    The arrogance of assuming that your religion is the only good and real one. And you've figured out all the answers and found "the truth", is also absurd. Not to mention absolutely arrogant. Even if you always hide behind your religion to confirm your beliefs. "I don't hate gay people god does and I'm just following him." It's a perfect example of this. It's still pride and self assurance that your ideas and opinions are in fact superior you everyone else's.

    So what, for example, about the Christian perspective on slavery changing due to a large societal shift in recent times despite its countless passages on the matter? Is that not through deconstructing the message that slavery is now not acceptable, like you say, taking a modern lens and overlaying it onto the bible using new knowledge sources not previously available? Similarly, as you say if learning cultural contexts of the time allows the words of the Bible to be understood more clearly, is this not the argument of Christians who believe references to homosexuality as sinful are lost in translation? I find it makes the persecution of people who are homosexual without choice feel arbitrary, as to make people (certain Christians) feel superior of one another (or prideful), Christian or otherwise, and that doesn't sound very Godly to me either. Would like to hear your thoughts, thank you.

    • @DampBiscuitt
      @DampBiscuitt Месяц назад

      My response to this would be to say that the Christian perspective on slavery has never changed. How we are to treat one another has stayed the same biblically, however people have taken the Bible out of context to justify it in the past. It was by using the Bible’s true stance on slavery that people were able to say they were wrong. Even Paul from the early days in Rome was against their form of slavery in the same way that was used to protest America’s version of slavery. I also think this goes against his initial point, people are now behaving like the ones who used scripture to justify slavery to use scripture to fit their narratives. When none of church history has interpreted those passages that way. Just like when people said “hey you’re wrong about slavery this isn’t what Paul said or any of the other church leaders.” The same dangerous thing is happening to as you said to homosexuality. Reinterpreting words that have already been understood and explained by people much closer to that time. Society does change sure, but biblically a book that was written years ago does not change unless it IS changed physically. We don’t change the constitution without laws. If someone said hey the 2nd amendment means I can murder people we’d say uh that’s not what it means. We have to understand the context with which it was written. Now it’s our choice to believe it but to change the meaning to fit our narratives is dangerous.

    New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many modern Christians cannot honestly answer the questions below? Who is the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Who is the “son” that is the “heir” to the land in Matthew 21:37-43? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. God is not now a “racist”. He has extended His love to all races of people through the New Covenant fulfilled by His Son’s blood at Calvary. The Apostle Paul warned against using “genealogies” in our faith in 1 Tim. 1:4, and Titus 3:9. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. "If you are tired read the bible rather than sleep." What the fuck is this logic? "You're starving? That's a sin because if you had more faith and love in God you would have food to eat. Don't be prideful and look for something to eat on your own, pray to God to feed you instead." This kind of rhetoric is exactly what pushed me away from religion. This is the same kind of thinking that had my pastor tell my father when I was a kid that he should have let me be beat to death/nearly to death by other kids with sticks instead of intervening, because it was all part of God's plan or some shit.

    This is false, the Bible actually discusses burnout and even depression. A good example, a verse I like is 1st Kings 19 verses 1-20 it talks about Elijah fleeing a corrupted Israel out to kill him, all had fallen to the extremely violent religion of Baal. He prayed to God asking him to “take his life” and that he had failed his ancestors, he was depressed, alone, broken, and absolutely burnt out. It’s important to notice how God didn’t scold him or get upset with him… he simply “listened” to Elijah. He even sent an angel to provide him with food and water while he slept in the shade under a tree, before continuing his journey. Sometimes all you need during bad moment is a good meal and some rest to get your head straight and to think things through. Burnout is not a sin, and it is blasphemy to say it is, god understands our struggles, and he listens, much like how when Adam expressed how he felt alone in the garden of eden, asking why he didn’t have another, God provided him with what he needed. The same as God listened to and cared for Elijah. God often tests us, If God needs us to push through something in life, he will give us the strength and ability to do so, we all have our limits, God does not.

    A PASTOR is talking about burnout? :D Be a farmer, work every day, and make $5-6/hour net average over a few years with multiple psych issues, then comment about burnout. There is no point in me doing what I am doing for the money I make, except the reputation in my community, and the fact that if I went on disability, I'd be a leech. Can't kill myself as that would hurt a couple people severely, and possibly send me to hell due to the Christian rhetoric that was brainwashed into me at a young age. You want burnout? Have scrupulosity to the degree where if you're having an impure thought, you can't breathe until the thought is clear, or your brain thinks you're condoning it. Then, talk about burnout. I wish I never even existed.

    Burnout is not a sin. Being lazy and not living up to your responsibilities is. I don’t how people have twisted the Bible to justify laziness. It is absolutely true that you should trust in Gods plan for your life, but that doesn’t mean you should sit on your hands and wait for God to do something. We have free will, and God works through the life’s of his children. I’m not even sure what ‘burnout’ even means. Are you saying it’s a sin to be tired? The term “Burn out” didn’t exist during the Great Depression or WWII. Imagine if those men working three jobs to put food on the table decided to tell there children “Sorry kids there’s no dinner tonight because I’m burnt out…“ Utterly Ridiculous. You have a moral obligation to live up to your responsibilities. God helps you do this, and sometimes it is difficult. But you shouldn’t forgo extreme effort hoping God will intervene.

You claimed it’s a sin to be burnt out, but not a sin to be tired. Where in the scripture does it say it’s a sin to be burnt out? The video conflates states of being (emotions, feelings, etc) with virtues and actions, which lead to statements such as "burnout is sin" and "tiredness CAN be a sin," when the real sins mentioned have nothing to do with being tired or burned out, but with being overconfident and lazy (which the speaker accurately brings up). The issue is that this labeling of emotions can make people feel guilty for the wrong reasons. If someone is in fact burned out because of a character problem with pride and over confidence, the right thing to do would be to repent of pride, not feel guilty for being burnt out. God bless you.

    • @crosschurchphx
