Puget Sound Lingcod Catch and Cook

Didn't expect to catch a lingcod in this heavily fished area 3 weeks into the season... I just went out for the possibility and it payed off! Catch and cook easy lingcod tacos!
I love watching a fellow shrimper pull in a nice haul as you just did in this video. I just got home here near Newport, Oregon after shrimping up in Area 7 where we get four separate three day seasons. Going back up on the 11th. I love my ace Line hauler! And I really appreciate how the bulldog accessory coils the line into the bucket. Nice set up you have there. Happy shrimping!
Nice bubble king there!
Nice!
don't do it. the smaller pots fish just a bit slower. it is better to throw some back or take someone else with you.
just FYI, you don't need to keep the heads. Its a common belief that you do for some reason. from the WA state regs: "If retaining only spot shrimp, then shrimp heads may be removed and discarded in the field." great video!
Thanks for your video. What a nice smooth trip you had over to the bubble. Great day. Thanks.
Why is the limit so low?
Nice day of fishing. Are you running a autopilot to stay on track while fighting the fish?
How’s everything going?- thank you! that's amazing ~ )
I got a hunded foot pot i do off my kayak. Done browns point and dash point and ollala so far. Limted every time👍 lets talk someday👍 going out again the last legal weekend for 2023 Sunday and Monday end of august. Keep it up! Ill be on the coastal rivers starting September 👍
That Pautzke Fuel is the bomb for shrimp and crab. We soak chicken in and do very well
I live in Port Townsend Washington and i love it here because i can go to the beach every day
Set up your go pro to voice command turn on or off
pulling 400 shrimp with Mckay pots
I know you have your things marked as yours.... but How do you remember exactly Where you put them? All that water looks the same to me.
Make a mark on the GPS if you're going far. But we don't usually go far for shrimp
Why have a kicker if you don't use it.
nice catch!
Great video! nice haul.
FNG to the channel here. I'm really liking the fishing / crabbing videos and when you later show how you prepare them I think is an awesome idea for your channel. I was previously monetized but life go to busy to keep making / editing videos. They would message me saying i need to upload more to stay in compliance so I just let it go.... you could always make the cooking portion a separate video and have a clickable bubble at the end of your video for people to click on. Also, I'm not at all new to fishing, but I've always been a terrible fisherman, it would be nice to see how you fillet the fish. You seem like you've got this thing figured out pretty well and perhaps we could all learn a thing or two.. GREAT CHANNEL!
When you said 19th & Broadway I thought you might be in Tacoma... Now I'm sad. :-( LOL.
Aloha🍤 and 🍤Mahalo🍤 for 🍤sharing 🌺🤙🌺
That was sweet, thanks for sharing
Im sure its an ignorant question but ive never been ocean fishing and i see it on all the boats in the videos i watch. Why donyou guys have two different size motors with the smaller one always raised up? Is the smaller one for trolling?
yes, the smaller motor is for trolling. (also backup if the main motor fails)
What make and model is your boat?
what leader length were you running?
Question for ya! Do you ever use your kicker for trolling? Or how come you use your main?
Nicely done good job!!👍
Is the bubble open on Saturdays ??
Friday morning through Monday at noon
Chef tip: When cooking salmon, cook it like a steak. Cook one side then only flip it once to cook the other side
What kind of lure are you using? Thanks
its the coho killer herring aid in the video
You shrimping MA8-2?
just north of the Mukilteo ferry
There's lingcod there all season long never gets fished out that I know. I get them to the last day of the season. You didn't take out the cheeks I see when you gave it to the seagull. Nice lingcod you got great video.
Would like to pick your brain a little bit.
Hi Fin West, I will be in Rockaway Beach, OR on 7/04-7/08 and wondering if you are close to that area. If you are I would love to join you for some fishing.
How deep were they on the rigger? Looks like you had a good day!
Fry them heads :). aka "Sweet Shrimp" in the sushi bars
Don’t think these are resident fish honestly
Turn that stupid cicker off! That's an indicator. Rookies.
Bummer you didn’t get it on video! Small suggestion, get a battery door with slot for power cord on GoPro. Then get 128gb card or bigger finally external battery and you are recording all day without missing anything!
These aren’t necessarily resident fish, summer Kings start coming in May!
Looks like a mature summer king, scales are hard and it’s got some green on its back
@@rutgeryouch6982 No judgement to any anglers harvesting fish legally but it does bug me a little that unclipped fish get harvested there, I guarantee a number of unclipped fish that get harvested are wild summer or fall kings. The state needs to clamp down on tribal hatcheries and make them clip all fish
@@kashfiqbal the natives produce, raise and release these fish from a creek that never had a salmon. We should be the ones thankful we get to harvest these fish. This a directed fishery specifically for tulalip fish
@@395glen It is inevitible that fishing so close to the Snohomish, some truly wild summer runs and wallace river summer runs will end up in the fishery
I had a blast coming up there to fish with you! Leave starts soon. Definitely will be up for more fishing!
What a great day on the water, nice work! Looking forward to more content from the Puget Sound!
Great fish. Don’t say anything negative about how he cooked that fish. Don’t say anything negative about how he cooked that fish….
Oh man...
cute
I love your cat!
What day did you fish?
I agree with your sentiment on living in the Puget Sound area, I can't imagine living anywhere else but near the Pacific coast. Great job getting on the shrimp, it was a madhouse where we dropped our pots.
That's some good fishin right there!
