed different headlight stiles on the Mercedes 123.

Have a 280CE love it, always check the weather each morning to see if I can take it to work 😊 Have Mark's book too!

Built to last

I would love to have a black, sliver, or graphite grey W123 280CE with a sunroof and palomino leather interior. Yes, I know my technical terms for the colors aren't correct. I've got the W123 World book. I'm just too lazy to look up the proper names for these colors. I live in NYC so I want a two door. Keep it small but with the windows rolled down and sunroof open the 280CE would be an amazing sunny day cruiser.

It would be nice if MB made rebuild kits, for the diesel vacuum pumps for the w123 and body rubbers seals. Reply

The best Mercedes ever made, I wish I kept mine, such a beautiful looking car, I remember seeing adverts for these when they first came out, I was living in Germany at the time, I was around 9-10 years old, I loved the look of the car back then, the old cars are amazing, I like the simplicity of older cars, i was asked what cars i would buy, this was probably the most modern of my choices, this is definitely the best looking estate car ever built

Lovely cars! I'm on my 6th w123 and 3rd S123, an ivory white 240TD -83 same colour as the 300TD in the video. It's done 940,000kms (old taxi) and it's on its second engine as far as I can work out but it still pouts along, not the prettiest example out there but for Sweden standards it's really not bad. Looking for another S123 project soon

What diesel engine of the W123 is the best and has the least problems?

God I wish my w123 was a blue wagon.... without the rust. Need a new floor pan on mine due to a pinhole in the isolation layer in the rear seat. True pain.

That car could not have had MBenz blue paint hub caps because then it would be a 1979 European 300TD and I can tell from the interior that it is not, and that is the only year MB used painted hub caps on this series of wagon. Correct me if I'm wrong 😢 so what model is this and from what country?

I started working on mercedes at a dealer in 71. When I first saw the new 123s coming in I was stunned. What was mercedes doing ? I hated them. All plastic. The 280se 4.5 was my favorite, a real mercedes. But through the years the 123 became my second best. And for sure set a new bar for everyone including mercedes.
